Porsche 944 Shifter Rebuild | Short Shift and Linkage Arm

In this video, I will show you how to remove and replace every component of your Porsche 944 shifter. I will upgrade to a short shifter, a new linkage arm, and a new shifter (all from only 944). By doing these upgrades, I was able to remove almost all of the slop out of the shifter assembly and dramatically reduce the throw.

Everything worked beforehand, I just wanted to tighten everything up. With 40 year old bushings, there is going to be a bit of play that takes away from the driving experience.

@@TheMileHighMechanicawesome thanks, so currently i have a problem with my 944.
It shifts when off and sometimes shifts while on! However its very inconsistent and is not drivable right now. I have tested the clutch snd it looks fine, but other than the shifter linkage im not sure what it could be.
Any tips would be awesome, Thanks

@@TheMileHighMechanicnot really while i was driving it, it just kept getting harder to shift, snd then sometimes i shifted i could feel it just didn’t catch the gear

@@diegodoby950 sounds like it could be a synchro issue. To rule out the shifter assembly, I would try to hit every gear while the car is off, if you can do that then the shifting assembly is likely to be fine. I would check/change your transmission fluid as low or old fluid can affect the way the transmission shifts. If the fluid does not fix it, it might be an issue within the transmission itself.
