AliExpress Dimebag guitar- fantastic guitar!

- This guitar has a bit of a story. Obviously, I was into Pantera, it wasn’t until I moved out of home and one of my housemates, who is an absolute monster on the guitar showed me his custom Dime. It was and probably still is the best guitar I’ve played. We jammed and melted faces and traded licks. I eventually moved out and he sold it. It disappeared for nearly 20 years. I happened to be scrolling Gumtree and I saw it! I mentioned it to my mate and he ended up buying it back. It was such a great guitar I wanted one, just like it, but couldn’t afford the ‘custom’ price. So, I found ‘Guitar Store’ on AliExpress and the guy said that they could make it.
It took 4 months for me to receive it. There was a lot of communication and back and forth. In the end, I received it and was totally happy with the result. I knew however, that the hardware was rubbish so I had a tech install and Gotoh 1996 bridge, Gotoh tuners, a Dimebucker, a Seymour ‘59 and replaced the tone knob for a kill switch.
For the price, this guitar rocks.

I would agree with that. But I’d also include a good set of pickups too. The feeling of pushing air with a good amp and cab is fantastic.

@@jayteesgear I have Neural QC and although it’s sounds amazing, there is some truth to the feeling of a valve amp’s resonance.
Its about magnetics. Meaning pickups and speakers. (Or IR’s if you’re a child)

What a sick Dimebag guitar replica. It's good that, for the time being, there are options out there to get something custom like this without spending like thousands on an old Washburn.
Do you know if the seller can do custom coloured bolt patterns?
The person I dealt with was open to pretty much anything. I’m sure if you told him your idea, he’d be willing to help you out.

Go for it mate. Look, we love the shape. We love Dime. They are a budget guitar and have some dodgy qualities. But once the bad parts have been tended to, it’s a pretty good guitar.
Just be sure to be clear about what you want when dealing with them. The translation apps can be difficult. Don’t use any slang language, always use correct words, otherwise he won’t understand you. Eg ‘The guitar looks sick’; he will wonder why you think the guitar is ‘ill’. Good luck. You’ll need to replace the tuners, pickups and bridge. Then look at changing the nut, volume and tone pots, toggle switch and the input jack… basically ALL of the hardware.

Got myself a Washburn Slime some months ago, supposed to arrive this month. Good to know what I would need to be doing when swapping the bridge, since I feel like thats the main thing I will be changing. Probably will use that floyd like hell lol

@@MT_800 if we could afford the real deal, that’d be awesome. But many can’t. Plus, when there’s a company that is willing to do (essentially) customer copies, they’re going to attract customers.

I have a similar guitar from China. I changed the top lock and floydrose to gotoh. Please tell me, are the pickups very different from the original?

@@gugzy I used to play it all the time cause it was the only guitar I had at the time but I eventually got more guitars so now it sits in its case. There's videos of me playing it on my CZcams channel.

Incredibly, I didn’t! I just asked to swap the yellow and green to blue and black. It wasn’t a problem.
Red/black would look excellent. 👍
My next video will cover some issues to be aware of. Then you can ask them to remedy those issues and ensure that yours don’t have them BEFORE you order.
Can someone tell me about stainless steel frets and why they may be preferred (as in this video)? I am thinking about purchasing a Dime guitar and thinking whether I should ask for different frets or not? Thanks
Stainless frets are essentially more resistant to wearing…. Longevity.
Just be mindful that there’s an extra charge for them.

Hi, I recall it taking a few days to receive a reply. In China, they also have different celebrations so you may have sent your specs through during that time. But I think the main reason is that they’re getting smashed with orders. I think I got mine just before this Facebook page really started advertising GuitarStore, so communication was quite frequent. So, it’s highly likely that they’re swamped. Just send a friendly reminder. 👌👌

@@Was-WG yeah mate, I requested that the neck be like an Ibanez neck (wizard). So it’s a fairly shallow D shape. I’ll be doing another video when I come back from holidays to demonstrate the tremolo. But it’s been pretty great of so far as I put it through its paces whilst jamming. Stay tuned. 👌

It took forever, mate. From the time they said it was sent, it took about 6 weeks and then another 2-3 weeks to get through customs.

I certainly think so. I got this guitar for the shape only. I knew that I’d be replacing everything on it. Would I do it again? Absolutely.

There’s no link to the exact guitar that’s in this video. I asked the Guitar store guy to do a different paint job, however this link is what I purchased (Dime Slime). I then asked them to modify it. Good luck.
