What a shame. I agree that it appears they randomly closed one day without much of a notice. Literally nothing was done inside those 2 buildings that indicate a preparation to close them. Interesting.

Did you check out checkout the old k-mart.on 422. In the plaza.and Mary ms.restaurant near the massage parlor .all closed up.on 422 near mc Donald at the plaza.
i have ate at MR. C'S back in the 90's before....
I was there yesterday and walked in the front door of the restaurant. There was a jacket on the chair behind the cash register. The place settings were still intact, and the smell of mold made my lungs hurt. The window had a security decal on it, but definitely no alarms went off. It was obviously open. I suspect people go in but respect its spookiness and leave all the place settings and menus in place. Wonderfully creepy!
My husband wants the cursive mr cs sign… anyway he can get it?! Lol

There was a Mr.Cs in Omaha Nebraska it was an Italian restaurant. They still sell their sauce at the grocery store. The old building is gone now torn down for the collage.

Used to eat there and get frozen yogurt in the front, back in the 90's. I didn't even know it was closed since I don't get up that way anymore.

You should check out the old abandoned toy store down the road, just go across the bridge and keep driving you will run into it
Wow! I used to work here in 1995-1996 as a busser/cashier. It's so crazy to see the tables all set and ready for business. The view in the window with the family pictures is where I rang up customers. It's probably still the same cash register. I will check with my mom to see if she knows why they closed so suddenly.
Please do ask your mom! Also ask her why there is a jacket on the chair behind the cash register-as though someone is coming back!
Did your mom ever know why the restaurant closed its doors so suddenly? I can't find anything online regarding the restaurant closing; just other locations of Mr. C's Restaurants.

Very strange that they left the place with tables set up and personal pictures up by the front. I wonder if the owner died and no one to clear it out. Just lock the doors.
Really sad ( but kinda creepy too ) that it closed up so quickly but I am thinking the same as others and possibly the owners died suddenly and just never opened it back up. I sure hope someone at least cleaned out the fridge and freezers !

This might be a dumb question but I'll ask anyhow. How do plants or weeds grow that high off the ground inside a sign?
Seeds carried by birds and wind can land up high. Dirt can also be blown up too.

My guess is the owner passed away suddenly and the family didn't have the drive to keep it open. They just locked it up and walked away. That happened with a gas station convenience store here in my town. The owner died and his wife kept it going for a couple months then just locked it up and walked away. Didn't give any warning what so ever. You have to have passion and drive to keep a business going.

It looks like they moved to Rockford, Illinois? Their website has same logo font as this one. Maybe it was a failed second location?
In 1988 I worked at Mr Cs Pancake House, which is what it was called back then. Breakfast all day... and a HUUUUGE menu on top of that. Mr C had already passed away when I started and his 70-80 y.o. wife supervised us gals on the dinner shift. She had a beehive hairdo.. and would spin in circles while pulling out her fake antennas, hoping to pull in more customers. She told me I was the worst waitress ever. LoL. She was right. Mrs C's son and his family took over the restaurant and ran it for the longest time. Then, they sold it to new owners but not sure what happened after that.
