Pronam to a Legend. Panditji was a phenomenal accompanist who never resorted to anything that distracted the audience from the mood of a Raga rather he always accentuated the build up of the mood. Pronam.
With deepest regret, I would like to say that I am shocked. Pundit Shankar Ghosh was a legend. He was the the Himalayas in the world of tabla. I am now a senior citizen. During my college days I saw him performing in different musical recitals in Calcutta with Vidushi Sisirkana Dhar Chowdhury, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pundit Chitresh Das ( dance) and so on. I seldom see the clarity of 'Bol' at that electrifying speed nowadays ...In Tabla Solo, he was the monarch. No words of exultation are enough to express my feelings. I never see a tabla player of late to play a Kaida with 10 / 12 paltas distinctly.He was an emperor But, this film couldn't do justice to this great maestro. The maker didn't do enough homework to depict this legendary creator. It's not my criticism, it's my observations. I am utterly frustrated.
