    It's far better than an entry level gaming PC even now, three years later if you set it up right. These xeons overclock to over 4 ghz if you get a decent bin chip (You need the V2 z620 to do that though). The CPUs are so cheap now, you can just buy a few if you need to find a nice bin chip. The power supply is also massive with 6 pin GPU leads that are capable of 8 pin power. Tons of internal drive bays and PCIE slots. It has QUAD channel RAM (which is ECC, making your computer more stable) and dual CPU capability as well. It can take a super fast NVME with a cheap PCIE card. I'm still using it now and haven't had a game that I couldn't play smoothly at max settings (other than ray traced games maxed out with no DLSS). I run an RTX 3070 TI in it and the temps don't even hit 70C on CPU or GPU no matter what I do. Amazing case design.

      I picked one up recently on FBMP for under $50. It has both processors and around 118Gb of ram. I haven't really had to time to mess with it much other than a verifying that it works. I thought about dropping my 2070S from my gaming machine in to see how it compares against my main PC. Its a i7 9700. I already have a spare PCIE nvme adapter from a previous build, so I think it would be a close race? I had a Z420 as my main gaming machine during the pandemic, so I have softspot for these Z machines, the build quality is great from the factory.

      @@Hughesburner I ran a 2070 in my z620 (V2) rig for a long time. Getting the highest clock speed CPU is key to maximizing it though. I found that the E5-1620 v2 was good gaming CPU mainly because it is dirt cheap and is capable of doing full boost clock on all 4 cores. The 2667 v2 is also a really good chip if you want more cores with a good clock speed. With a high clock speed Xeon and a 2070S, I would bet it will saturate the card well.

    Can you instill a normal ATX motherboard in this case? I actually prefer the way these cases look compared to modern "gaming" cases on the market and want to mod the front and install a 360mm radiator and possible one on the bottom with cutouts for exhaust.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi. M.2 is just a physical form factor of SSD drives. There are SATA M.2 and NVMe M.2 drives. NVMe drives are faster than the SATA drives. Unfortunately, this old workstation does not support boot from an NVMe device, but you can still use such device for installing programs and similar. It's also possible to use Clover to hack things around: www.win-raid.com/t2375f50-Guide-NVMe-boot-without-modding-your-UEFI-BIOS-Clover-EFI-bootloader-method.html
