11 Days Solo Camping in the YUKON Wilderness - Special Episode:
Now that we’re about half way trough this series, I’ve released this special episode which is basically a highlight reel - a condensed version of the first six episodes. You’ll see me outfitting the canoe in Whitehorse, boarding the floatplane for my float plane drop off on a remote river, the Bonnet Plume, Portaging, bushwhacking, camping and canoeing in the wild mountain country. Enjoy! and stay tuned for the next episode of this series that’ll be dropping on Thursday at 7pm ET.
The Yukon is a place where dreams are made and where adventurers have been going to follow their dreams since the Klondike gold rush in the 1880s. As much as anyone, I went there to follow my dreams and they became a reality…..but I wanted to go back, and I did. This film series covers my second big solo adventure in the Yukon.

ty for the video ! Jim !
Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
Thanks Jim. Unfortunately for you, my favorite parts are the hard portage parts. Gives a sense of suffering you go through. Makes the trip all that more impressive.
You betcha, Jim!
Great narration! ..very genuine.
Thanks for producing, yet, another interesting and inspiring vid!
Ps I hope I can produce such great content!
Stay Safe!
When these vedios popped on my feed,I was in awe, although I'm scared of camping and woods and stuff,I get a sense of peace watching these series..you and your wife rock...
I am 89 years old thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. My Dad helped build the Alaskan highway
Very cool, glad you like it and thanks for sharing
I was born in Alaska when it was still a territory. My father helped with the Alcan. Log cabins, root cellars, running a trap line, tanning animal hides, listening to wolves, were just part of life. We lost our homestead in the "Good Friday" earthquake of 64. Thanks for the memories!
oh maan the places you take us to whew,,,,here we GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thanks!
Fella, get out there!

Sitting on my couch in the middle of February, dreaming of spring and fishing and hiking adventures! Thank you for the wholesome entertainment! You’re amazing!
Canoe, camping, fishing, looking for gold, singing in the middle of nowhere what more can you ask for!! God Bless my friend!!
I am just truly lost at the Beauty and cleanliness of this Northern countryside. 🌌🌌🌌🌌⛄
very cool Jim . This Old Boy Enjoy It. And Will Be Waiting ! :)
Production skills are outstanding. You somehow still manage to capture the raw, independent nature of the adventure. By far the best on CZcams, or anywhere for that matter.
The production is amazing because there's a team of people working on it
@@tzuccolo2001 Lol, umm, no. It's just me out there filming. Think about it. How many shots do you even see of me paddling from shore or that could potentially be shot from another boat? None. I set a tripod up on shore or along the trail a few times. There are also no shots of me at camp that that move while I'm in the frame so, it's on a tripod, obviously no camera man. Why would I lie also? Funny that you sound so sure "there's a team of people working on it" haha, don't you just have it all figured haha.
Holymoly!! WOW!! This footage is fantastic...I am truly speechless...SOOO AMAZING!!!! thanks for sharing!! I can't wait to see more.
You’re very welcome! Thanks a lot for tuning in and giving my channel a shot. Great to have ya here and I’m glad you like it. I’m just heading out on another trip to the Yukon now!
Thank you for taking me along with you at this journey. Far away from Vienna, Austria, but in my phantasy I am on your side.
You and your brother have earned the rite to film the new “Wild North America “series. It should be a tv series.
You go Baird brothers, eh!
Thanks a lot, ya that would be pretty cool for sure
I've been following you for a few years now- excellent videos and I don't stop watching till the end of each. I'm an adventurer but unfortunately a bit too old to be able to what you're doing. Keep it up
Much appreciated and it’s nice to connect with someone who can appreciate as an adventurer themselves.
Once again amazing trip Jim. Great filming and editing. I love the feeling of being right there with you. Awesome!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Great video!
Wow! What a tremendous film! It really makes me yearn for my youth, lol. Sadly I'm an armchair adventurer now but I can live vicariously through films like this. Thank you for that!
No problem with that! Glad you like the content!

You’re very welcome and I’m glad you got so much out of it! Have a great day.
Beautiful footage, I enjoyed watching. Someone I knew did a solo Yukon trip, she wrote a very good book about, it's easier to for me to copy and paste an Amazon review of it -
Solo on the Yukon and Solo on the Yukon Again by Helen Broomell.
"In the summer of 1981, 64-year-old Helen Broomell, mother of six and grandmother of ten, set off with an old aluminum canoe that had been shortened by cutting and riveting. She had found a ride on a ride board from her home in Wisconsin to Dawson, British Columbia, and the Yukon River. After three weeks paddling 600 miles by herself, she spent the next four months exploring Alaska by plane, train, Alaska Ferry, hitchhiking, river rafting, and dogsledding. Two years later, Helen returned and picked up her canoe at the gas station by the pipeline bridge where she had left it, and paddled another 750 miles by herself. When the weather got bad before she reached her destination (about 100 miles from the Bering Sea), she traded her canoe for a boat ride, and again spent several months traveling all over Alaska by any means available. This book combines her journals from both trips into one volume, and includes unforgettable anecdotes about bears, native villages, making friends, and being self-reliant."
YES YES YES!!!!!! whoo hoo!!!!!
Thanks

I’m glad you like it and thanks! I don’t actually own any of the companies such as the outfitter I worked with in Whitehorse but I share knifes on them as they’re an important contact for anyone who’s looking to do a trip in the Yukon.

Absolutely stunning natural surroundings. I can even believe how beautiful this is and how adventurous to feel. So much of this video reminded me that I should have been doing more hiking and adventures as I moved to big capital and forgot my connection with nature. Thank you so much for bringing me back to this. Sending much love :)
I have just started watching your video and I’m in absolute awe of you, Jim. I’m an avid writer of poems,..and know I’m in for one heck of end of my seat ride! Blessings my friend 💐

I can't hear or see the word Yukon without remembering my time in Alaska as a kid. We moved there by vehicle and traveled the AlCan to get there. When we moved away, we traveled the AlCan again. The AlCan is a must drive. You'll never regret 1 mile of it. We drove from Georgia to Alaska and back to Georgia again. It was the adventure of a lifetime.
That’s awesome! I actually have a video of me driving the Alcan in winter. Here’s a link to it czcams.com/video/OUmYpCB2bPE/video.html
I live in Alaska and your intro poem is my favorite poem ever in the world.
Awesome. It makes a lot of sense because this is the second big solo trip I didn’t in the Yukon…I wanted to go back and I did

So inspiring; what an adventure!
Thanks!
The singing in this video makes it awesome
I am deeply impressed to see you run this river alone, making such a wonderful film! A work of art! Good thing I have ears, or my grin would have gone all the way around my head.
Listening to you read the river and then run it brought back old memories of a trip on the Athabaska River and whitewater classes on the Madawaska in Ontario. I got at least a glimpse of that special world. Today I am too old for these adventures, but the pictures and memories are in my head. Greetings from Germany!
Just breathtaking! Where to start. Your videography is so good. I dont know how you do it with all the challenges you face. The beautiful mountains that look like volcanoes with clouds hanging over, beautiful sunsets, wildlife and winding waterways. What is my favorite part of this series so far...it's all so fascinating. I get to see the wild Yukon that I'd otherwise never see. Shooting the rapids is captivating. You are quite expert at it, using good judgment in scouting out the difficulty before your run them. Your survival skills and knowledge are impressive to say the least. Didnt even recognize you with the short hair and no beard. Wonderful series. Waiting for the next video. Cheers from Wisconsin .
Jim Baird is a Master at the Canu , Great footage Jim ! 😯👍
Thanks!
I know what you mean! “Getting sick of being scared shitless”. Been there myself a number of times. Great footage.
Lol, thanks
Hi Mr Jim Baird thank you so much through out the years of you and your wife making great videos. You are serious . funny . inspirational . and knowable. I love watching these videos.

Also went back several times to Dawson and the mighty Yukon. Never changes.
Ok Jim I confess while waiting for you to upload I tired to watch other adventurers, and with no disrespect, they don’t seem to have the same excitement and enthusiasm that you bring. Going back to your archives while I wait. Keep up the great work 🛶⛰
Thanks a lot!
Great videos. Thanks for creating. What a challenge!
What a wonderful trip Jim. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
