Known as the Taipei version of the Four Grass Green Tunnel, the "Old Shuangxi River Trail" in Beitou offers lush riverside forests and rare pastoral scenery in Taipei, making it a hidden leisure spot in the outskirts of Taipei.
The Old Shuangxi River is the old riverbed where the Shuangxi River meets the Keelung River, a tributary of the Keelung River, also known as the Wufen Harbor Creek. Upstream of the Wufen Harbor Creek, there is a dam providing irrigation water for the surrounding farmland. The water flow is relatively gentle, with dense bamboo forests along the banks. Downstream of the dam, there are trails for walking along the banks, where you can often see dense forests on both sides of the river, reflecting the sky and water, creating a charming green tunnel-like scenery.
