I remember visiting my Grandfather, when I was a child, in the old Sanatorium. He had TB and almost died. He was at the brink of death, and I remember my Grandmother telling him... He was in a comatose like state at the time. If you're going to die, just get on with it, because she couldn't keep coming up there if he was just going to wither away and die. That place gave me the creeps as a kid. Well don't you know my Grandad snapped back and lived another 10 years or so. My Mawmaw knew he was just cantankerous enough to snap back, if she sassed him a bit.

Went there one year for a Christmas light show(didn't enter the building, my family and I were outside) and when we were leaving, our car radio wouldn't work. No matter how many times my dad restarted the car, the radio was still all static. When we got home, we restarted the car and the radio was perfectly fine. At the Christmas light show we were also talking to this other family about the hauntings. Not necessarily the most solid paranormal experience, but I think about it till this day.

Theres not much left theres the main hospital a couple small.building on the back I assume where for utilities of some.sort there is a smaller 2 story building at the bottom of the hill by the rail.toad tracks only the front stone face remains but it's in similar architecture of the hospital front theres also stone foundation scatters throughout the wood at the base of the hill not sure what they were for mynparent land backs up to Waverlys property and we use to ride 4 wheelers up.there all the time as kids just exploring but it's hard to do.know since one person died from falling from.the bell.tower and another two guys were electrocuted from a low hanging power line in the surrounding woods security is pretty tight if you were to walk and be quiet you would be fine but they listen for quads and will roll up on you in a heartbeat

I have respect for the dead its not their fault they were put there these were people had a lives once but some thing in them snapped! These people were ripped apart and taken away from their families and put in a hospital that was closest to decent to hell as you can get! Nobody understood what really went on so many people died at Waverly Hills and I think their trapped and lost souls and tortured souls that were in pain! To call someone crazy well have you walked in these people shoes to know they are insane? What these people needed was love! They never got that they were just used up thrown away and burnt out! I think that these spirits are still in that hospital and have unfinished business! There was a story about a nurse who hung herself because she was so depressed over the conditions of the hospital she couldn't take it! On the 5th floor were patients that were damaged and they were harmful to other patients so many children died at Waverly! These people were damaged souls and they didn't even exist because society hated them and they were a threat! Most hospitals back i 1920s thought they were doing the right things when it fact it was the wrong things! May GOD have mercy on these lost souls I hope they are in a better place now!

These buildings are absolutely important to hold onto. They only built so many of these “Bat Wing” style sanatoriums across the United States.
Not everything about this building involved suffering, of course that happened. But many many people had lives there, worked there, made a living there. Doing what they thought was helping people.
Architecture like this is extremely important to keep, it tells a story of where the US came from and where the medical field came from.

I am sure it’s haunted but not more than KZ Auschwitz or any other concentration camp in Europe. Imagining the amount of deaths being an indicator of suffering spirits lingering in the property. I am very sensitive to this type environment and although curious couldn’t visit as I will definitely feel sick.

That building is not haunted! I went there a few months ago and didnt see a or hear a thing! Had a bunch of idiots singing ring around the rosie though which was entertaining.
