I’m about 40% through so far and loving it. My favorite game ever is Hollow Knight and I always thought it would be cool to have a game where the White Palace was a dominant feature rather than a side area. I hope I can finish it because the difficulty on some of the optional stuff is already getting pretty intense. It’s unfortunate that the game has sold poorly. Maybe it’s too difficult, but other hard games like Celeste and Cuphead have done really well.
@@benjaminh1034 Have you played metroid? How would you compare the difficulty on this game to metroid dread for example? I'm really loving what I'm seeing but I want to know if it'll be too much for me.
Punishing is right! The platforming can be downright brutal and the graphics seem to blend into the background too easily in some areas. It took me forever and a day to beat the sword boss, and now I'm stuck on Mastermind. My mildly dyslexic ass is leaving the Enigma area for last. But fun? Yes!
This game is a triumph, I play literally every Metroidvania and this is top 3 of all time I would actually say best game of 2021

It's good to see awesome classic-style Metroidvania games are still being made. If I was that type of gamer, I would be sold on it after watching this.

@@BigRetroShow I think I would love it in a pre-3D games era. I've legit played very few 2D games ever. It's overall just an issue of preference.

I recently played and finished Aeterna Noctis... it's one of my all time fave Metroidvania's.. it's challenging and rewarding. Nice 2D graphics.. fun gameplay... good music. It's a must play for MV fans, but at the same time it won't be for every MV fan because of it's challenge.

Easily i can say it is the best game i played in 2021 . Anf it is one of the best metroidvanias i played ( specially for people love the platform like in the enf is nigh or meat boy ) this game is heaven 😅 . Thanks for the video

It's definitely a great game.
If you found it punishing in the easy mode immagine for me who played it in the original difficulty (they added the easy mode because of rightful complaint), it was probably the most difficult game I ever played but the sadisfaction you get from defeating such challenges is immense, still some more balancing would have been nice, certain builds are useless and some are way to op and the last 3 bosses are almost unfair if you dont use the broken build.
I'm about 25 hours in and OMG is this game awsome. The level design is superb, the leveling up is great and map is HUGE. I wish it had more boss fights so far but I'm sure they're coming. If your on the fence about this, do yourself a favor and get it. Second best metroidvania only to Hollow Knight.

Aeterna Noctis is the best Metroidvania out there. I can't think of anything else that a fan of the genre could ask for. It's a complete game.
So hold on, I don't see anyone mentioning this, but this game apparently is in the same universe as ONE PUNCH MAN. The old librarian straight up talks about him. Are we just ignoring this?!

too hard and too big this is the resume of this game for me, I stopped on the boss mastermind after two hours of try, no more for me and my god the 10 seconds loading time every time you change room on the switch killing me and not enough travel trones also on the map

95% this is a paid review. To be honest I don't see a problem with that considering this game got absolutely brushed aside when I think it should have got more attention than it did but see Jim Sterling's "completely objective review" and compare it to this. Maybe it's just this guy's review style but this is possibly the most bland and basic overview of general objective facts about a game I've ever seen. Early on, in a sea of Wikipedia sentences we get "the controls are tight tho" which they absolutely are not. You may of may not adjust but to say this game has tight controls is clearly speaking to people who haven't played it and is meant to get out in front of the #1 criticism. You should try this game but maybe watch cannot be tamed's review instead.

@@BigRetroShow as if I would know how it controls if I hadn't played it. I'm playing it right now, just finished the forge area, the controls are bad in comparison to its contemporaries. You can get used to them but if you're gonna make a 50+ hour metroidvania inspired in its entirety by Hollow knights path of pain, the controls need to be on par with Celeste and Hollow Knight and they're nothing of the sort here. I'm enjoying the game, I wouldn't still be playing it if I wasn't, this is like the textbook definition of my perfect game on paper but controls need to be better with this level of platforming difficulty. Also just heard in your review you're playing on "normal", which is actually easy, and that's OK I'm glad you enjoyed the game and that they added the new difficulty so more people can progress but originally the only difficulty was the "hard" mode, noctis and there are sections in that mode that are absolutely absurd and the cracks begin to show in the controls a lot more than they do in aeterna mode I'm guessing. The jump cooldown especially is bullshit and I've died several times because I landed on a platform and tried to jump before the internal cooldown was finished and end up falling to my death. It's a good game, a great game in some ways but I'd much rather they shave off about 10-15 hours of that run time and refine the controls to where they should be for a game like this.
