      @@burgunbeerdSliced or Slicing is used in Kotor 1-2 and is one of the main skills you can use. The MC if you spec into it and droid companions can slice consoles and doors. So it is hacking and only used in games, SWOTOR also mentions slicing however it isn't a skill used like the single player game.

    So, everyone makes the joke about Jedi kidnapping children. But is there anything in canon that supports this? I haven’t read all the books and comics, but I always assumed kids went with the Jedi with their parents blessing.
    I mean it’s repeatedly established that training is a requirement to be dangerous. So if parent say no, what’s the harm? But, like Anakin, I thought most people would want their kids to go and live a better life. Am I incorrect in this?

    • @leonport1181
      @leonport1181 Před měsícem +3

      I believe in clone wars it's stated (or atleast implied) that the jedi get the parents/guardians permission. I know their was an episode where I believe doku hired some bounty hunters to get a list of recorded force sensitives baby's so they can trick the parents into giving them to the separatists, but I can't fully remember all the details but I'm pretty sure the parents knew the kids were told their kids could be jedi, weather the jedi gave them a few years to think it over or accept the inevitably is something I'm iffy on.

    • @genchebanu
      @genchebanu Před měsícem

      As far as I know it was never stated and to be fair its totally dumb. In a galaxy with hundreds of trillions of inhabitants it would be totally impossible for Jedi even to test all kids if they are Force-sensitive. Majority of younglings would actually come from planets and families with ties to the order (old favors, veneration of Jedi, etc.). Rest would com from chance encounters during missions, like in case with Anakin.
      In EU there was an author who believed Jedi to be evil. She called them fascists (non-ironically) and tried to introduce idea of Jedi kidnapping kids. Her name was Karen Traviss and fandom hated her

      @@burgunbeerd There's a better show than this and it came out in 2019 on Fox. It's called The Passage and it's about a vampire girl who is the key to solving an illness. The Agent who was supposed to bring her in is like Sol's character and quite affectionate so he tries to help her and dooms his ENTIRE team in the process. The girl is also being invaded (through her mind) by a The Stranger/ Qimir type who is eager to turn her to the dark side. Please review it, side by side with The Acolyte, it's sooooooooo much better and the chemistry between the 12 years old girl and the Agent is beautiful and ends tragically.

    I saw the trans comparison immediately. Yeah. Sol calls Trinity master, so Im not sure if he and the Wookie are masters at that point, but she basically kills the most powerful Jedi first, then the least powerful, then she goes for the Wookie. I guess she was saving Sol who actually killed her mother for last, but then why doesnt she kill him earlier on the forest planet since we know she saw him kill their mother with her own eyes?

  • @burgunbeerd

      Disney seems to copy existing shows and movies but thinks we don't notice. The Acolyte seems like a mesh of The Passage 2019 and Wish 2022. WISH seems like it was tweaked from Twitches movie - starring Tia and Tamera who are twin magical Princesses who have to defeat their evil uncle the King Thantos. I think they realized this and Asha being a princess, King Magnifico would've been her uncle so they made her a civilian. The Passage has the father daughter dynamic between mentor and child and it was done better in that series than between Sol and Osha.

      When you pick terrible writers and a complete idiot for a director... you get this. It also goes to the oversight on the script BEFORE you even shoot or approve this garbage. Who would let this sophomoric tripe to even get past that level?? Surface nonsense with no depth that falls apart and contradicts itself at every turn. Exposition that never ends. BORING. Poor pacing and poor editing. You could find about 30 things wrong in each episode that doesnt even cover the basics. 180 million. I wonder WHERE the money actually went. It wasn't in FX work. The speeder bike scenes... I could do those better on my home system.

    I thought they were going for the differing POV perspectives. The lazy, mystery box writing of the "unreliable narrators" which answers nothing itself and just leaves interpretations down to the audience. It's even worse than that as they decided to make the Jedi POV the "true narrative" perspective and yet tell us absolutely nothing we didn't already know. At least anything of consequence. EVERYTHING in two whole flashback episodes could have been done in one minute of intelligent character exposition. My God! The incompetence level on display is shocking.
