Thank you. I'm an American descendent of the MacFarland clan and recently took up the pipes at age 60. Others in my family were ahead of me and are accomplished pipers. I have learned much from your lessions. Keep up the great videos.

Very nice, thank you! That is a healthy wee dram of whisky LOL. I am currently nursing a bottle of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 year I got for Christmas.

Thank you for this gift. I don't know how the algorithm knew to send me here, now, but I'm thrilled. My great uncle was a piper with the Black Watch, and my nephew now has the pipes, but sadly doesn't play. I feel closer to my family hearing this, though I'm across the pond in the land without proper haggis.

Descendant in Canada here... thank you for putting this together. It added something genuine to my solitude supper tonight. Haggis, Neeps, Tatties and Scotch Eggs, with a Single Malt to sip. My heart is truly there.

Thank you very much for this. This is the closest thing to a Burns Night celebration I've had. Perhaps next year after the covid is behind us, I can attend a real celebration. I've yet to eat haggis, and I've been waiting until the opportunity for the piping in and recitation of the ode to eat it. Again, thank you, and Slàinte!

What can I say? This is absolutely wonderful. My paternal ancestors were from Scotland. I love Robert Burns poems and music, but it is so difficult to understand his dialect today. I really appreciated the modern English translations.

I don't know how I came to this channel, I just was finding bagpipes music, and then and then I ran into you, and Robert Burns, beautiful video, music, and poems.
A big greeting from Costa Rica!

Good evening Tress, Last Saturday 13th February was the anniversary of the Massacre of the MacDonald's of Glen Coe by troops commanded by Robert Campbell of Glenlyon. A tune called in Gaelic Mhnathan a Ghlinne So / Women of this Glen was reputedly played by Campbell's piper to warn the MacDonald's of what was about to take place. There's a Scottish fiddle player by the name of Ian Anderson who played this tune last Friday online. There is also a Gaelic singer by the name of Alasdair Gillies who sings a song to the same tune online. If you get a chance Tress have a listen to this. It's a beautiful tune but it is also very sad considering its associations to the massacre.

Burns’s words just sound so wrong with an American accent. It was bad enough when I was a wee boy in Inverness, singing Sweet Afton at school with a highland accent. At least it was another Scottish accent, but American ? No - just no.
