  • The 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is a far departure from the Chery we know from before
    CHERY auto was founded in 1997, and in 2017.. they became one of the largest auto manufacturers in China with an annual output of 900,000 vehicles, 900,000 engines and 800,000 transmissions.
    They are the first Chinese brand in 2017 to have a cumulative sales of 5,000,000 units .. CHERY has become China’s number one vehicle exporter for the last 14 consecutive years.
    In 1997 , CHERY was founded as a state owned enterprise by a group of officials from Anhui Province and began automotive production in 1999 using a chassis licensed from Volkswagen’s Seat Toledo .. thus the Fengyun was born .. and eventually went on to sell 30,000 units.
    The Wall Street journal described CHERY as an Odd hybrid of communist state enterprise and entrepreneurial startup.
    By the way, in 2012, CHERY and Jaguar / Land Rover formed a 50/50 joint venture .. CHERY JAGUAR LAND ROVER to produce Jaguar and Land Rover Cars in China.
    CHERY uses INTELLIGENT MANUFACTURING in its production process, thus .. it’s ability to adapt and produce quality vehicles.

    Just got mine 3 weeks ago and I'd say it is one of the best decisions I have made. Our options were the Geely Oka and Tiggo 8 Pro but Chery won my heart. At their price point, you get so many tech features (too many to mention) and hindi bitin sa power. Kahit naka ECO mode ako, ramdam ko pa rin yung hatak. More aggressive and modern looking than the Okavango and the interior, very elegant. To top it off, they have the best-in-class 7 year bumper-to-bumper warranty and the 3-year free PMS. Ride comfort is also superb.

Don't get me wrong Geely Coolray is awesome but if you check other car reviewers you'd know why - Check the specs and features. Sitting capacity, Horse power, Warranty coverage. I own a PHEV here in the USA. The extra charge for the Phev over the ICE model is about $4000 USD. It's almost 14k for the Tiggo 8 PHEV. The other problem is the Philippines doesn't have the public charging system in place. America has over 114,000 public chargers. Let's say you live in Manila Metro. Stop and go traffic with hot and humid weather and you are running aircon. When in EV mode the aircon is drawing from the hybrid battery. I've never tested it but my guess is within an hour the hybrid battery would deplete even if not moving. You might not even be able to go 10km if stuck in Manila rush hour traffic. If you live in a smaller place say Tagbilaran as an example then it would save a lot of gas. Remember you have to pay for the cost of electricity when home charging. With such a high premium in price can it justify the price?

    • @virgeliotudtud3125
      @virgeliotudtud3125 Před rokem +2

      Do you know what PHEV means, Sir? Literally, it can be charged in any 220-volt AC electrical outlet, at home, in the office, or anywhere else. Sorry for my reply but you should be more educated than me. Thank you.

    • @MrMekmek29
      @MrMekmek29 Před 2 lety +38

      Hi I am one of first batch of owners of Chery Tiggo 8 pro. I had that same dilemma din kase my choices were Tiggo 8 pro, Okavango Urban Plus and Montero GLS Sport pero here is why i Chose Tiggo 8 pro over the two:
      - 3 year free PMS - literally no cash to spend on on PMS while Geely only offers 1 year and Mitsubishi offers free labor on the 1st 1k PMS and 5k PMS, mind you have you spend around 14 to 15k for PMS on Montero not sure with Geely though. The free PMS is a big plus for me since I bought my car thru car loan for 5 years.
      - 7 year warranty for both engine and bumper to bumper warranty on the car vs 5 years on Geely general warranty and only 3 years sa mitsubishi or toyota din.
      - at the time i was going to buy Okavango the price increased 1.6M but the tech features remains the same (they say my bago na daw sa padating na units but at this point i dont care anymore). so I chose Tiggo 8 because they are close in price tons of safety feature and Chery Also offers a 50k discount at the time i purchased my unit.
      - Tiggo 8 does not rely on a mild hybrid system, (well ang okavango mas matipid ng onti sa T8pro pero not by a wide margin) some okavango owners have issue sa EMS battery (BSG error) kse ung alternator ata nasisira so ndi na chacharge ung EMS batt which will result to you not being able to use your car though konti lang naman ang nagrereport nito sa group nila but still its an issue.
      - Tiggo 8 pro already has Android Auto and Apple Car play, no need to mod your head unit like what's on Okavangounlocked
      - Adaptive cruise control sa T8pro vs standard cruise control sa okavango, thats god send for busy highways.
      - May autonomous braking ang T8pro ang Okavango wala, thats critical for safety reason especially if malingat ka sa daan at biglang may nag brake sa harap mo.
      Maraming features si Chery Tiggo 8 pro na ndi na napakita ni King Panda dito (maybe dahil sa sobrang dami wala na syang time so he just had to talk about the key features) but to be fair his right naman, putting Geely and Chery head to head is not a black and white comparison, up to you to decide and test drive both.
      For my experience when i test drove the 3, mas gusto ko ung response ni T8pro over kay Okavango siguro dahil mas magaan si T8pro vs Okavango and mas maliit sya compared sa Okavango. Sa Montero naman ok din kaso mas maganda ride comfort ng Okavango and T8pro.
      Not sure why King Panda feels the 1.6 Turbo T8pro is not as responsive as the phev when on spec sheet mas mataas ang HP and Torque ng 1.6 T sa Phev (195HP and 290 NM Torque for 1.6Turbo while 155HP and 230 NM Torque for PHEV). I got a chance to test drive the PHEV on the fun drive but it was not as responsive compared with the 1.6T, maybe because the PHEV was riding on a 19inch wheel vs 18's on the 1.6T? At the end of the day I agree with him, you have to test drive all of it to find out for yourself which will excite you more. After all its your money and your the one who is going to drive it.

    Geely vs Chery? When we're talking about after sale, Chery wins, may warehouse sila sa PH. Mas mabilis makakarating sa inyo ang mga parts

    The Tiggo 8 Pro warranty booklet says that only a few engine parts are covered by 7 year, 200,000km warranty. Chery will not say in writing what is covered when I asked repeatedly. I almost bought their vehicle until I saw the warranty booklet. This made me skeptical, and then I started checking the owner reviews in Chinese, which refer to many problems. I suggest that any prospective buyer turn on Google Translate and read for yourself, as that may explain why only a few items are listed with warranty coverage. Also look at the warranty booklet for yourself!

      May online forums about Filipinos who bought Chery Tiggo and some Chinese auto brands. Ang problema din if ever car accident, mahirap daw maghanap ng parts to fix the car. So it takes many weeks and months to get the parts for the car. I like the car, unfortunately this is true, servicing a car that needs parts could be a burdensome. Since you mentioned about this warranty, this warranty almost got me this car. But thank you for posting it. After reading the issues of parts of fixing the car made me rethink of purchasing Chery Tiggo 8. Kaya bumili nalang ako ng Toyota Rush, even though it doesn't have much features as Chery Tiggo 8.

      Its a plugin hybrid that gets around 100km on battery only, if you drive less than that round trip daily and can plug in at work or home, your gas tank can last well over a month, over 200km/l is easily do able.

    I am sorry Jaguar and Range Rover are 2 of the most consistently unreliable problematic vehicles EVER MADE THEY ARE BOTH HORRIBLE!!
    I would not spend my hard earned money on vehicle made by a company that manufactures those vehicles.
    There cars are beautiful but spend more time in the shop then on the road.
    No way would I take a chance on either of those vehicles.

    This is in reply to Virgelio. who believes that just because you can charge your PHEV by a standard 220Volt outlet it solves charging issues. If you own your home and it's not a condo or an apartment it would be easy to charge there and if you have access to an outlet at work where you park your car and if you can borrow someone's outlet when you leave town then charging is somewhat doable. It's naive to think you don't need dedicated electric car charging stations for them to be practical to the masses especially if you are out of town. Then you need fast chargers that charge many times faster. It would get old quickly spending an hour on a 220 outlet for about 10 miles range.
