I didn't know if you knew but the music on your videos is really loud, but then when you come on to speak it's much quieter. I just lower and raise the volume as I watch, but I wasn't sure if you knew... Anyway, thanks for the video :)

Sorry about that! Usually I try to go through and adjust the audio (the music options always start off super loud when first added) but must have missed making that adjustment

High school is a different kind of planning. We are also doing that physics but i teach it at a co-op so i plan it a little differently to fit with that. And change the labs some. But it is a solid easy to work with curriculum

The only thing I wish the physics had was a lesson plan included with it. Most of the other courses we have done from that company had the daily readings, labs etc all scheduled out but I had to figure that all out myself this year. On the plus side, now that I’ve done that legwork it’s all ready to go when my next child takes the course!

@@mypracticallyimperfectlife oh yes that could be helpful. I change this around some anyway since I teach at a co-op but a starting point is helpful.

Thank you for showing part of the planning for Excellence in Literature. We are looking at this for high school and I wanted to ask what you recommend to prepare for the composition part of high school, since EIL is a full English credit. For example, if you did EIL + a year of IEW Level C in the same school year, that would be too much, but would IEW Level B in middle school prepare a student for EIL in high school?

My oldest (the one doing EIL) did IEW structure and style in 6th grade then did a theme based writing program from them in 7th/8th. Her freshman year I had her do the IEW high school essay intensive course (they are offering something similar this year but I believe it has a new name). I really wanted to make sure she did an essay intensive early on in high school since I knew she was going to be writing a lot of essays, regardless of which literature curriculum we chose. So freshman year she did do the essay intensive, which took about half of the school year along with excellence and literature. Her sophomore year we tried a different lit curriculum along with another theme based program from IEW.
This is actually the first year that she hasn’t had a separate writing curriculum from her literature curriculum. But I would definitely recommend the IEW structure and style course in middle school. I think it’s excellent, and gave them both a really solid foundation in writing. And then whether or not you choose to do any of their theme based programs in subsequent years, I think the essay intensive courses are a great add on in high school.
