  • Stephen Gillen spent 17 years in prison as a high security inmate, sharing cells with some of Britain's most notorious criminals in the country's most violent prisons.
He explains how to survive the "jungle" of Britain's worst and most dangerous prisons. What happens from the moment you're sentenced? How should you act when you arrive in prison? How do you make sure other inmates do not bully and attack you?
Gillen says the first 24 hours of prison are critical in establishing yourself in the prison pecking order and making sure you survive day after day with your mental health in tack.

How terrible, what an awful life, crime is not the answer to anything. What a brave person to be strong enough to get out of the crime life and stand up to tell his story in public in the hope otheres don't follow the wrong path. He is a role model now for better and good must be terrible living with so much trauma. I hear Stephen Gillen id doing something called the Resilience code helping people. Interesting guy. I think it important to understand people first before judgment is made.

People shouldnt be so quick to judge. There are many in the Prison system that shouldnt be. Yes some are incorrigible , but not all. Stephen has turned his life around and deserves full credit for his efforts in working to try and steer people away from that life. And as he is from my neck of the woods i give him a thumbs up and wish him well. I was a former long term Prisoner myself and spent a couple of yrs at LL 90-92 thereabouts.

You wouldn't have to try and survive the first 24 hours in prison if you where a law abiding citizen.
