- What You NEED To Know Before Buying A BigHorn Sided By Side! A quick and easy guide to servicing the BigHorn 550 Explorer found at Tractor Supply and dealers near you. This side by side is very simple to maintain, however I did find a few surprises. In the video we also discuss greasing, maintenance intervals, repairing a flat tire and how to keep your machine lasting for a very long time.

Just purchased a 2014 Bighorn 400, it has a tick over 100 hours on it and 20 odd miles showing on the clock. Performed an oil and filter service, lubed all the grease fittings and changed out the rear brake caliper, seized. Every bolt and such must have been put on by King Kong, amazing.
Man thats awesome! Can you email me a pic? Would love to send it to the BH folks! Hope you get many years of service out of it. Sounds like it was barely used!

Hey, Joe. Maintenance is very important on the side by sides, four wheelers, etc. The farm still looking great. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you my friend!
Love this TN weather when it’s only a one shower day!
🤣. Totally
Tires and batteries its always something. Love this weather.
Absolutely my friend. But super easy to repair. And this weather is amazing!
Very informative ty on your stuff that's great. Be safe. Really like your vids. Keep um coming😊😂
Thanks Gene! Appreciate your kind words. Have a great Sunday.
Enjoyed video 😊.
Thanks for watching Ronnie!
Been wanting one of these.. thx for sharing videos on them. Also can you provide the link to the oil filter wrench set? Looked where you usually see posted links but not seeing. Thx in advance!

Thank you Sir for the video, my filters are supposed to be here tommorrow for mine. How many miles on yours so far? Mine has 220.
Hey Daniel! Not sure on the miles. Prob not that many since its a lot of stop and go around the property. I think more in hours than miles and it had been run at least 20 hours. Easy to service my friend; have fun!
Keep us posted. Possibly your hind sight could prevent a problem if I buy one.
🤣🤣🤣. I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for watching brother.
Hello from Maryville TN. Love your property and surrounding! I'm in process of moving to 20acre farm and looking for a SxS like this...Massimo seems to be only thing available now...
All the major brands are out of stock on lower end units for like a year out. Was thinking Polaris...but heard they give trouble after a few yrs.
So might have to take a chance on one of these if I want to enjoy fall ride and work.
What part of TN you in? Much appreciate your videos sir!
Hey There! I love Maryville TN. Some of the most beautiful country. The Massimo appears to be a really solid machine, but I don’t have experience with them. I think for 20 acres any of the machines that we have would do and be very helpful. The BigHorn 550 is VERY comfortable but the 400 is very nimble. Also the Kawasaki Mule we have is great along with the Coleman. I think you have some good options. And if you buy it from TSC they always seem to side with the customer and not the manufacturer. Keep me posted; I’m excited for you!
Hey! I spoke with some folks at TSC and BigHorn and if you feel comfortable sending me your email address I'll put you in touch with them and they will send one to your local store to test drive! If still interested send me an email at greenpartyoffive@gmail.com
Good video brother! How often are you greaasing your Kioti tractor? Im relatively new to the tractor world but trying to grease every 8 hours of use.
Hey buddy! Thanks! And it really depends on how I am using it. Every 10 hours or so is recommended. If I’m doing a lot of loader work then more. Just be sure to get the zerks under the machine too. Take care my friend!
Would like to know what you think about the UTV in general. Any positive feedback? I'm about ready to buy one
I think it is a very comfortable and solid machine. Not a speed demon or trail monster…but for work and enjoying a property it’s great. 👍🏼. Hope that helps!
Me again, sorry, but when I serviced mine there was no grease in anything. I found 16 grease zirks, so I thought I would let you know.
No worries and thanks for sharing! Anything else comes up please let us all know!
You only have to walk through a farmer's tool grave yard to find rusted, bent, not working, seized up and neglected equipment. All it takes is in most cases is a TLC approach to those costly items.
Agreed man. I enjoy taking care of the equipment and keeping it up. It’s therapy!
Hey Joe,
I just bought a Bighorn 550 and I am having issues with turning radius. It is very difficult. I am sure my wife could not turn it. I have it in unlock mode and H. I expected that with the 4x4 but not in 2 wheel drive. It feels like i'm fighting every turn. I feel like it shouldn't be that difficult. I am assuming it is not power steering? Any advice? Thanks!
Not power steering, but shouldn’t be hard to steer. Try checking the tire pressure, that could make steering really tough if low
And congratulations!
Does this unit not have a wet clutch.....? Does it require a JASO-MA oil....?
CVT Transmission
Where is the dealership you got it from? I'm here in East TN as well thanks
Hey! Mine is a Tractor Supply model so I would look into those local stores. Should have the 550 and the 400. Been a good machine!
@@JoeTheFarmer thanks so much! my mom an dad want one so I just thought I would ask, also where did you get your part for the oil change and such?
Happy to help! The part number is in the video but I just called BigHorn and ordered the part from them. Was the identical part
What do we need to know before buying, how to change the oil?
That servicing the machine is simple, and you can do it yourself. Folks stress over where a service center is. You only need one for a serious issue.
You was very very right about being tight,, was beginning to wonder if I was gonna get them broke lose. By the way my gasket stayed on too. Good information. Thanks
I known right! Like, who attached those suckers at the factory! Lol. Glad you got it done. Been a solid machine. Should last you a LONG time. 💪🏼
😊👊💪 Cool beans! You need to retire so you can play full time and clean the barn😂😅 Good stuff! I thought you might have your sidekick crawl under that bad boy. Thanks for sharing!🇺🇸🚜
🤣🤣🤣. My sidekick took the day off. Lol
How jerky is the take off in these….?
Very smooth. No clutch but a 3 speed
yet they find it a good idea to make a crew cab with no power steering.
I haven’t driven the crew cab; but that would seem to be something lacking. I never have issues without power steering in the 2 seater side by sides but our mule 4010 has power steering and my wife absolutely prefers it. Thanks for watching
you are being to obvious sounds like you are a spokes person for the company i would say you work for them
I don’t work for them. And though someone gives us a piece of equipment; that doesn’t influence my integrity. It’s been a solid machine. Maybe you should go test drive one and share what you think.
Thank you! I appreciate your video! I have a 400 Big Horn.Trouble finding refill cap for adding oil.
@@jimmysimpkins Refill cap is where the dipstick is. Pull the dipstick and remove the dipstick mount with a ratchet. 😁👍🏼
What do you need to know? You havent told us anything.
Maintenance.
