I'm not even here to complain about how he plays the game.
But he sure does skip that text fast.
The conspiracy theorist in me tells me that he's only skipping lore because the viewers will get curious & buy the game, so he's deliberately trying to do the developers a favor. Because I seriously don't understand why would anyone want to skip a couple of lines of funny dialogue. (But nah, NL just hates "losing seconds" on lore. He's the Robot.)

I actually randomly skipped to this video to see how well he's gotten as my first video and I'm immediatley turned off of him playing this game. He sucks.

He was doing nothing but mistakes after floor 3. He upgraded Shovel instead of getting an item that returns a dice on use.

@@ninjapenguin2220 Entertainment for himself and the viewers. Imagine if every time he was confident that he won he just exited the game and just talked for 10 minutes. That's what you want.
@@150booyadragon No, you guys just like criticizing people so you feel good about yourselves. 70% of his entertainment for himself and his viewers IS his banter, so he gets to focus on that on the easier episodes. He'll at least try harder on the more challenging ones and if he loses or struggles and wins, THEN constructive criticism is worth a youtube comment. This episode requires little effort to succeed, so that's what he did.
Someday he will try things different, and maybe will see upgraded boomerang :O

so you can do 6x2, 12 damage, and do 3 to yourself. with his obsession over spiked shield, the worst card in the game, he could at least use three shield up for 12 damage on one card.
@@g80gzt I'd argue Peashooter is worse than Spiked Shield, but he does seem too fond of it...

G80 GZT I’m glad I’m not the only one that sees that attack as low tier. Low damage and meh shield. I get that it’s versatile.. but the options aren’t great.

I want the game to get harder soon so that it actually matters when NL misplays.
Most episodes 2-3 are on par with 1. Maybe he'll fail a couple of times, but he should beat most of them at first try, with the exception of maybe the witch. Now, episodes 4-6 are the real deal, but I'm not confident that NL won't get bored of the series by then.
I love that Madison the thinmint queen only becomes stronger when frozen.
Someone explained to me (last vid) that equipment/spells/cards that damage YOU help you get to your limit break faster. Boomerang might've actually been an upgrade (especially if you actually upgrade it... doesn't it damage you less?).
I believe the upgraded boomerang only does 3 damage on use regardless of what you roll, so it's significantly better.
upgrade on it makes it do 3 instead of X
Upgraded it does 3 to you. So Upgraded Boomerang + Fury gives you 24 damage to an enemy while you take 6. For a single dice. Every time I can get boomerang I take it, because I'm willing to take the damage to knock off half my enemy's HP in a single blow.

omg i had such a good run in this episode i had an upgraded bump and spatula so i bumbed 6s to 1s spatulad them and had an army of 6s with which to murder things with.
This episode was pretty good, very nice to watch.
If only NL didn't destroy sword early and bought Juggling ball with a double upgrade available. But it's alright.
HYPE for Door 3 on every character!
The warrior version of the joker is straightforward, sure, but not as fun to watch as the snappy combo breaker style of default joker imo

Nl upgraded boomerang is actually viable, yeah you do damage but you can easily use it as a finishing blow.

To the people who actually play this game, am I wrong in thinking that basically any equipment that takes any dice and deals the full damage of that dice (like sword) is essentially always pretty good? I feel like most of the runs where I see NL do super well it's just because he's throwing out a ton of damage really consistently. And that seems like what equipment like sword are great for.
Cherryflavoredgrape It depends. Status effects can be extremely useful and equipment to improve your rolls can be essential. This only went well, for example, because he was able to reroll and bump up to better numbers. If you’re only getting low rolls, sword is extremely weak, whereas some things only work if your roll is low. But I’ve always been partial to damage over time in games I play.
Something about playing the Jester just turns off NL's brain. He made so many bad decisions for no reason.

Self damage is unappealing as a rule, even if you get full health every so many battles.
@@yewwowduck Yeah but if you kill your opponents faster they damage you less. It's like magic, "life as a resource". You can just swing by at least in the earlier episodes being agressive.
@@gasparzamorano2357 But in magic you are fighting only one opponent. Against a boss, boomerang is great. A dungeon crawl? Ehhh a little spicier.
@@sokirosokiro4215 even still, in this game enemies can deal a lot of damage in a single turn. A 6 on boomerang will often lead to lethal a turn earlier than normal, and in a game where most the time enemies deal a minimum of 5 damage a turn as a general rule, that is a very big deal. And the upgraded boomerang dealing only 3 return damage? Magnifique!
in slay the spire, self damaging builds are not great in my exp. So it may be a carry over from that.
So confuse... Didn't take the freeze nor stun, didn't take juggling ball while your deck need high roll and it help you reroll low roll... Didn't do the finish blow with dice and miscount the poison.... Oh man I watch it to fall asleep but it make me wild awake from depression

I was gonna post all the F A K E L O R E up until this point, but when you replay episodes there's different dialogue (or at least not the original, story-building dialogue) each time, it seems ;-; Damn shame.
Info for lore nerds like me: You get story 3 times per character: before episode 1 (introduction), before episode 2, and after you complete 4 episodes. The character quotes/descriptions also change each time, which is pretty cool. You get more story when you spin the wheel for the first few times + when baby squid spins + when lady luck spins for the first few times. And finally, there's the "spoiler door" after you beat episode 6 on all 6 characters.
