If you go back you’ll notice Mark has spider web on him when he returned to his house after meeting Agent Spider. That’s because in the comics, Spider-Man wanted to help him after hearing his predicament and latched a web onto Mark but the portal closed too quickly before Spider-Man could go through. I imagine the exact same thing went down with Agent Spider here.
Would have been a great team up between the two if he was able to cross the portal with him
Yeas already in comics spider man when mark tried to return spider man webbed him so he could help him but he changed his mind because he didn't want to stuck in his dimensions read comics because the show is exactly like comics but it will be spoilers
That's a neat detail! I'm avoiding the comics so I don't spoil the show (I made the mistake of looking up Oliver and got a real quick impression how huge this all gets) but I like hearing those little things.
It was a wild choice for Angstrom to send Mark to the Marvel and DC universes. He easily could have brought back some powerful allies or weapons.

Angstrom Levy had my sympathy at first because of his condition and all of the bad encounters with Invincible the other versions of him had. But in short, he’s practically a mental patient with literally many voices and minds in his own head and can’t even keep track which are his own. Now someone with such a unstable mind with dimensional hopping powers is someone I imagine is much too dangerous to let loose, especially since he has no problem hurting a helpless woman and a baby no matter how justified he tries to make it seem.
One of my all-time favorite villains because he's so easy to identify with at first and then has circumstances lead to a logical yet indefensible hatred of Mark and his family.
Yet unlike a mental patient those weren't delusions as they all happened in reality (although different realities) which makes it all the harder since Angstrom Levy's decent into villainy was all caused by spiraling set of circumstances that could've been avoided. For instance, if Mark disobeyed Cecil and listened to Angstrom (though unlikely to happen since this his 1st mission back after the Omni-man incident yet he does end up disobeying Cecil anyway later when goes saves the Fish people, goes to Thraxan planet, etc. but that's neither here nor there) or if Angstrom chose to go against his moral/ethical code and let Mark possibly be killed by the alternate universe Maulers for the "greater good" that he could bring. At the end of the day it's sad and I feel like death could not come to a person as sympathetic as Angstrom nor could the hand that brought his death, Mark Grayson, be just as sympathetic if not more so, even empathetic.
I’m pretty sure that doesn’t take away the fact that mark in however many dimensions was a piece of sht and it makes sense why he wants to kill mark and his family

Levy does not have my sympathy. He has a million versions of him inside, and dimensional hopping powers. He could have done OTHER things. He could have helped other dimensions along with working out his revenge.
Big shoutout to Sterling Brown(Angstrom Levy), Sandra Oh(Debbie), and Steven Yeun(Mark). They really put the ACTING in voice acting 👏
Yeah. Sterling K. Brown deserves a lot more props for his voice acting this episode. You can feel his pain, hatred, and also unstable insanity. He walks the line between “evil genius” and “uncontrollable psychopath” so well

It helped that Robert Kirkman was writing some Marvel books at the time. So it was easier for him to do a Marvel Team-Up issue with Spider-Man and Invincible.
This episode had the most visceral reaction from me and when I had I had been desensitized to the violence, the part with Debbie being hurt happened. That shocked me more than than anything else this season. Yeah I think she is my favorite character on the show.
We know she'll get better. People are coming back from the dead in this show.
Seriously - we’re used to seeing the heroes and villains get pulverized but seeing Debbie fight so desperately to protect Oliver was impactful. When she got her arm broken it was heart breaking. Sandra Oh is so phenomenal in this role.
Mark saying, I thought you were stronger.... even in his rage he still only stopped holding back because he thought Levy could take the hits
I also liked how the show made me wonder if Mark was talking to himself, like, "I thought you were stronger, Mark, and could control yourself."
Stronger than his Dad, strong enough to not lose it and kill somebody… yeah. This is going to have repercussions across his psyche.

I'm not sure, but I think they made the dinosaurs talk like Sir David Attenborough, but I'm not an expert on British accents. Still, this would make it even funnier if true.

Agent Spider and Prof. Ock are original characters made for the show. In the comic, it was an actually crossover with Spider-Man with Doc Ock as the villain. The person that voices Agent Spider is Josh Keaton, who also voiced Spider-Man in the show Spectacular Spider-Man
I want to say this has been one of my favourite reactions so far, from some people I've seen, they felt hyped or even half cheered, as Mark finally stopped holding back, when, to me, Mark's killing of Angstrom in this dimension has always been a horrifying moment, because of the idea the first kill is always the hardest, and any future ones will be slightly easier (not to say they will be easy), and Mark is such a precious and kind person and I don't want to see what would become of him if he is to ever start killing. Seeing you stressed and panicked as Mark fought so violently reminded me so much of how I felt when I read the comics for the first time, so thanks for letting me relive a bit of what it was like when I first read this amazing series

Yellow; it’s one the opposite side of the colour spectrum (the one that dictates why red-coloured heroes like Spider-Man have so many green enemies).
Mark did prove Angstrom Levy right, that Mark is a killer (which is what he needs to be when fighting Viltrumites). And he was in the same position that Nolan was in while beating up Mark in the season 1 finale.
He didn't. Mark hasn't killed anyone innocent like his alternate versions, and he did not enjoy or felt indifference for what he did. Angstrom Levy deserved what he got.

with how things are obvious parodies at times it wouldn't surprise me if viltramites work like sayans from dragonball where their human hybrids have a higher potential. he might get to a point where he can stop them without needing to kill them unlike his current point which he could probably kill them if he wasn't holding back.
Oh, btw, Agent Spider (the characters name) is voiced by Josh Keaton, who voiced Spiderman in the Spectacular Spiderman series. The creator of Invincible, Kirkman, wanted to find an authentic voice actor for the cameo, and he did! Lol
Also I think someone else mentioned it, but in the original comics, it wasn't parody characters (agent spider and Dr Omniptopus), but actually Spidey and Doc Ock.
When you consider the timeline with the previous episode, Mark really had a bad day. When Angstrom called, he had JUST broken up with Amber. And the breakup with Amber occurred right after his fight with Anissa.
Talk about a bad date.

I know that what Nolan did in the first season cannot be undone, however, I am happy to see how far he's come in terms of empathy and love. I find it to be very wholesome.
I love the idea behind Angstrom being used to represent Mark’s character. His mind has been jumbled up with all of the memories of his counterparts and the vast majority of universes show Mark embracing being a Viltrumite. The implication is that even though this Mark is a hero, he still has similar traits to his counterparts when it comes to violence.
Mark’s decision at the end represents that Mark still feels that same rage that is emblematic of Viltrumites and now Mark has to wrestle with the fact that deep down he can be just as aggressive as a Viltrumite. Mark beat Angstrom the same way Nolan beat Mark in the Season 1 finale. Essentially the multiverse is used as a way to explore Mark’s character as opposed to fanservice cameos……although those Spider-Man and Batman scenes were fire 😏
Josh Keaton stays playing Spiders (Spider-Man, Black Spider in YJ, and now Agent Spider) and it feels good 😎
Put another way, our Mark is a good person… but not because he’s inherently predisposed to goodness but because he *chooses* to be good. Which is all the more impactful because most versions of him choose not to be… This is also why people like Superman’s character at his best yet too many others don’t get it, unfortunately.
It’s because Kirkman is so good at breaking down the fundamentals of his characters that people love it, but they also expect it from everyone else even if that’s not the best idea (or the point of other stories similar to this one).
So far the biggest change from the books in the second half of this season was that Rae (Ray in the comics) survived getting eaten by Komodo Dragon

When he broke Debbie’s arm I lost it, some of these scenes are so hard to watch
Fun thing to notice: Mark did the same combo to Angstrom his dad almost finished on him. Nolan just didn't do the double hammer fist to finish Mark off, but Mark did that to Angstrom. That probably fuels his feelings of guilt and similarity to his father even further.

The whole Batman bit was originally part of the Spider-man crossover. Mark had a whole thing where he guessed the Avenger's superhero names based off of Pete's... Robot-man, Claw-man, Flag-man, Fabio-man, Bat-woman, and uh... Black-man?

The story is being adapted almost literally. There are a few changes and some are small things like the order in which some events happen. They're more or less the same but they don't happen exactly when I was expecting them. Other changes are potentially big things like Shrinking Rae surviving that encounter with the Lizard League. I read somewhere that for some reason they don't have the rights for every hero that should appear in future seasons so they probably kept her alive to fill some of the gaps left by those characters.
Mark and Amber's relationship is more or less the same but I thought they handled it better in this version... well except for season 1, I was confused with how they did that part. The most important part that changed is their encounter with Anissa, in the comics that doesn't happen but adding it to the mix was a good decision and it gave them a very good and believable reason to end their relationship. Anissa does show up by surprise in the comics but under different circumstances.
that was a heavy and beautifully written episode. It showed alot of the struggles a human superhero would go through and something not shown enough in this genre. you also done the Alan smile again. Makes me smile everytime it's just funny and cute how happy you are whenever he appears.
now we wait for probably another 2 years to get season 3 😢
I read somewhere they had prepared for season 3 in some way so it wouldn't be as long of a wait (like maybe 1 year between seasons). Take it with a grain of salt, not sure what the original source were

I'd call Cecil a "Neutral Good" sort of character. He is determined to protect the planet, but no ethical boundry is sacred in the pursuit of that goal, even if it goes against his own morals.
Interesting tidbit, Levy says that he's never encountered Oliver before, which means this is the only dimension where Nolan left earth, which means this is the only dimension where both Nolan and Mark turned out to be good guys, or as close to good as Nolan gets I guess

The two unnamed characters seen with the Future Guardians are from another comic Kirkman did called Capes Inc. It's about superheroes who do shift work, clocking in from 9-5, having to request permission for overtime and all.
The characters were Kid Thor and Knockout, and they crossed over with Invincible all the time.
I didn't think they'd bring them in because I thought we'd have seen them already, so I got super excited when they showed up on screen
The Immortal was Abraham Lincoln but the literal Holy Grail in his cabin would suggest he was also … someone else. …
God what a fantastic episode this was. I watched it immediately as soon as it released and I'm still thinking about it.
I'm soooooo happy with the way they resolved the Rudy and Monster Girl situation. It wasn't just about Rudy being wrong, they *both* fucked up. And they were able to be real with each other and admit how terrible they both are at communication. lol
Angstrom's story is way more tragic than I expected. I thought he was going to somehow turn around and team-up with the good guys... nope. He started out with the best of intentions, had a plan to help fight the good fight... and then it backfired, driving him insane with rage. There was nothing Mark could have done, the man couldn't be reasoned with. Even if Mark managed to knock him out and imprison him... he could just portal out in a second. There is a silver lining, though. Angstrom taught Mark a lesson that he absolutely needed: Mark needs to learn how to fight without holding back, but to also have enough presence-of-mind to still remain in control of himself.
Man, I cannot *wait* to see how Allan and Nolan break out of jail! This was a team up that I didn't expect but am absolutely excited to see!
Angstrom Levy wanted to save the world, I think in this episode he did. He taught Mark the lesson that Nolan was trying to teach in episode four, if he wants to win he can’t hold back. I can’t wait for season 3, but I guess I’ll have to. Hope it's not too long a wait.

That scream that Oliver let out when his head hit the floor triggered my fight or flight response. I almost punched my monitor.
Given his unique physiology, I don’t want to imagine the kind of trauma he’s experiencing… or how it’s going to affect him when he gets older.
I loved that they used Angstrom's powers to show several other popular universes. The Walking Dead one totally flew over my head, because I haven't actually watched it properly yet. The talking dinosaurs one was fun to see, Spider-Man and Doc Ock was cool, and the Batman cameo was just funny.
I really like that we see Mark struggling with the killing aspect. They're taking the hard way with the writing and it's awesome.
Nolan, Mark, and Debbie all have the same eye out of commission. They now each have the same number of useful eyes as Allen...
All the crazy stuff is fun, I still think that my favorite stuff from this series is Mark and Debbie's scenes together. A normal yet very special relationship. That end line from Nolan made me laugh so loud.

That's not what happened. Only Robot was there, but Eve called him Rex, for some reason. Either Rex is now fighting as Robot, or Rudy is now going by Rex. I wonder what happened in that timeline.

That scene in the house was by far the most intense scene in the entire show, or at least equal to the ending of season 1, had my heart pounding and my jaw on the floor when Levy broke Debbie's arm. I knew that seeing Debbie or Oliver get hurt would be the thing to push Mark over the edge, which he really needed to finally see he has to get better to protect the planet, and seeing Nolan say he regrets what he did and even misses Debbie, those are feelings Viltrumites just don't have. So much character development in this episode, the voice actors did an amazing job, and I gotta admit that black and yellow evil Mark suit with the cape was kinda dope looking!
Feelings they’re not *meant* to have… Have they bred them out or did they condition them out of their race? They certainly tried to, at least, and it speaks volumes of how much it’s messed up not just their world but many across the universe as a consequence of their hubris.
I don't know if I could contain my rage enough in that moment to not kill angstrom.
I feel like that's. Also, what Mark is going through is that he has a little bit of his dad in him when it comes to anger and rage and I know that I have that too. My dad has anger management issues Aunt. Luckily I've learned how to kind of control that, but I have always been afraid of what my rage might lead me to do.
The end, when he said he misses his wife. Smh so devastating. What's EVEN SWEETER than revenge? Redemption.
I love that some of the other Marks have different outfits. It gives a little more to the characters other than just Mark bur from another universe.

I think one of the best lines in this episode was Eve telling Mark he “doesn’t deserve this”. These couple words speak volume to her character and the dynamic of their relationship. I’m hopeful Mark takes older Eve’s advice and acts on it soon.

The thing that always bugged me in the comics and now in the show with the whole "Mark is stuck on a dead Earth" thing is that he can fly in space. Sure, it is an alternate universe, space is big, and Mark doesn't actually know where anything is, but there is also no reason he has to just stay on Earth the whole time. Go see if this universe has Martians. Go look for Allen and the C.O.P. Or even go find the Viltrumites. Plus, someone out there could have the ability to send you home.
This show is proof that naturalistic dialogue can still be heavy and be taken seriously. It still carries gravitas, while being MUCH more believable. What seems like "sloppy" or "lazy" dialogue to *some* people is just writers creating dialogue the way people ACTUALLY talk to each other.
The voice acting of "I miss my wife" is just top shelf! It really conveys sadness and yearning, imo.
They are very faithful to the source material.
I could watch a whole episode of Allen the Alien & Nolan traveling together. JK Simmons and Seth Rogens are goats. 🙌🏼
Oh, and when the show is over, do read the trades of the comic. I've read comics for just over fifty years now and Invincible is by far the best comic I've ever read. Give it a go, you'll love it.
Levy did say that Debbie joined Nolan and Mark in many dimensions, so this Debbie, like this Mark, is different and special. Did this Debbie change Nolan, or was this Nolan capable of being changed? Was it Debbie or Amber or Eve or something else that made this Mark stand against his father, and that was what started Nolan on his own path? Or was it always in this Nolan, since he wrote about the way to defeat the Empire in his books?
A lot of people forget it but in S1 there was a bit about a mummy coming alive but then is sealed in by Mark and Nolan flying through the desert super fast. Now Mark accidentally sealed in the daughter of the original mercenary too XD

Another fun fact, Spiderman actually tried to join and help Mark, hence when Mark came back he had a web on his back, Spiderman tagged him with web to be pulled through the portal and follow Mark but didn't make it through
