Lightning Bolt - 50th anniversary commemorative surfboard by Juan Diego - Balsa Liner

To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we invited Juan Diego - one of our official shapers from Costa Rica - to create a surfboard representative of our brand’s history and energy.

Lightning Bolt boards are some of the most beautiful surf boards I’ve ever seen, the ascetics are on another level. They’re so simple yet, so beautiful and elegant. My mother and father used to live in Hawaii for almost 20 years before I was born, they moved back to Texas right before I was born. My father RIP Dad, would ALWAYS tell me stories of Mr. Pipeline and how amazing of a surfer he was, he would always tell me stories of the Varsity surfing pipeline. He taught me to surf when I was 6 years old, and at 33 I’ve never stopped. Hopefully one day I can make it to the island and surf his old spots and experience the magic of Hawaii. I’m sure it gets old with all the mainland kooks coming out there and crowding the spots, I’ll try not to be an annoyance. Thanks again for making these awesome boards and continuing the legacy. I’m going to be getting a Lightning Bolt hopefully in 2023. If an order comes in for Texas it’s probably me. Thanks again. Aloha 🤙🏻
