    As always - thoughtful and compelling stuff. I am happy to see that you are holding true to yourself and making content about what to do with the microphones after one buys them. As an owner of four of your recommended mics (in the description), most of the time (more with my voice than the clarinet) I am just fooling around for my own enjoyment. Even with the clarinet, the difference maker seems to be more about placement than which mic I am actually using. I feel like I can make the 57 and the Lewitt 440 sound basically the same in the DAW despite the fact that what gets initially captured is quite different.
    Anyway - looking forward to what you make next

      @@AudioHaze I have a question about my workflow...if you don't want to take the time to teach me in response - I understand that better than you would imagine....however if you do I would love your opinion.
      When I make videos I use two mics - one for my voice and one for the clarinet. I then edit the file to the appropriate one at the appropriate time. I purchased an NT1 5th gen recently. Would I get be able to get similar results recording in 32 bit float with the mic positioned to pick up both my voice and clarinet? Would I spend just as much time editing in this situation? I know I can just try it...but your expert opinion may save me some time in the process and eliminate what would certainly be boneheaded ideas along the way.

    119 to 289 is budget to you ?? Dang so what is my 60 Samson q2u then? The super poor low low budget microphone ? 😂 I’m just playing. I like your videos I subscribed after just watching 2 of them. I wanted to ask you what’s your opinion. On se electronics v7 and the telefunken m80? I’m looking for a mic in those price ranges that works for studio and stage. Telefunken claims the m80 can do this but reviews seem mixed. And yeah I would use a condenser but room treatment not good enough it’s treated some but not entirely. That’s why I like super cardiod microphones for blocking out around noise

  • @JothanGurr
    @JothanGurr Před rokem +1

    I stan my LA 220 and I'm wondered why it doesn't get more love? I have a bass baritone singing range and it captures the low in my voice with punch and clarity that smokes a bunch of mics I matched up against it including the AKG C214, Elecro Voice RE-320, SenheiserMK4, Stellar X2 which was a close 2nd for me on my voice, Warm Audio AW 414, and Aston Spirit. I wouldn't trade my LA 220 for anything except for maybe a more expensive Lauten like the Clarion

      I have tried it on the underside of a snare, and thus far the most useful and pleasing sound compared to others I have used. Only used a pair of overheads, kick and the 308 for snare, full rich sounding kit!... also a traditional hand drum, it sounds like there is a drum in the room when played back through the speakers.... excellent for these applications and some others, but some sources not so exciting, like any mic has its place, I have found the 308 is very obvious when it is or isnt, not so much mid-ground... hope that helps!

    I love cheap mics. I’ve got loads of them! I look at it this way, I can have one really expensive mic or lots of cheaper ones that give me options. Honestly, I think super expensive mics are over rated anyway. By the time you add Eq and processing to a recording, there’s not much left of the original signal anyway!
    Oh, and who was that playing guitar, it was awesome?

    • @AudioHaze

    Meh. After reviewing so many good microphones, the narrator has convinced me what microphone I use has little or no bearing on one's MESSAGE. Serious "influencers" do not obsess over what microphone they use. Instead, they focus on their MESSAGE, discussing important, substantial and significant social, health, business, political and other issues. Given reasonably good mic technique, the particular microphone will have little or no impact on the message. Parenthetically, I am unimpressed by narrators with low self esteem evidenced by poor grooming and hygeine. Yeah, I know the curly lock to the side is intentional. But, being a slob does not exactly convey convey technical expertise and credibility. And that is just MY take. Your mileage may vary. Meh. I will move on to more important matters. JT
