I've got the 2.0 CDTI Elite model on an 11 plate. It has built in satnav, full leather heated seats, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, air-conditioning ,folding mirrors, auto tint rear view mirror and electronic parking brake. 165hp and dark metallic blue, they are a really good car, comfortable and economical. Round here (East Midlands )a cambelt replacement will set you back about £450-£500!
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes The old guy who bought my car from new had every extra except Bluetooth phone connectivity, but that doesn't bother me. The xenon adaptive headlights with curve control is one of the best features, along with daytime running lights.
My sister had one, I was impressed by the quality of this generation Astra, especially the interior, cut above similar aged Fords. £2k, 160bhp and 55mpg, has to be one of best value cars around.
I recently got rid of one of these for a company car, bit gutted really but it is what it is. Mine was the top spec elite model, had absolutely everything, such a comfortable, practical and pleasant car to drive.

Nice looking car. Im a fairly new driver - getting my first car in June 2020 (58 plate Corsa). Could pick up something like this in the future, btw I love your reviews!
I've just downgraded to one of these from a 66 plate merc c220d and can actually say it's quite fun to drive compared to the big saloon. 5hp less and u don't feel the turbo as much but Im happy with it for now canny nippy..
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes I'm finding the fuel consumption absolutely terrible for a diesel my tracking is slightly out but surely that won't cause much mpg issues. I've had a 300bhp cupra what's better on fuel than this..
@@danh2310 I doubt the tracking would lose you 20mpg, could be a number of things, from wrong oil, to glow plugs, poor compression, dodgy or dirty injectors, maybe run some fuel cleaner through the system to begin with, and get the tracking sorted, should cost more than £40 to do both those things, then check the mpg again, if no improvements, then maybe get it scanned for any obvious faults, most garages will do this for around £50 :)
I was looking at getting one of these when my last car got written off but ended up getting a 2010 Octavia. There was only 2~ Astra's in my price range and they had issues like a blown head gasket and another had body damage

Looks a cracking car, I’d say for what you spent on it aswell, that’s a brilliant price! Great review! I’ve just one question, why does it say 1.7 on the back if it’s a 2 litre?
Must be the 10th time someone asked that question now lol, it's simply because I replaced the tailgate, and made this video before noticing I hadn't changed the badges, the replcement tailgate was from a 1.7 :)
You've got the pre facelift rear bumper on a facelift car hence the mounts being different at the bottom, it should have the chrome strip. They changed over that year. Also the cam belt on these needs doing every 6 years...
Thanks for that David, It was the only bumper I could find after weeks of searching, and although not perfect, it did the job. Are you 100% on the cambelt change intervals? when I checked on-line it did say 100k or 10 Years for this Years and engine? the bet has been changed now anyway, but always good to know the intervals for the belts. Thanks for your comment :)
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes yeah recently bought one of these and checked with the main dealer as managed to get the change included with the sale - 6 years or 60k. I think it's due to the water pumps rather than the belt. It is after all based on the earlier 1.9 which used to burn pumps after 40k!
It's amazing value for money if all you do is go up & down the motorway but in London & other major cities it is not ulez exempt which is a massive shame.
Hi guys i hope you guys doing wel, I'm new to salvage auctions etc, Where do you people buy your salvage cars from and how much did ya buy your recent vehicle for?
It depends where in the UK you are really, my closest salvage yard is through Synetiq, but my closest Copart yard is 120 Miles away, so I try to buy local if possible to save on delivery costs. If you look on either Copart or Synetiq websites you will find your closest yard. But there can also be salvage yards who do not advertise through these sites, so worth doing a Google search for local salvage yards too. Good luck :)
