  • This is the second in a series of videos from our holiday to Lake Garda, Italy from 14th to 28th June 2023.
Look out for more videos from our trip.
In this video we take the cable car up the Monte Baldo Mountains from Malcesine .
From the top cable car station we walk south on the ridge to the summit of Cima delle Pozzette. It is a stunning walk with spectacular views all the way.
The summit of Cima delle Pozzette is 2132m (6995ft) and offers stunning views, with the full length of Lake Garda (32 miles) in view. The far reaching views over the mountains to the high snow capped peaks in the distance is equally as stunning.
The walk to the summit of Cima delle Pozzette and back to the cable car station is around 4.5 miles.
Even though the walk starts at the top cable car station there is still 1500ft of ascent to reach the summit.

That opening cable-car footage was spectacular......I would have been constantly thinking about the SWL(safe-working-load) of those cables, ha,ha......goes without saying ''Eddie Caisley'' brings blue-sky weather 😎.................would love to go to the Italian lakes, cracking ridge with spectacular views and some rather precarious-drops. I cant imagine how many SD cards I would fill with photos, never mind footage.........I was staggered by the lack of other walkers/hikers(perfect)....that must have been the holiday of a lifetime, totally unforgettable. Superb Eddie you jammy so and so lol.......ATVB.....Stu/Wendy..👍👍👌

Hi Stu, thanks. The cable car journey up the mountain was in two sections. There was a cable car station half way up, then the second cable car to the top station. Better than walking up as it was around 7 miles with 6000ft of ascent! It was our first time at lake Garda and it definitely won't be our last, we had a great holiday. It was a Saturday when we did this walk and we thought there would be more people, but it was fairly quiet. A lot of people where just going up the cable car and seeing the views from the cable car station and then heading back down. This was a great walk with stunning views, we could have stayed up there for ages. Thanks again for watching & commenting Stu, it is appreciated. Take care and Best Wishes to you & Wendy from us both.

Cracking walk there Eddie. We went up in the cable car with the intention of doing this walk but after 10 minutes the cloud came down, we could barely see anything so had to abort the mission. You got some amazing views with spectacular scenery. Nice to see what we missed. Thanks for posting

Hi David, Thanks. It is a great walk with stunning views all the way. Gutted for you ,that you didn't get the weather when you went up there, but sounds like you made the right decision as it is not the place to be in poor weather. You will have to go back and try it again! Thanks again for watching & commenting. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

Hi Mindy. Thank you, it is a stunning walk with superb views all the way. We did walk a bit further along the ridge but decided to turn back as the paths became more precarious with steep drops beyond the summit of Cima delle Pozzette. We loved Malceine, have a great time! Cheers. Eddie.

@@mindyfeldman1091 Hi Mindy, we got the cable car up at around 9am and were back at the cable car station to catch the cable car back down at around 5.30pm, bearing in mind we walked beyond the summit of Cima del Pozzette. It also took us longer due to the filming etc. We also sat for quite a while at the summit and had a coffee while taking in the fabulous views. The walk will be a lot shorter if you just walk to the summit and back to the cable car. It is definitely worth doing, the views are stunning! We did two other mountain walks during our stay in Malcesine, one was to Monte Altissimo, another great walk! I have video footage of the walks, it is just getting the time to do the videos! Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

Hi Eddie, hi Carol. What a wonderful walk, beautiful views as far as the eye can see. What were the peaks way in the distance to the north with the snow on, would they be the alps?
Thank you for sharing your day and indeed your holiday with us. All the best Dave.

Hi Dave. Thanks. It was a great walk with stunning views all the way. We both really enjoyed being up on the mountain and could have sat up there for hours. Being able to see all of Lake Garda below us was fantastic. The mountains in the distance with the snow on would be part of the Alps. I have looked at a summit Panorama online, and it shows the mountains visible from the summit of Cima delle Pozzette. The higher peaks are between 3500-4000m. Lake Garda is definitely a place we will return to. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Take care & Best Wishes from us both.

Fantastic Eddie, really enjoyed this video and the stunning views. Andrea noticed you were wearing your hiking boots and wondered how you managed to get them through the airport restrictions! Looked a well trod path, with easy to follow markers, and only a few steep bits. As ever you got your usual weather but you kind of expect that there. Did notice a pool of water at one point on the path and a lot of green bushes so there must be a bit of rain there from time to time. At almost 7k feet is this your highest mountain? I like the cable car idea too, we could do with a few of those in the Lake District. Andrea was shocked at how lovely the scenery was and how big Lake Garda is - I think I could persuade her to go!! Regards, Ashley

Hi Ashley, thanks. It was a great walk with stunning views all the way. It was a fairly clear path along the ridge and the markers on the rocks reassured us we were on the right track. One of the things that struck us as soon as we arrived in Lake Garda was the greenery. The whole area was like that. The cable car was great. I mapped out a walk from Malcesine to the cable car station and it was a 7 mile walk with 6000ft of ascent! Funny you should mention the hiking boots. I had mine in the suitcase to travel to Italy and back and had no issues, but Carol decided to wear hers to save room in her case (she has big feet, ha!) I had no problems going through security but Carol had to take her boots off both ways. On the way back from Italy Carols boots went through the scanner and went missing! She was standing in the airport at Verona with no shoes on, wondering where her boots had gone. She eventually got them, they had been through a different scanner. She will put them in the suitcase next time! Lake Garda is a beautiful place with lots to see and do, we will definitely be going back. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Best Wishes to you and Andrea from both of us.

How bad was the queue for the cable car?

    • @eddiecaisley5746
      @eddiecaisley5746  Před 11 měsíci +1

Hi, we got to the cable car station around 8.30am and there was no queue. I downloaded the app for the cable car on to my phone and bought the tickets through the app ( it is 2 euros cheaper doing it this way) It saves buying tickets at the cable car station. You just go straight through to the cable car. There was a bit of a queue at the top when we came back down, but nothing too bad. We went up a few times during our holiday and always got to the cable car station between 8.30-9.00 and there was no queue. If you go later, a lot of people from other parts of Lake Garda who visit Malcesine by the boats & ferries will be going up. Thanks for watching, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

@@yorkshirelass8954 Limone is a beautiful place. We went over on the boat and had a look around. It is really nice. There are boats going back and forward from Malcesine to Limone all day for 9 euros return. This was cheaper and more frequent than the larger ferries.

@eddiecaisley5746 good to hear Limone looks beautiful and the ferry service will be handy. Want to visit the castle and take the cable car up to the top won't be doing the hike! I've been checking out the bars and restaurants in all the places I can get to easily simply can't wait!
