Queria ver a música que o "Maestro" Emílio estava cantando.

JFT, this is supposed to be a joyous, spontaneous and happy moment and instead it comes across like the Requiem. No one smiles, no one is happy, everyone is singing like the end an Anna Bolena. What a mistfire.

it is because they are scared of Maestro Mutti ;)

You're absolutely right. It's terribly complicated and they're scared of making a mistake and ruining it for everybody. In complete contrast see "Tutti gabbati Everyone is fooled". It's what is lacking here. Enjoy. And SMILE!
(A detail that everyone seems to miss is that Falstaff says "We'll finish with a chorus and then Ford says Then we'll DINE with Sir Falstaff")

@Harvey : non è affatto gioioso ma una constatazione delle debolezze umane su cui la vita stessa pone un rimedio tragicomico...se tu fossi Falstaff saresti felice alla fine dello scherzo?

@@patrizialauraf Tutti gabbati is really the key statement here. All of us are swindled by life - it generally holds quite little of what we imagine that it promises.

Scusate, mi sapreste dire chi è la cantante alla destra di Florez?

He really makes the score glow. It's a cynical piece. They're not happy at the end.

What do you mean?! Nanetta is overjoyed because she’s finally married to Fenton, Alice has not only managed to trick and teach Falstaff a lesson but has also put her overbearing husband back in his place. Quickly and Page are feminists who help rally the cause and by the end are happy to be on the winning team. By the end the women are incredibly happy, which is a very rare occurrence in opera.

What a stiff and dated production. Is this what all the critics of "modern" productions want to see?

It is true, in both those respects. But the singing, the quality of the orchestra, and overall musicality of the performance is superb.

This was made in 1992, I think. Not yesterday anyway.

It is a 2001 tribute to Toscanini performances in Busseto (Verdi hometown) made in the 20s. Same scenography and costumes. It is of course old fashioned.

That's just noise. One of the worst Verdi's operas. He was tired obviously.
