Ya dude I just got into it, been getting yellow bass lately. It’s been such a good experience. I went from November to April catching 3 fish. The past 4 sessions I’ve caught 40+ yellow bass and 2 cats. Been using a Shakespeare cheap micro series And president 20. Great set up for like 55$ from Walmart
The first catch on that 2lb test I didn’t know what to expect, I was scared my line would snap.
I've done a lot of crappie fishing with 2lb. My last video I did was for spotted bass and it was a blast!! I broke a good one off forgetting I had 2lb on..

If you get excited by those one pounders, you should come to Ohio and I'll take you to my family's lake. We do selective harvesting (fish fry's) every couple years and because of that the average Crappie in the lake is now about 2 pounds, as well as Bluegills averaging about the same. Last couple summers I thought I was fighting Bass and they just turned out to be Giant Gills.
In Florida I always caught my biggest crappie on little jointed rapalas. I highly recommend you try them for slabs.

You should try the Bobby Garland Baby Shad. That's my favorite crappie lure. The trout magnet/crappie magnet work well for panfish also. 👊👍

Iam from northwest ga and there is a hidden pond that looks identical to the first one you went to. It very close to my house. I have been wanting to check it out but haven't yet. It looks just like that one frome the Google maps. I live on the Georgia and Alabama line so i fish lake Weiss a lot and there know for the crappie. Awesome vid

Bill - I often fish such landscapes - walking LONG distances through heavy brush to get to a small trout stream or pond. After years of doing so with a 6-foot rod and spending a substantial amount of time de-tangling the line out of leaves and branches ... I had a severe brain fart - I started using a 24-inch long ice fishing rod with my favorite ultralight reel! Now, I can just hold the rod against my chest and "shoulder" my way through the brush. The rod has enough backbone to pull walleyes out of the ice, so it works very well for trout and panfish (personal best with it was a 2.5 pound smallie) and the casting - distance is more than adequate and the accuracy can be amazing with a touch of practice!
