      Alyssa FRatt As far as my own skincare, I use the Lush Kalamazoo cleanser, Breath of Fresh Air toner, and Vanishing Cream moisturizer in the morning times, but I use the Fresh Soy cleanser at night (to remove my makeup and cleanse) and use the Boscia Black Gel moisturizer at night time. Also I can't live without the bite agave lip mask!!!!

    Tati, I'm sorry but I have to speak up. What you stated about eye creams having smaller molecules is simply not true. I also looked up the ingredient list of the Tata eye cream and the ingredients aren't unique and don't possess a smaller molecular structure. One of their claims is that one of the ingredients can relax muscles to reduce wrinkles - again, not true! This is all marketing hype! I'm a neuroscientist and my husband is a medicinal chemist and I can tell you that there is no research that support any of these claims. In fact there is research that demonstrates poor absorption (if any at all) of some of the listed ingredients. I'm glad you have discovered Paula's Choice. All her products are formulated around peer reviewed research articles.

    Oh Tati be careful with exfoliating!! In my esthetics program we have been learning it is not good to exfoliate more than once every few days. You may only want to use the exfoliating side of the cotton round once instead of twice during your routine and do not do it everyday. Over exfoliation is a huge cause of breakouts and over oil production. LOVED your product choices, I'm going to have to try some of these out, especially the cleansing device, as much as I loved my Clarissonic, It always kinda grossed me out using it with the same brush head all the time. xoxox Great video

    • @MichelleMacAuley
      @MichelleMacAuley Před 9 lety +1

      Will Cook True! Also, using physical exfoliators with fruit pits, nutshells, crystals, sugar, salt or microbeads on the face can be quite damaging; especially for those over 40. It is believed that the irritation caused by harsh physical exfoliants cause an inflammatory reaction that can speed up the aging process. Chemical exfoliators work better and are more safe, especially for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin. I've done tons of research because I want to keep my over 35 yr old face wrinkle-free as long as possible and so far, it's working.

    I never heard you talking about German products. I love skin care too and I am a cosmetic junkie just like you. I like a lot testing always new products. Right now I am testing these:
    - Alverde Clear Waschcreme Heilerde: it is a drugstore face cleanser for impure skin, it is not exclusively indicated for oily skin, it actually works also on my dry skin and it's based on dried mud used for its therapeutic properties. After you wash your face with this, you not only need to rinse it off very well, you should also remove the extra little particles of dried mud with a cotton pad and some micellar water before toning. It goes perfectly with Lavera Hautbildverfeinerndes Fluid (see below);
    - Alverde Q10-Reinigungsöl Bio-Gojibeere: it is a drugstore face cleanser as well, but oil based and enriched with goji berry extracts, almond oil, pomegranate oil and apricot seeds oil. A panacea for dry skin, very gentle, not greasy and it does remove makeup with no effort;
    - Melvita Bouquet Floral Crème Nettoyante Exfoliante: it is a gentle peeling cream, with rose water, orange blossom water, and daffodil extracts. It is not a drugstore product, but it is absolutely okay, it costs about 16 euros for 50 milliliters, so maybe 18 dollars. It's very, very gentle, so it's better on sensitive skin which doesn't need a deep vigorous treatment. Still, it is very refreshing as well;
    - Weleda Belebendes Gesichtswasser: this is not a drugstore product as well, but the price is very reasonable. It's a toner with hamamelis extracts, it smells like medicines or some herbs based mouthwash, but it's incredibly refreshing. It's like a mint for your pores and it tends to reduce their size. Warning - it's not gentle at all, but it works;
    - Bebe Anti-Pickel Gesichtswasser: a drugstore toner based on salicylic acid. This is very aggressive, so be aware. It's not suitable for sensitive skin, I use it really just during my period if I have more than one or two breakouts. You feel on your skin all the alcohol and the menthol and the eucalyptus leaf oil. And it burns, sometimes it just burns. This toner is a warrior, so use it moderately;
    - Tautropfen Soothing Solutions Sanftes Rosenwasser: this toning spray is a little pricey for being just rose water, but I love it. I really just love it. It's perfect for sensitive and easily irritated skin, it's very soothing, you get just been surrounded in a cloud of rose water and it feels on the skin like you rubbed gently soft rose petals on your cheeks;
    - Melvita Huile de Nigelle: again not a drugstore product, it's pure nigella oil. This is not a rich greasy oil, it's very easy for your skin to absorb and it's actually an oil suitable for combo skin types. It stimulates your own skin protecting skills, it avoids any skin inflammation and it's antibacterial, but it also tends to balance your skin, hydrating your dry zones and reducing the oil production on your oily zones. I found it very useful, it's perfect on the go because it gets absorbed very quick and I feel finally hydrated enough;
    - Weleda Granatapfel-Regenerationsöl: it's pomegranate oil and it is a must have. I think it does magic on little scars, it's rich in antioxidants and very regenerating. Lots of brands use pomegranate oil in their anti-aging cosmetics, but I cannot confirm any anti-aging action because I have little, little wrinkles just in my eye area and I prefer not to use oils in there;
    - Diaderma Karottenöl: it's carrot oil, but actually, if you read narrowly the ingredients list, you can find out it contains just a little carrot extracts in olive oil, almond oil, safflower oil, sunflower seeds oil, corn oil, avocado oil, soy oil and an amount of herbs extracts such as arnica, sage, hamamelis and chamomile, which is somehow disappointing as well as great at the same time, but... It is so irritating. My forehead and my pores get all kind of inflamed. I have to test it better, maybe it just stimulates my circulation. I don't know, but the effect is pretty scaring, I felt like when I was in the high school, all covered with acne. And it is photosensitizing, so be aware. It is also very cheap. I would tend to advise you against it;
    - Lavera Hautbildverfeinerndes Fluid: it is a nice, refreshing face fluid for impure skin, with organic mint, zinc, and salicylic acid. It's pore refining, moisturizing, but purifying at the same time, so it doesn't dry your skin out while it reduces your imperfections. It is very minty and you are gonna smell like those chewing gums against the bad breath, but it is not so annoying. Maybe just avoid getting too close to your eye area if you have sensitive eyes. In combination with the Alverde Clear Waschcreme Heilerde, already after the first application, letting the fluid act all night long, the result is surprising;
    - Alverde Intensiv Repair Pflegecreme: it's a very thick face cream based on avocado butter for very dry skin. You have to massage a lot because it is so thick that it becomes almost a salve. I don't think it is good for dehydrated skin. It is very rich and nutritive, but if your skin is cracked and you didn't scrub very vigorously your face before, you are gonna get a pretty unpleasant scabby effect;
    - Alverde Sensitiv 24h Creme: it's another face cream for sensitive skin, with hamamelis and chamomile extracts. The consistency is very fluid, almost milky. The cream is very light, quite hydrating, but nothing life-changing. It contains mango butter and karité butter, but I really don't feel my skin enough hydrated. It's not very sensitive-friendly as well. For me thumbs down;
    - Weleda Intensive Feuchtigkeit Erfrischende Tagespflege: it's a day cream for dry skin with iris extracts. I think this is just perfect. The consistency is so pleasing, it is kind of buttery, but it melts immediately so softly. It smells heavenly. The cream is rich and it fully hydrates your skin. It definitely fulfills your thirsty skin. It does magic even if your skin is cracked. Of course, it is absolutely not suitable for oily skin, not even combo skin, I would say. However, it is worth a try, also just as a hydrating overnight mask.

    I also bought those lip suction enhancer things lol. It absolutely worked like a dream for me. Lip injections can bruise your lips also and I think the suction device (when used properly) is a little bit safer than injecting fillers into your body and it's not as permanent. That was just my experience with it!

    • @Girlofpages
      @Girlofpages Před 9 lety +3

      But the results from the lip injections last a lot longer than the bruise. Unlike the suction gadget.

      ***** :( I was thinking to get the lip enchanter, but does it gonna pull the skin and eventually makes the skin around the mouth and lips have early wrinkles or sags over time?

    • @AmandaWhittenBeauty
      @AmandaWhittenBeauty Před 9 lety

      Wendy Naomi I have been curious about that as well! This isn't a product I really use anymore. I just tried it for a period of time because I was curious about it lol. I have heard claims that it is supposed to strengthen the muscles around your mouth and then the plumping effect will last longer. Check out liptifuls. They talk about the mouth muscle situation.

    • @wendynaomi1050
      @wendynaomi1050 Před 9 lety

      I guess that pouting the lips will makes the muscles moves, it is true that people don't really move/exercise the muscles around the mouth often, unless by smiling, talking and eating, but again, there might be slight tugging/pulling on the skin around the lips. I guess whats best is always been hearing from reviews

    I am an Esthetician and I can tell you that too much exfoliating is not good for your skin, three times a week is the proper amount of days per week you need to exfoliate. Too much exfoliating can cause your skin to become red and irritated, you can even break some capillaries especially on your cheeks.

    I would love to see a night time skincare routine. I may not look like it but I'm 36 and I believe in prevention versus fixing so that's really helpe me so far. With that said I have a thyroid disease now and a brain tumor (sorry to get morbid but wanted to explain the drastic change) that has changed my skin from normal to oily with dry patches and sensitive like you wouldn't believe. I can't even go out in sun for an average 5 minute exposure. It's been a struggle having my holy grail skincare and makeup suddenly not work for me. It's a different approach to it all and it's so difficult and frustrating. Watching your videos you have spoken about oily skin and sensitive skin so I'm very interested in your routine and that you look for things that actually work , be it on the low end or high end. You are not just interested in the label but the product. Love that about your channel, complete diversity. Now that I wrote a novel thanks for the awesome skincare demonstration 😀

I own just about everything from that line and I have never been disappointed with any of the products. I LOVE the lip scrubs from Fortune Cookie Soap, because they are edible (they have minty ones and sweet ones). So you scrub and then lick it off which is great for someone like me who hates to have to wipe off that scrubby stuff. Just wanted to recommend that!

      95klopez It may be that you're sensitive to the glycolic acid it contains. Use it at night, applying your usual moisturizer immediately thereafter. Start by using it every 3rd night, and gradually increase use as your skin becomes accustomed to it, until you're using it every night. I've been using this product for a couple of years with excellent results. Best of luck!

    • @careylove1

      95klopez I agree with Kaycee K, if your sensitive to it, use it every other day or so and follow with a moisturizer. I use CeraVe p.m. (drug store) very gentle and effective (and inexpensive). If you use any kind of retinol or retin I would use it on the opposite night just so you don't over do it. Good luck :)

    I don't know if I would say skin care is my favorite - but my mother taught me early on that taking care of your skin was essential. I take pride in the fact that most people think I'm like 7 years younger than I actually am - and I give all the credit to good skin care. Now - I can't afford to buy a lot of high end or pricey products and sometimes I even use homemade things. And masks - I love a good clay mask. I've been using them since I was in high school! Great video Tati!

    I am also a skincare junkie. It's kind of bad really. 🙈 Of everything I've used, two HUGE game changers for me have been Estēe Lauder Perfectionist [CP+R] serum which I use during the day and Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil which, as the name suggests, I use at nighttime. They are honestly two pretty pricey items, although the latter will last you forever, but they are worth every penny. I actually first heard of Paula's Choice and the Beautypedia part of her site a couple years ago and used it to find the serum, and I ended up just kind of randomly taking a chance on the night oil because I liked its ingredients. Also, for anyone who may be curious, I have combination to oily skin that is very sensitive and acne prone. If you haven't tried these yet, you should! 😊👍

    I'm never sure about Paula's Choice because I always go on their website to look at her reviews of skincare products but the website seems to always slate any products I search for, even if people have been recommending them. For instance I just searched for the Shiseido IBUKI Gentle Cleanser which you love and they've given it one star and have said that its bad for your skin!! So I'm always put off buying her own line of products as I feel like maybe she slates other skincare products just to get people to buy her line? I don't know what to think and whether to bite the bullet and purchase one of her own products to see if it's worth it?

    • @ReinaIsAQueen
      @ReinaIsAQueen Před 9 lety

      Cherrelle Boyce I kind of felt like this too because she doesn't give high or good ratings to things I like, but if it works for YOU and you like it that's what matters. She looks at it from a scientific perspective and gives low ratings to a lot of products with fragrances, etc. because I guess that's not the best for skin. Also, reddit and so many people on youtube LOVE Paula's Choice, I want to try her stuff so I'm going to order samples.

      Sabrina Ayrton Oh I've been there before too. My skin started breaking out like crazy 2 years ago with cystic acne on my cheeks especially and it got to the point where I was just sick and tired of everything. I looked up so many ways to stop the breakout and one thing that they suggested was to take a break from my skincare routine and cleansing for like 2 weeks or so and see how it goes. I waited 3-4 weeks without using any of my skincare, only washed it once every 2-3 days to get it back to normal and oh my dear lord, the acne started dying down like a miracle. What I've learned is, don't be rough with it, don't over cleanse it, don't use too much products on your skin, and be sure not to touch your face at all times. After following those rules, my skin looks really good. Of course nothing can be done about the scars left on my face but after exfoliating here and there and using whitening creams (I know, don't judge. I like using Asian whitening products) and so far I can see it going away little by little.

      Sabrina Ayrton I've had acne problems for about 12 years now, I've tried skincare products, pills, injections even, and nothing worked, but for about 2 months now I've been using grape seed oil every night and I can see an improvement. It's not much, I think it would be more effective if I didn't have to wear make-up almost every day (I work in a beauty store), but at least I cut off on MAC Studio Fix Fluid which broke me out horribly on my neck, and I've never had acne on my neck before wtf (btw I love MAC don't get me wrong, just not this foundation).

      Sabrina Ayrton This was me most of my life. Proactive worked for me when i was 19-28. Then it just stopped working. :( For a few months (since April) I've been using Goldfaden MD Doctors Scrub and it has completely changed my life! The first 3 weeks I had purging, however, so be aware! BUT, keep at it (using a small amount at night.. you can also mix it with a more gentle facial cleanser at first until your skin can tolerate the exfoliation) don't stop using it or else you'll break out all over. :-) In the AM I wash my face with tap water and use a cleanser that's moisturizing - Caudalie has a good one with Camomile, but you can use a drugstore one if you want.
