Old Man Karen Doesn't Want Me In "His" Park | Confronts & Accuses Me

- An old man confronts and interrogates me in an accusatory tone because I visited our neighborhood park every day during my lunch breaks for awhile and he didn't like that. He proceeds to lie and fabricate a false story about how the police are "onto" me, how the neighbors supposedly have been "tracking" me, that this park is a "hotbed" for crime, etc, for which all of his claims were subsequently proven false. The man seemed paranoid and a bit crazy.
I called the police department and reported the incident and asked if anything the old man claimed was true. The officer I spoke to was very friendly and a very good listener. He told me that the old man had no business confronting me, debunked what the old man said, confirmed that he was lying and that if he continues to interrogate me, that I can file a harassment complaint. I felt no need to pursue harassment charges because this was nothing more than a slight nuisance to me. I was also told that the department has gotten other complaints about him over the years for similar behavior.
UPDATE: He never approached me or bothered me again, since the day the officer went to his residence and warned him to stop harassing people. After this video went viral in town, I got a phone call from the mayor one evening who told me that the old man was out of line and that this is not the kind of experience the city wants for its residents and wished me luck in not having another interaction like this with anyone again. I also started hearing from other citizens in our community that reported having been harassed by the same man and spoken to as if they were bad people.
Folks, ALWAYS have a camera ready to record every strange interaction you might have with a busybody. This is unfortunately the world we live in now, where people will confront others over absolutely nothing. And recording these interactions will help protect you from false accusations. Don't be shy about reporting such occurrences to your local law enforcement.

I just found out from someone who was neighbors with this old man, that he died in July of 2020, 4 and a 1/2 years after this video was posted. According to the person who knew him, he was beginning to suffer from dementia around the time this incident occurred. He was becoming grumpy, mildly confrontational and paranoid. That would certainly explain his strange behavior and odd reasons for confronting me. My wife and I noticed that about a year after this incident, we stopped seeing him in the neighborhood. Apparently, his dementia and cognitive decline became bad enough that he and his wife needed to be moved into a senior care facility, which explains why we suddenly stopped seeing him. Then 3 and a 1/2 years after that, he died from what his obituary said was a "lengthy illness", whatever that was. The lady neighbor that knew him, also told me that he was a retired architect.
this needs to be stopped we can't have people taking their lunchbreaks in parks alone its destroying America!!!

My neighbor caught him on her ring doorbell telling another neighbor that the HOA was going to come down HAAARRRD on him for putting up Halloween decorations. Blah, blah, blah. My friend took this video to the HOA president (we are all friends) and, since this was not true, the HOA serviced him with a warning about impersonating an HOA board member (he's a renter and not even allowed at meetings) and subject to a fine and eviction if he does anything like that again. This isn't the first time he has tried to stir up trouble. He tried to get neighbors to sign a petition he was going to take to court to show that I had 'ruined his good name' because I told someone he was a pervert. No one would sign it because they have heard him talk and agree he is a pervert. LOL I call him the village idiot because what everyone else calls him uses the 'f' word and I don't want him to have any further fodder to try to say I'm ruining his reputation. Hello Haley, thank you for your supportive comment! His "hat and symbols" remark was very strange. I literally have no stickers or signs on my car at all. The hat he referred to, was just a fishing hat that I had laying on my dashboard. The hat doesn't have any markings or logos on it either. So, I don't know what he was on about.
