  • I received this new calculator yesterday and have spent most of yesterday and today translating the manual into English (was German). I have some strange ways of unwinding, but it's been legitimately relaxing.
    Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions about the machine or similar. I'll be happy to answer them.
    Sorry about being a little bit spaced out as well. I had an accident with some cleaner fluid earlier in the day. You'd think outdoors would fit the "make sure you are in a well-ventilated area" criteria, but you would be wrong.
    However I digress.

      That's good to hear! Thank you. =)

    I have the impression that Mercedes/Cellatron R44 is the fastest of all fully automatic calculators. Do you think that is a correct observation? Also, did you find it in working condition or did you have to invest some patience and ingenuity to get it going? And last, don't you find that it's somewhat noisier than it should be? Nice machine! Thanks for your detailed videos.

    Don't know how I missed this video. I do not know anything about calculators, but I remember my late grandpa having one of these big machines like in the video. I remember playing with it as a kid (good 15 years or more ago). Somehow looks the same as one I remember.

      That's pretty amazing. Did he ever use it for a business or did he also have it as a collector's item?
      Would be very cool if it was the same machine.

      @@1stSpyGuy I have no idea. I'm pretty sure it was leftover from the local old supermarket back in the day, but how he got into possession no idea. I will be sure to check it out, now I am curious as well :D

    Thanks for great introduction to Celleron. Is it possible to have your manual in english?

    • @1stSpyGuy
      @1stSpyGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      Sure. I'll just need to clean it up a bit. It's very much unpolished since it was only really meant for me to understand the machine.

    I also have this model, but unfortunately I'm missing the power cable. Could someone please tell me which one I need?

    You come up with some of the most beautiful and odd machines that I would like to find for my collection that I have never seen before! You also find nice ones in perfect cosmetic condition. Would you be willing to sell any one of these fantastic finds? Sincerely, Julian Burke

      Hello! I'm very happy you enjoy looking at the wonders I've managed to gather up.
      Unfortunately, I don't have any machines in a working state that I would be willing to part with. Mine is a small collection, but every piece has its place.

      @@1stSpyGuy I still like them even if they don't work properly if they still look nice for display.

      @@julianburke1738 I don't really have a complete inventory of them any more, but off the top of my head I have a Friden STW-10, a Facit ESA-0 and a Hamann Elma laying around that I could part with. They're in storage and I could concievably get them upstairs for photos, if you're interested in any of those machines.
      The Contex-30 is also for sale. It "sort of" works, but due to the design is going to have calculating flaws.
      Not all of them have featured in videos, on account of them not working.

      In fact, I still have such a machine to sell. I know your comment is old, but if you are still interested, please feel free to contact me.

    Most machines only subtract while dividing, this one counts in both directions. WTF?

    •  Před 6 lety +2

      Алексей Рукин cellatron and mercedes euklid use oscillating division. diehl also. hamann manus also :) Note that the overdraft is not restored like on madas.

    There’s no zeros?

    • @1stSpyGuy
      @1stSpyGuy  Před 4 lety +1

      A zero is represented by no button being depressed in a column.

    • @dancingvirgil
      @dancingvirgil Před 4 lety

      That would drive me mad. I would just have to put in those zeros or die!

    • @someonespadre
      @someonespadre Před rokem

      Zero is usually a column clear button on these machines. There’s no need for zero because it doesn’t do anything. Something like 2008 is entered as 2 _ _ 8, _ = a blank column.
