  • Quick restoration of a 15 tube 1970 Motorola. The image is really clear and turned out great. Hopefully I can find an older set in the future to make a longer video about.

    Where have you been jack, we missed your sobs and sighs and your cleverness of repairing the vintage sets .. 🌹☺️👍

      Thank you! I got a new job and it's been very time consuming so I don't think I can put out as many videos as I'd like to at the moment

    I work at goodwill and we got almost exactly the same model donated just the other day. I wash shocked when I turned it on and it actually worked!! Haven’t opened it up, but I’d assume it’s also tubes since aside from slight differences in the configuration of the front nobs, it’s an identical set. The one we got wasn’t even dusty, so I figure someone had been taking pretty good care of it. Always amazing by these old TVs

      All the Goodwills I’ve been to recently unfortunately have stopped putting out old TVs. They are definitely making a nostalgic comeback and wish they were more available than just estate sales.

    Great video! Not many of these tabletops survive, so good on you for adopting this one.
    New jobs are draining for the first few months; no worries.
    The ceramic caps in my experience are simply paper caps encased in ceramic tubes. As unreliable as any other paper capacitors.🙃
    Your videos are fantastic. You’re good at this! Also IMO, this is your channel; whatever you want to share; whenever you get around to it is okay. No apologies necessary. Best wishes for success in your new position.

    I wish there was a detailed tutorial for modern CRTs built around late 90s or 2000s, showing details of which parts do what. we have 2. one not working, but the high voltage aspect really scares me.

      I agree. But schematics of later CRTs around that time are impossible to find unfortunately. I’m not a fan of repairing later sets cause the components keep getting smaller and smaller. The high voltage is worrisome but if you know how to discharge the picture tube, you’ll be okay.

    Hi Jack, the new generations of audio visual sete are not intresting for the fans of vintage old sets

    I wonder if that pot box that had the vert. issue, suffered from "tin whiskers" also ?

    • @televisionforever
      @televisionforever  Před rokem

      I think it might have. That box is pretty closed together so opening it up and washing it out definitely helped.
