    Does anyone happen to know if the empty/fill ports are NPT threads? would be super convenient if i could thread some quater turn valves onto it for cleaner oil changes.

    The hole under the BIG red cap on top of the pump housing is a lot easier place to pour the new oil in.

    I put the vacuum oil in the exhaust place instead of the oil chamber. because it was a chinese pump that said "OIL" on the exhuast cap. but theres another oil cap thats where the oil is supposed to go. How do i clear out the oil that i mistakenly poured in the exhaust chamber?

      well, I would imagine that you could either try to unscrew the oil screw on the bottom that lets the oil out... or turn the whole pump upside down and let the oil flow out the way it went in. I am far from an expert on this so good luck

      Esmar Garcia I did the same thing.... It must be some sick joke to put a big oil sign where oil is not supposed to go!

      Some vacuum pumps, you can pour the oil into the exhaust outlet but others have a valve built into the exhaust outlet that won't allow the oil to flow down into the reservoir. The purpose of this valve is to keep moisture, dirt and debris from entering the exhaust and contaminating the oil reservoir, it's a feature instead of a flaw. In this case, remove the fill plug and pour the oil into the oil fill.

    It says in the instructions for this pump to add oil until in bottom of sight glass then let run for a minute then add oil while pump is running and fill to oil line.

    What is the large red cap on top of the oil reservoir for?

    • @victork3397
      @victork3397 Před rokem +1

      I believe it’s for degassing. When you’re pulling a vacuum you open it up to allow moisture to escape. Otherwise it gets trapped in the oil and messes with your vacuum. If you want to pull a deep vacuum, you need to degas

    When my vacuum pump is almost at full vacuum it tends to release a misty substance into the air. Is that normal or a problem

    • @bennettslab2084
      @bennettslab2084  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yes as far as I can see my pump has always done that. I think it's a little bit of the pump oil evaporating in the low pressure

    I love how he says pump part and motor. When everyone watching knows he wasn’t a clue what inside the pump or how it works. Then he added that the motor will overheat without oil. There is no oil in the motor and if there is that pump has some problems. Lol
