I converted my apartment bedroom into a green screen studio so we could shoot this video safely during Covid-19 quarantine. Director Kate Douglas imagined up this twisted take on "As Seen On TV" infomercials after hearing the demo for this tune and we had an incredible, fun time.
Found it first in a Disco Elysium animatic and frankly I love it, listening to it on repeat. Also just noticed it loops perfectly

Not too good at wrapping my head around the meaning of songs, but I'm gonna give analyzing this one a shot because I am experiencing 3 AM mania and if I don't express my thoughts I will explode.
The lyrics wander through seemingly disconnected ideas. TVs, drugs, shows of patriotism, and acts of hedonism. this is clearly done to show that these ideas are in fact connected somehow. The chorus makes it clear what that common factor is with the line "You want that good life? We've got a shortcut." These are exaggerated realities we drown ourselves in to cope with everyday life. But this song is saying that this goes beyond mere escapism. That these fantasies are being engineered and sold to us, this is also reinforced by the line "They will sell you a dream for a dollar .99", that whole bridge section in general is marvelous.
And what a damn beautiful artistic decision it was to frame this through the visuals of an as seen on TV infomercial, being pitched miracle products that, when you get your hands on them, aren't nearly as good as they promised to be, a perfect metaphor.
