Haven't read his books before. I'm currently reading "Actualized" by Jenetta Penner. It's the last in a Trilogy. I'm currently working on my project Realm manuscript. Ignore my not so great placeholder name. It's about someone who works in a bookstore but is keeping a secret from her family until things get complicated. It's a real world meeting other world type story. Fantasy and scifi mixed in. It's been fun to write. I'm hoping to get it published. I'm also working on another project as well.

I seriously ADORE this series, however I do have some feedback on the Scotch you chose. Chivas is not very beginner friendly unless you stick with it and get used to it, which I do not recommend. Instead, try Monkey Shoulder. Seriously THE best beginner scotch IMO. Stay away from peated stuff like Islay, those take a while to get used to. Ice was also a mistake. 2 or 3 drops of water are amazing at opening up the condensed flavors and letting you explore it a bit more.

    JOE HELLER
    True story, Word of Honor:
Joseph Heller, an important and funny writer
    now dead,
and I were at a party given by a billionaire
    on Shelter Island.
I said, “Joe, how does it make you feel
to know that our host only yesterday
    may have made more money
    than your novel ‘Catch-22’
has earned in its entire history?”
And Joe said, “I’ve got something he can never have.”
And I said, “What on earth could that be, Joe?”

OMG Kate, just pour the Scotch out on the lawn! LMAO
My husband is BIG into Scotch. I told him what you said when you tried it, and he said "Tell her to add drops of water." You don't mix anything with Scotch; you just put an ice cube in it (just one) or a few drops of water. Let it sit for a bit to mellow. But there are two types of Scotch, peaty (like seaweed) and salty. I don't like either. My husband loves the peat.

This was a fun video to watch! I have a soft spot for Vonnegut. I wrote my first "real" literary criticism paper on Slaughterhouse Five in high school, and it has stuck with me for 20 years. I still reference that book regularly. I've read other of his works, but that one's still my favorite.
Also, Scotch note: some are smoother than others. It's my husband's drink of choice (he's American-Scottish/Irish, so), and he's tried a lot of various Scotches and whiskeys. I don't like most of them, but I do like a handful of the smoother ones. As a fellow Texan (hello from southwest Bexar County!), I will recommend Yellow Rose whiskey, which is on the mellow side. I add hazelnut liqueur to it. Scotch really needs some sweetening. The only one I've ever been able to drink straight is Dalmore, which is actually also whiskey, not Scotch. So maybe go for a whiskey instead!

He wrote in a world of typewriters and ink, landlines and snail mail, vinyl and face-to-face. His writing tools didn't have the in-built ability to open up the Internet with single click. I wonder if it would change the way we wrote, to have so many fewer digital distractions, to have less of our lives mediated through pixels.

I so badly wanted to just breezy through the narrative even if the zero draft is awful, but now I can't stop thinking about my characters, their development, things I want to change...at this point I'm just trying not to get stuck in the day dreaming process and to actually FINISH A DRAFT. I tried reading Hocus Pocus and didn't get far. Which pains me because I love witty humor. I think I should try again. I'm working on replotting my completed draft of Sin Eater so it's tighter and better, I'm planning a graphic novel, and I'm plotting the first book in a three book series of mid-grades. Im not going to lie. I looked up Kurt and that's when I found out he had already passed a long time ago
I said "Oh he's already dead." out loud and my sister said
    "what?"
    What is my life

Hi Kate! I love these videos. Between looking for a real job and freelance work, I'm writing a sci-fi thriller and trying to decide what else to do, revise a nonfiction proposal? Work on my apocalyptic adventure tale, or write a post-apocalypse fantasy. So, reading? Not really? I started Empire of the East and Dies the Fire, but can't seem to make progress on either one. Who should you write like next? Hmm...can you emulate Hunter S. Thompson without breaking any laws? LOL.

If you put your hands under your shoulders during a pushup (with your elbow at your sides), it makes them easier to do - because you're more stable - and it's closer to the way the pectorals and triceps are used (think, like, kneading bread. Archaic ladies were BUFF from kneading bread).

    Kate! Quick guide to whiskys!
Scotch: made in Scotland (just like tequila has to be made in Mexico to be called tequila and champagne has to be made in the champagne region of France) with different grain typically than whiskey, and they also use Peat Moss in the process. I love a grassy tasting scotch with a splash of water.
Bourbon = America, and over 90% of bourbon is made in Kentucky
Rye whiskey is made with rye grain, it tends to be sweeter and have a bit more of a bite to it.
Canadian whiskey = made in Canada (crown royal)

I don't have a set routine since a lot of it is dependant on my family. If my fiancé wants to go out we're going out. If he's able to do something by himself in the morning then I'm able to stay at home. I'm learning that my best time to work and write is at night. I don't have time when I wake up and normally my life is busy with doing work around the house until 8pm. That said, after 8pm I'm able to sit down and finish a lot of my work.

  • @shanondowling487

I am not a morning writer so his routine would never work for me. I just recently bought Slaughterhouse Five and your video has made me want to pick it up even though I'm doing Camp Nano this month, and working, and have a family who requires attention lol. I'm working on my scifi book I call Origins. It's the first in a duology I've been working on for a couple years but I decided this book needed a complete rewrite.
