Just A FYI. I just got off the phone with a service dept. They said that the Tender junior 800 will know what type of battery its connected to. No need to change the lead acid or lithium
I just bought a junior 800 today. It had the lead acid/lithium button. Mine also came with the alligator clamps as well as the battery terminal plug wire.
It sounds like most people's problems stem from not reading the manual. Also, be sure you check the water levels before get too carried away. If you are going to keep it plugged in all winter or any length of time, be sure to check the water level, the specific gravity and clean the sucker. I haven't had any problem with these at all and I've got a half dozen.
I have the original battery tender. kept it on my 04 mach1. kid you not, the battery lasted me ten years. I always keep it on as the car is only used on the weekends.
I just bought this thank you I have a mobility scooter and use 12v 18ah lifepo batteries . I couldn’t find a charger so i went to Autozone . Your video was helpful to me. I will probbly buy another so I can speed up the process .
Hey man! I just bought the 800 for my 88 Suzuki VS750GL Intruder... How long does it take to charge a battery from almost no power? I have enough juice to hear the starter but it won’t turn over. Didn’t use the charger yet. I have the pigtail hooked up to the battery already.
It’s nice but mines been blinking yellow and I’ve moved it different ways and still blinking I’m pretty sure mine had broke for leaving in a container so I think I’m gonna need to buy a new one
Are you sure you have it hooked up right? Every time I think the device is the issue it turns out I have it hooked up wrong. If you have connector in between, remove it and connect directly to the battery. Make sure +/+ and -/- ...
At 1:58 when you plug it in the 3 green LEDs come on for a few seconds and then it starts to work. Mine does the same but when it goes to orange it charges for about 30 seconds and all LEDs come back on green and it does nothing. I have no idea what is wrong. Any ideas? P.s I know it's a long shot.

Mine failed less than two years into the five year warranty (purchased 11/27/2020). Autozone would not refund or exchange so I’m stuck with dealing with the manufacturer. Naturally it just failed on Labor Day holiday weekend so the manufacturer is closed until Tuesday. Emailed customer service so we’ll see. A number of repair videos exist which show the capacitors used by Battery Tender are garbage and you would think the manufacturer would have upgraded the part by now. My recommendation is do not buy and put yourself through the ringer.
So glad I saw this video BEFORE making a pointless purchase. *I live in an apartment complex.* The idiots I took my dead car to, who I had already told I where I live, actually thought I would be able to use this thing. So frustrating - it's just a power controller you have to plug into a wall to even use. I wasn't sure how it was supposed to work otherwise, but I imagined that it was some sort of device that would turn the car engine on and run it for about 10 minutes every couple of weeks, like what everyone says you're supposed to do manually. Of course, that would be begging for a vehicle to get stolen, I suppose, but whatever. Point is, no one who knew where I live explained that it was some odd thing that has to be plugged in, lol, so wow, thank you for posting this video! I saw within 2 seconds that this just simply won't work in my circumstance. I hate this pandemic for a lot of reasons, but this is just another one. When you live in an apartment complex, you're high risk for Covid, the vaccines only sort of work for you, and your idiot neighbors just run around the whole time, no masks, obviously no vaccines, coughing and hacking up a storm in the hall, sicking their dogs on you just because they feel like it, and generally making your home's location into a total slum-ghetto, it's not safe to go out in the hall even just to take out the trash. You want to do something at all? You have to do it when they're asleep - when there's no good lighting to mess around with your car battery, when idiots drag race and bullets fly, because again, your part of town is slum-ghetto, so you can't even actually drive it anywhere, so you're stuck sitting in the dark in your running car at like 2 a.m. or whatever... Anyway, getting out to my car just to turn the engine on for 10 minutes every couple of weeks is unrealistic, and it's not like there are plugs in each parking space in a place where most everyone's drunk, high, and crazy - and the management pretends like it's just the greatest place on Earth, already, no updates or upgrades needed. But hey, that's what happens when you're poor, when it's hard to find a decent job with a decent salary, and then some idiot disease comes along that falsely-imprisons you in your own home for 2 1/2 years and counting. Would be awesome if my neighbors all learned their lessons, got bad cases of Covid that took a couple months to clear up, and finally realized that they should care enough about others in the first place to at least take care of themselves. I wouldn't wish them to die, but a really good illness they could have prevented? Yeah, at this point, that would be epic. Twiddle-dumbs are Republicans, so of course they don't care about anyone at all, not even themselves, and certainly not anyone else.

I believe this model will automatically detect the battery type. But it’s not like to explode either way.

Yes, you can leave it on. You can just plug it in, and forget about it until you need to use whatever your equipment is.
Yes, it is a battery TENDER after all. Not really a charger. It charges slowly, but maintains that charge for a long period of time.

Gel is a different chemistry from acid or lithium, the 800 isn't rated for it.
