    I love this series!
    Here are some tips for you if you're interested:
    1). Beavers don't eat berries unless there is no other food available, so when your storage is full there is no point in gathering more berries. It's good to keep them as a backup food.
    2). You have plenty of food growing in your fields, prioritize planting over harvesting because they are picking up all carrots from fields before planting new one - your fields are empty for the most time because of that, thus you have to wait longer to get food, and that's where your problem with food is/was/will be. Instead when you prioritize planting, they will pick up crops and plant them at that spot almost at the same time, which would mean new crops are growing while the grown ones are being picked up. Those berry pickers would be far more useful in farms. And no, you don't have "so much food."
    3). You need either scaffoldings next to your tall building projects (as tall as those builds) or a staircase leading to the very top and a path there so they can build from the top instead of from the bottom.
    4). You will need more water storage - you've unlocked gears workshop, unlock medium water tanks which are a lot better.
    5). Generally speaking the number of water sources stones is also the width you need to prevent your dam from overtopping. For example for 4 water sources you need 4 floodgates in each direction.
    6). Buildings share power with adjacent buildings, so you don't have to connect everything with gear shafts - I personally love watching and hearing gears spinning so I connect everything with shafts

I did my dam at the stop which worked well particularly when wanting power as the top flat area is great for industry. Keep it up. Great job.

      It means I'm behind on gears and getting my first metal, and the rest of the game progression, but at least my beavers and crops and trees are safe.
      Now I really need to work towards getting dynamite!
      I do hope future badtides won't be much worse than the first one, it really isn't a part of the game I find fun to play with.

    A little tip.
    Building can be done from any height from above, however building from below the beavers can only reach upwards 2. So they can reach the ground level as well as 1 level up, thats why the stairs in front if the dam let them build some parts but not others. The lower portions of the stairs were too low to allow them to build up fully. That being said the proper way to go about building such a project is to first build up the scaffolding. Start with the proper platforms to get 2 stairs upwards then a row if platforms at that same height. So basicall a row of 2 tall platforms with a single tall platform on one end for the stairs to sit on top of. Then build up another row of 2 tall platforms on top the previous platforms, again with a 1 tall at the end to accommodate the stairs going up, then place the stairs and start working on the next row of platforms. Rinse and repeat until your desired height is met and start building your large project from there, right next to the scaffolding.
    Remember they can reach forever downwards (somehow) but can only reach up (from ground level) 2 blocks.

    This game needs some form of automation. For instance the plank thing.. Imagine if you could just leave it on, and when the internal storage got filled, instead of the beaver just sitting idle on his butt, the factory got automatically paused, releasing the beaver to do other tasks.. and when planks were again used for stuff, the plankfactory got unpaused, putting a beaver back to generate more planks.
    Sure, some love the micromanagement.. Personally, i enjoy the potential of choosing to add some automation like that.
    ..there's probably a mod for that.

      I love Timberborn. I have clocked ~ 500 hours on it. Having that kind of quality of life improvement is nice. The thing is, even now, without the automation you suggest, the game puts a huge load on the CPU. In a village with above 1000 beavers you need a beast of a CPU to catch up with the processing demand, specially on higher game speeds. I wonder if the devs might be hesitant to add more load on the CPU.

    I found a mix of oak and birch worked out well for tree harvesting. The oak takes a long time but yields quite a bit per tree. Birch are quick but only generates one log per tree. That way you end up with a small, steady income of logs with an occasional large bump in the supply. Otherwise you are just chasing your log production. Waiting for the trees to grow.

    - you are trying to push 4 tiles of water through 2 tile gap, this will not end well
    - beavers can reach infinitely down (I imagine that they drop the resources down and somehow manage to get them land perfectly to assemble into what you are making) so I usually build dams with an access to first top tile and once they finish it they can stand on it to build the next one (for levees you need extra path since they can't stand on top of them)
    - you are getting to the point that 2 pumps can pump fast enough and your farms can't harvest all the food (especially if you reduce the workers)
    - I use haulers as a buffer, set one hauling post to 10 workers and lowest priority so when there aren't enough workers everything works and there are just fewer haulers

    Not sure if you're aware of it or not, you don't have to clear stumps manually like I see at 13:34. The easiest way is to just plant crops or trees right over the stumps. If you're just clearing them to clear them, you can build paths over them and use the clearing tool to remove the paths... Much quicker and doesn't require labor.

    Beavers will build things in the order the build orders were placed (ie objects you place first will be built first). Beavers can only build 1 tile upwards but can build an infinite number of tiles downwards. When building things like dams, rather than trying to build each layer at a time, it's useful to build 1 side up to the level you need, ensure they have access to the top and then the beavers can builder across from the side with no additional scaffolding needed.
    Also farmers should prioritise planting over harvesting (at least if you have 1, all fields should have crops growing in them for maximum efficiency. It takes less time to plant crops than to harvest them.

    A little tip Biffa.
    When it comes to growing trees i usually go for 2x the amount of Birch to Oak. I know that the Oak is a good deal but they take so long to grow that you will likely have 1-2 droughts/bad tides before they are ready.
    Birch can get you a more steady supply while you wait for the Oak and the Oak will fill your stockpile when its ready.

    It would work better if you put 2- or 3-tall floodgates across the entry to your valley, instead of blocking the place where the river comes down.
    Wait a day after the badwater ends before reopening them, to give the contamination a chance to be flushed out.
    The badwater tide has to go SOMEwhere, and that way you can shunt it off the map along the path the the regular badwater takes, through that contaminated lake and off the edge of the map.
    You can place some 1-high levees across that little gap, to stop the regular badwater from coming through, and/or perhaps add some floodgates there, that you can open during badtides to drain them.

    • @hanneken4026
      @hanneken4026 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'm just playing my first Timberborn game on this same map, just a few cycles ahead of you at the moment.
      I've figured out that if I put up levees along both riverbanks, and a 'channel' of 2 rows of 4 levees between the riverbank and the round sunken area, and add in a floodgate at the entry of that channel and the little blocked stream you discovered, then I can raise the level of the river without flooding everything.
      Then, AFTER you've protected your low-lieing land, you can put in a single row of levees (dams don't hold back enough, but dams on top of those levees work well) across the river at the downstream waterfall. That way you reserve enough water during droughts that stuff doesn't die, though there's no flow for the waterwheel.
      Using the little channel between levees to fill the circular depression with water after the trees are cut will green a lot of that low area, and keep it green during droughts.
      I find it very frustrating that my beavers cannot dig a small channel like that, and I had to build it all from levees at a cost of very many logs, so I'm not at all sure this is the best way to go.
      As a Dutchie creating channels and dikes/levees to increase reliably arable land seemed the most logical step to me; but since beavers aroung here damage dikes and railway embankments with their digging, them not being able to move some dirt around until they harness the pollution to make dynamite feels very counter-intuitive and frustrating , so maybe I chose an unproductive path.
      I look forward to seeing what you'll be making of this 😊

    That dam won't work, you need to fill the interior aswell.
    The way it is atm some badwater will get trapped and keep contaminating the water supply later

    • @sirmonkey1985
      @sirmonkey1985 Před 4 měsíci +2

      it dilutes the bad water so currently any fresh water makes the water normal and it's just visual that it's bad water. i'm sure it'll get improved later so it actually uses a percentage rating to determine if it's bad or good water.

    Predictions: 1. Bad water will be diverted by your dam as desired, but then run back into your supply at the bottom. 2. When the bad water ends, and good water returns, it will be contaminated by the bad water stuck behind your dam. (Remember that pool at the bottom that you can't even empty?

    • @BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines
      @BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I've explained before. My thumbnails are the final image after about 10 or more I went through before the idea came to life. It took a few hours to finally get this how I wanted it. At the start, I didn't even know what I wanted. Thumbnail artists don't just "draw a beaver", they want the full idea from me (which i didn't have at the start) , 2 days notice, and you'll get 1 or 2 pics back with limited tweaks. Then after a video is released i often change the thumbnail again with a totally different idea.... Using an artist isn't practical for my process at all, it just doesn't work for me at all. I've tried before, believe me.
      So it's either a thumb artist that can work the way I need, or pics from the game (really not that enticing) or this. Or I draw it and I can't draw.
      There's much more involved that just asking someone to just "draw a beaver".
      Hope that makes sense. Just trying to help people understand the process involved and not just give a quick take and think that's the answer.
      All the best😁👍
