  • Historic first landing of a Boeing 757-200 passenger jet at St Helena Airport, and largest aircraft to date, when the Titan Airways flight touched down on Thu 30 July, 2020.
This special repatriation charter flight from UK brought in 51 passengers, (including 7 from Ascension Island) and returned to the UK next day with 94 passengers.
This video was taken over two days - the arrival on 30 July, then a series of training circuits on the airport the next morning.
Special thanks to St Helena Airport for facilitating the making of this video.

The 757, such beautiful aircraft. Absolutely love flying on these when possible. Almost had one last week (ATL to DTW) but Delta switched the flight to a 767-432 (ER) smokey Joe, still a lot of fun though. Got knocked around pretty good on the ascent, never worried a bit. Great to see Delta maintaining the vast majority of 57's still airworthy and a very respectable number of 67's as well.

It's fuel consumption per seat mile is only slightly higher that the newest planes. Dankie/ Merci Saints for this video. I watch it 2x. I thought it was possible for 3 000m runway. I will be in a cross to Runway 20. Now I see, with St. Helena in the back-round. I will be very very expensive job. Too expensive, BUT not impossible....

At the end of the day most things like this boil down to funds. In hindsight, a tiny bit more length on the runway would probably have made all the difference and travel from here would have been a lot more affordable.
Glad you liked the video. Cheers

We still have challenging weather conditions, especially wind, however, the knowledge gathered these past few years and the weather forecasting expertise all now contributes to a smooth and reliable service.
Delays, when they do happen, are mostly due to low cloud conditions rather than the wind.

Hi Angelo, the Titan Airways flights (in this video) operated for two years, 2020-2022, during Covid-19 isolation.
Since March 2022 the island is once again served by a regular, weekly flight (Saturdays) from Johannesburg, South Africa, by Airlink.
You book tickets via the Airlink website.
And for holiday accommodation on the island, see: travelsthelena.com/

Great vid! I have one question - are they doing the training circuits? I saw the A319 did it too a few months ago - is that some type of certification process for the airport to be able to accept these types on a regular basis or is Titan airways itself planing a more frequent connection to the Island? It would be exciting if there would be more options to fly there!

@@whatthesaintsdidnext thank you, I am very proud of him and it was his first time landing there so it must’ve been very stressful especially with the windy conditions landing there and considering how big of a plane the 757 is but yet a very capable plane too, Boeing make the best aircraft hands down 🫡 and my dad handles the 757 extremely well, sadly the 757 has now been sold but is now used as a British airforce anti missile system test bed, better than the 757 being scrapped or left in a desert to rot

Yes, your dad and all the pilots who land here do a fantastic job. We were on a flight in ourselves just last week and the pilots announced the wind conditions were 50-60km/h just before we landed, but they really nailed the landing first time, it was so impressive and reassuring. We never flew on the Titan flights ourselves, but one of our parents did, out and back, and they had nothing but praise for the pilots and crew. All the best Daniel
