As a non Essendon supporter I believe this is the best qtr of footy ever played by anyone ever. I always believed JH was over rated until I watched this game live on TV that day. Mad respect

As 4 this particular game against quality opposition, no 5 James Hird was just Sensational. He was everywhere & in everything. And goals galore.

Best Player 2 ever Pull On the Red & Black Jumper . Gr8 Coach who's Treatment by the Media , AFL , especially Mike Fitzpatrick & Gillion McLaughlin ect was Trial by Media & some heads should Roll over that . Nothing was ever Proved 2 be out of Order except the Paper Work .

Robert4169 It was also a week he was ripped apart in the media for making comments about the standard of umpiring - To come from such lows, and under intense pressure and scrutiny, to play a quarter like that one, in a game like that one, and to seal it with a brilliant goal (not to mention the historic moment of hugging the fan) I'd say it's fair to say it's a pretty special match.
