I have one observation: I was interested in the pianist's interpretation of Donner's lowering his hammer for the thunder and lightning strike that is followed by a rainbow upon which the God's make their entrance into Valhalla. It seems as if the blow was absent from the piano score. I have noticed that a piano score does not always capture the essence of a composition, and that it can be improved to make it reflect the orchestral characteristics.
You do one of the best jobs on heart. I'd do your page turner for free.

Many thanks, incredibly interesting! Which transcription for piano do you use? Is it imposed on you or do you pick whichever you prefer? Wagner must be tricky.
We are using the very new Schott edition. It was imposed, the whole production team is using this. I would personally pick an older on ( Peters or the old Schott), they are easier to read.

is there something during your many years of playing that you think made the biggest difference in improving sight reading? Especially with complex stuff like operas or orchestral scores?
Only experience.... doing, doing, doing.. the brain needs repeats, different stuff to learn. Sight reading needs regular practice...and concentration!! It might sound strange, but my sight reading skills are much better, when I slept well and ate well the day. And did some body exercise.
it doesn't sound strange to me at all. In my experience, my playing improves when i'm well rested and have eaten well. It makes all the difference as far as having a productive practice session. I hope to be able to sight read like that some day though. Your videos are an absolute treasure , thank you!
Thank you very much! Just to be correct - in this video here it's not prima vista! I already rehearsed the opera in staging and musical rehearsals, and this was the "piano dress" run through. @@Rubeniro
