I know it's real early and there will be expected bugs and such but I'm so stoked. With all these features Rebelle 7 is gonna end up being my go to art program for everything. Thanks WeeBob. :D

Just downloaded it and went through it just for half an hour to look things hour and holy moly... So much stuff. Just the upgrades to existing things in itself is massive! The paper update is soo good as well. I instantly felt the change without even playing around with the options yet.
I am so happy I decided to upgrade from Rebelle 6! Escape Motions REALLY need to get better at promoting, because their videos did NOT tell even HALF of these updates...

I used to make paths, in Blender, with normal maps. It was pretty hard to combine the normals of the paint texture, paper texture and the object texture (of the one I use as a "path"). It was a tough experience, but I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.
Blender is still a great tool as well. I need to figure out a program to make my own paths maybe it is Blender. All the best with Rebelle 7 and let me know how you get on. Thanks. Bob.

Great video! Love the explanation. Rebelle is already my painting program and I use Photoshop as a bridge between Blender and Rebelle. Can't wait for the release. I hope it is stable and it doesn't crash every time I open it, like Rebelle 6 Pro. Although, I wanted to know more about authentic brushes. I thought we were gonna stop using digital stamps that mimics brushes, but I was wrong.
Sounds like a complex workflow you have. It is still digital stamps they do have some extra options for smudging the stroke but I haven't had as much time messing around as I would like. The latest version of Bera was very stable on my setup but I am not expecting a flawless version just yet but maybe I will be proven wrong. I like escape motions though as they are always pushing boundaries and fixing bugs etc. All the best and thanks for watching and commenting.
The new layer effects could do with the addition of a simple layer mask, you're better off using this for its unique (but often limited) drawing/painting tool to get the basics down-pat and then exporting and compositing layers with the far more advanced tools in Photoshop.....when the link plug-in works......the latest version claims M1 mac optimisation but you can still only run the link plug-in by booting photoshop in intel/rosetta emulation. I think this company could do with MORE developers (and less gimicky software to support).
I don't use it in this capacity. You clearly have much more experience than I do on that front. I agree that to grow the software they will need to get a solid stable version this year and then focus on providing the package in its current form. Focus should then be on a tablet version preferably for android as well as ios. I am going to try artrage on my android tablet I'm getting for Christmas. Thanks for the comment and watching along.
@@weebobart Artrage is good (and on desktop and tablet), they've all got their pro's and con's. I use Rebelle, Painter, Artrage, Artstudio, Krita, Affinity Designer (and PSD of course) on the desktop and Affinity Designer, Artrage, Artstudio, Fresco and Artset on tablet....It's a LOT to keep up with but each has it's unique pro's.....photoshop layers are a godsend just to bring the best of them all together for the final composite.
Lots of mention of metallics but no one has yet covered how those metallics transform to print.
Yeah printing metallic will not be anywhere near as good as actual gold leaf etc. If you want the real deal you would need to add it post print. It is still giving some beautiful digital metals. 😍 note metallics are pro version only. Anyway thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the overview. It's been a few years since last I did any digital painting using natural media emulations, though I have been using Corel Painter on and off since around 2001. While I like many aspects of Painter, I have noticed that most versions add too much stuff I don't need or want (I am still on Painter 12), whereas Rebelle seems to keep adding things I know I'd have loved to use. At the moment, I am not doing any digital painting, focusing instead on vector graphics, but whenever next I feel like it, I think I'd prefer using Rebelle over Painter. I did try Rebelle a few years ago when it was basically just a watercolour painting program, and even then, with far fewer features than now, the flowing watercolour effects were amazing and in itself reason enough to choose that.
I have tried a Corel Painter on the demo but I found it pretty confusing. I recently downloaded a free version of a program called realistic, which is nice. Rebelle is my go to software now, I have bought an android tablet for Christmas so will be trying sketchbook and maybe ArtRage once I get my hands on it. The features they have added have been pretty big Rebelle 6 was the introduction of warping tools, and this version is structures and metallic paints. Anyway if you do head back to digital painting, all the best. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@weebobart Exactly. When they add features to Painter, the interface becomes more cluttered and confusing, and also sometimes less processor-efficient. My favourite version of Painter is possibly still the very first light version that was included with the entry-level Wacom graphics tablet I got in 2001. The main reason I upgraded both Painter and my tablet along the way is I also wanted tilt functionality for spray paint effects, which I don't think the older pared-down version had, and the graphics tablet certainly didn't have it.
At the moment, I think Rebelle ticks more of the right boxes.

I would keep it on your computer if you have space. It means you can go look at your library folder for any brushes you have created etc. It may then be easier to copy across any papers you have bought. All the best once you get it and thanks for watching and commenting.

I remember preorders opened around 3PM GMT, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the time today when Rebelle 7 will be available for download.
I turned on the diamond icon for metallic layer and chose an oil brush, but it doesn't seem to work for me...any Idea how to solve it? I'm very new to rebelle
Try the metallic oil brushes then check visual settings. T urn on nanopixel will help but there are metallic settings in the visual settings as well.
Some great potential but really buggy in its current release form (which feels like the software is in a permanent beta) with many older bugs still not addressed, great potential but still really frustrating too.
Yeah I was quite surprised by the release of 7 and thought they might delay it but they need to pay their wages so I'm guessing that was the driver for pushing the release before Christmas. Hopefully they get the bugs resolved soon. It does seem to be very machine specific on some bugs. Anyway thanks for watching and commenting.
I have the Metallic Palette in my Rebelle 7 but when I add a new layer there is no diamond icon showing...I'm VERY new to this program so I'm no doubt overlooking something or my version doesn't have this option?

Turns out I didn't...when Rebelle told me my software was ready to download they said it was Rebelle Pro...I questioned them b/c I'd not paid for that version...they apologised for using the wrong wording in the alert email, so all is good. @@weebobart
Has the photoshop plugin any new features or improvements?
I am not aware of any improvements to photoshop plugin but best to keep an eye on escapemotions website. Thanks for watching though and all the best with your digital art.
