- Those mornings when the magic happens! Two days ago I sat in the dark waiting for the sunrise and listening to the gobblers on the roost over the swamp. By 8:30 I’d seen nothing and started to think I’d been duped; that’s when I gave a soft yelp, yelp, yelp and the big Tom hammered back with a thundering gobble. He and his entourage had come in behind me finally making there way out in front of the camera. I laid down 29 min of timecode before they moved off into the shadows.

The beauty of those feathers overlapping each other, like shingles with a dark strip on the outer edge.
I marvel at the bird's ability to raise up all its feathers, without so much as a thought, a natural reflex.
