  • In 2021 we bought a mountain lot with a ton of rocks on a slope to set up a geodome glamping site. This has made our job long, slow, and takes a lot of creativity with our DIY projects.
The biggest problem-- accessibility. That's why we are building wooden walkways (or boardwalks) and stairs to help us safely access the lot with a beautiful aesthetic.
So let's DIY some wooden walkways and stairs.
    Enjoy!

Beautiful! I’d like if you can post another video on how the stairs and railings built as well. Thanks for this video.

I don't know if I have enough footage recorded for that. I got in the building zone and didn't hit record very often. 😅

Why didn't you back the truck into the driveway and unload your timber from the tailgate? Would have saved you a lot of effort and time. Otherwise, nice job.

Hahah! That would have been way too logical! 😂

Great descriptions and pics! Thanks for sharing. What is the (average) dimension of one box?

    1. are there any Codes you were to follow when building the glamping pathway?
    2. I dont see any railings on the sides - a guest might fall down if the path is slippery. Isnt it required by Code OR by Insurance (if you buy one)
    3. Is it mandatory for pathways to be wheelchair-accessible? If so, does it influence the width?
Thanks for answers in advance. Thinking to build the same pathways on a site in a desert.

Hey there! Great questions. Landscaping stairs follow different codes. On our permitted deck, we have guardrails as those are above 30" off the ground in some areas. It's certainly good to have handrails on anything higher than 30" off the ground.
I would check with your local county to find out rules in your area. ☺️

@@UnsophisticatedDIY yeah i found a piece of land in desert but with a hill slope part (which is cool since geodomes/tents will overlook the whole valley) so i thought if its safe to build paths like yours with no rails. Even though the slope isnt too critical, still scary :)
