1 kg pork belly (2 lb 3¼ oz)
1 onion
vegetable oil
Salt
Black pepper
6 cloves of garlic
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
250 ml water (1 cup)
2 bay leaves
5 - 7 whole black peppercorns
1-2 tbsp lime juice
2 onions
1 carrot
spring onions
120 g flour (1 cup)
30 g cornstarch (¼ cup)
1 tbsp onion powder
1/3 tbsp garlic powder
1/3 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp baking powder
180 ml sparkling water (¾ cup)
vegetable oil for frying

Hello from Australia. What a wonderful receipe as passed down through the generations. I loved its simplicity. At the risk of making your Grandmother sighm might I suggest using some sort of seed oil for the frying. Seed oil has a higher flash point so you can frying at higher temperatures without danger and with a greater degree of crispness. Also seed oil does not normally hold onto food, so food dries quickly and with no oil residue. (You will save paper towels and the like.) Many thanks for taking the time to share this cooking gem.

Mir gefällt ja wirklich sehr, wie gekocht wird. Die Rezepte sind wirklich super. Nur muß ich immer über die Überschriften lachen; Die geheime Technik meiner Großmutter. Dies ist natürlich ein Witz. Keine unserer Großmütter hat mit Sojasauce und Austernsauce gekocht.
Da gebe ich Dir total recht, dass kannte meine Großmutter überhaupt nicht.
