Americans will never buy this dumb car without guarantee, but good for China though.. i would love to invest in NIO on the stocks market too, i think the company has a promising future... but i cant totally trust them on their first car

@@fei8085 I think you are right, all these are capitals that are utilised in marketing in a different manner. Whether it is effective or not, depends on the market they are in. Therein, the questions potential investor should be having is.... do they understand their local market well enough? So far, it has been 'alright', mainly to gain recognition. I'm a small investor with just about 200 shares only. But I am watching with high intent and interest.
@@FuzzyAason I am a share holder too. NIO has done some impressive jobs, but I am a little worried that they spend a lot of money in making things look good rather than “practical”. I read that in Q3, the total sales of New Energy cars in China by #s, NIO has only one car, es6 is in top 10 and it is like 7th or sth. Tesla model 3 is number 2 and 4-5 numbers of sales of NIO. NIO is definitely in “high end” market which is not the part that sales most. But maybe profitable if the sales continue to grow, let’s see.
@@FuzzyAason Also their PS (they don't have PE yet) is 19.7, meanwhile tesla P/S ratio is like 15 (with 17.46 all time high). I wouldn't call it undervalued, although it may get growth potentials

I see NIOs driving around all the time and they look great. Rapidly getting popular. I know a guy who works for them and he reports the company is full of smarts. I’m a buy and will invest imminently.

I just bought an ES6 - as you mentioned, when a product disrupts the market, it gets a lot of heat.
Disrupt how?
Battery swapping stations.
For early buyers of the cars, we get lifetime unlimited battery swaps (they take 3 minutes, by the way) meaning long distance driving is not an issue.
The network is ready between Shenzhen (furthest to the south in continental mainland China) and Beijing. It's also completed in radial shapes to reach east costal cities.
So, forget superchargers!
Forget 30 minute stops to wait for a full charge.
Just drive to the nearest swap station and keep going!
And of course, Nomi will plan out any stops for you according to your preference.
But to your question, I drove the car and... well, I bought it. So, it delivers in terms of performance. Crazy acceleration, reliable autopilot, unbelievable stopping power, and nimble handling for a car this size.
On a different note, it's very difficult to show on video the quality of manufacturing.
Panels match perfectly unlike some early model 3 cars.
Heated and cooled seats in prime leather, high quality plastic where needed, very responsive touchscreen, superb 12 speaker sound system with 11 surround sound modes, heated steering wheel that's also telescopic and adjusted with the touch of a button.
Face recognition identifies user and adjusts settings according to preferences.
The leather, the sealing of the doors, the... "Je ne said quoi" that you get when you sit it.
For context, I sold my 2018 Mercedes Benz CLA220 to get the NIO.
It's a far better proposition.
Like most breakthroughs, NIO learned from others and executed solutions.
For those concerned about financial reports, just remember two important factors: all companies go through a learning curve - their business model is volume, not high profit. This is the time to get brand loyalists, green-minded people who want an electric car but can't afford a Tesla (model 3 offers 8% rates while NIO offers ZERO!!!) and who feel nationalistic about the technological achievements of their brands - think Huawei phones.
Secondly, this is becoming a flagship company for the country, for the government. It's leading China to the forefront of technology with innovation in features and a business model that makes Tesla look stupid (battery swapping is a game changer)
Chinese government has an image to uphold and they'll do what they can to ensure it does not flop...
That's why I am not concerned about financials.
I liked most of what you said except the part about battery swapping and making Tesla look stupid. If you remember, Tesla introduced battery swapping way back in 2013 and had a trial supercharger station set up for it. Based on the data and numbers they received back, they decided to go with supercharging instead so it's not like they didn't think of it (they did battery swap in 90 seconds). Hell Tesla might even bring back battery swapping...they've got some battery recycling efforts going on at the Nevada gigafactory.

For whatever reason (mostly financially I guess), they abandoned the idea and now NIO has come up with a way to make it happen.
There is no point in comparing time spent at a supercharger to time spent during a battery swap.
I may have expressed myself incorrectly, but think of how a Tesla owner will feel when he's just plugged his car to a supercharger and sees a NIO driver pull into a swapping station.
The NIO guy will be gone before the Tesla guy has made it to the food court at the rest station.

Electric cars with "Green" license plate, unlike the standard odd-even number plates in China, can drive everyday of the week. This means Electric cars are not subject to the driving restriction, as a government incentive to promote the use of cleaner vehicles.
For the AI drive assistant, Tesla has all the architectural design in place. I sure hope this is one of the OTA update in 2019.
I like the recliner seat idea that will make driving Tesla brand that much more enjoyable especially during a long road trip.
Now Tesla will copy that.

very informative. The reason for the NIO club is very typically Chinese. It's not primarily about socializing or status. It's about guanxi - 关系 (relationships). This is all about building your guanxi network which is the basis of all business, opportunities and activity in China. I speak/read Chinese and know the culture well...Westerners simply don't understand how fundamentally important guanxi is to the way China functions. It's EVERYTHING. Everyone is striving for better opportunities and getting into a good circle of connections, as promised by an exclusive club like, this will be a huge motivator and driver of sales.

Super Clever, Nomi, the app, and the NIO house play brilliantly into the Chinese culture. My father in law is an early investor in Nio so we got a VIP tour when we visited China a year ago. At that point they were just starting early production on the ES8 so we did not get to drive one. Nio conceptually is way ahead of Tesla, and subcontracting the manufacturing has isolated them from the production hell issues, and the huge connected losses. I would guess they will start to turn a profit in early 2020, when they start selling their next model. Tesla has a great brand in China, but Nio is doing better executing almost always beating their guidance.
Is there studies on this? It doesn't really make sense to me random people will go somewhere random like this and chill. Why not just talk online?
(BTW I know this works, I'm actually working on a project regarding just this. But don't really have any empirical evidence to back it up)
KNO ever hung out at Starbucks? Imagine a more fancy place in the premium area of big city. Now add that city residents in China have fairly small homes, so they usually go out to meet friends, etc...
@@snitox they offer free kindergarten service for member's children , also provide some premium lifestyle course ( like yoga, cooking, tea tasing etc. Mostly the buyer are in their 30s or 40s, so huge incentive to use this service. Also, they build up a pretty good rewards system that attracts already NIO owner to bring in new guest

HyperChange, thank you for introducing me to NIO. Since I heard about it from you and looked into it myself, I bought the stock. It has risen over 50% in my portfolio in a very short period, and after this video I will buy more stock. NIO seems to have awesome products and a desierable brand. I will give this company more weight in my portfolio than Tesla.

as a owner of a model s and a es6... i actually prefer nio more...
it's just a beautiful car, i just love the look of it. They drive pretty much the same, I'm sure Tesla is ahead in autopilot but that's only if you are in the states where more function are available, in China it's the pretty much the same, also I don't autopilot much, only on highways.
one thing that nio definitely top Tesla beside ai assistance is the charging... the battery swipe stations are just amazing, able to recharge in 5 mins and it looks straight out of a sci-fi film. Also nio uses the China electric grid charge stations, they are just everywhere.. way more than Tesla supercharge stations. I actually find it more convenient than ICE cars.
I'm hold a significant position in nio, and have full confidence in its future... 10+ dollar sp is dirty comparing to what Tesla is at right now.

Super nice service. You can call them coming to your haus, drive your car out to charge or swapping battery, then drive back. 4. Permanent quality guarantee. Battery upgrade is possible, as long as there's new powerful battery comes out in the future. I couldn't find any other car company will do so, and these benifits won't be there forever.

lol theres Nomi and Nomi Mate. Nomi Mate is the tomb plate lol, luckily mine was the founders edition so it came with nomi. the nomi mate still has basics such as controlling functions of the car, but just that you can't chat with it.

This is the best report I have ever seen on CZcams; and I don't watch it much; but specially heard you covered NIO. Congrats! You got it right too! At ingerletter . com we initiated coverage a few days ago; along with deep assessment of the seed-money investors behind this. Incidentally we do not generally buy Chinese stocks; this is a first. And with so many 'early' Tesla investors behind it, and China being the world's largest auto market going forward, we have a long term low-risk approach to addressing it. I'm not encouraging anyone to subscribe (you can if you wish); but we'll be continuing to cover the stock's performance. Notice they listed on the NYSE not NASDAQ; that matters too. I spend hours delving into the SEC Filing's so understand who is in it; and who might be selling after lock-up and how to deal with that (at least my suggested strategy). And yes their battery technology will improve and evolve too.

I think this is Great - one of the most pivitall experiences I've had watching hyperchange. I think that China in 10 years will be ahead of the U.S. in many ways. And that is really exciting since China is bigger than the U.S. I love the assistant - as did my girlfriend. And that's enough to make it worth buying a Neo.
I've been in Shanghai for the past 8 months and I've spotted quite a few when I go to downtown. I didn't know what the company was until i talked to one of my best friends in Canada who told me he invested in this company. I did some more research about it and I really see they have very high potential. I saw articles about how they've done battery swapping stations instead of just charging stations and they've built them all across china and you could travel from shenzhen all the way to beijing (2k km). that's impressive! Can't wait to see this take off!

Looks like NIO is an innovation leader in this space and others, including Tesla, must respond to the calling. Looking forward to a first-hand look at the NIO store and vehicles myself next month during my trip to China!
By the way, as a blissfully happy Model S owner, my conviction in remaining loyal to the Tesla brand may be in jeopardy if Elon doesn't move with urgency close the apparent gap in features and price point with respect to like Tesla offerings.

@@HyperChangeTV Good question. If you want to highlight the growing use of electric transportation, China really is the place to be. Maybe you could cover the wide use of escooters, electric busses and electric cars in for example Shenzhen. A lot of cool stuff to visit there considering it is pretty much the tech hub of China. BYD actually has an ev production plant there.

Great video! Glad to see the inside of the showroom and what one of the "NIO" only bars look like. I just bought this stock yesterday around $10, if it goes down I will easily buy more, but I think we will see $20-30 soon. I also found the outsourcing to JAC for production sketchy but read that they are planning to build a production facility soon. ONLY thing I find a little risky now is how they outsource most of the parts/tech for the car so those outsourced companies could end up not providing the same quality parts or raise prices, but again I think an issue they will fix over the next 2 years. EVE model looks awesome too, I am in this stock for the looong run. Gonna make enough $$$ to buy a NIO

It makes me sad that we are pretty much just GIVING China the lead on EVs, while here in the US we focus on that CLEAN COAL. Sigh....... That green/blue license plate idea is a pretty neat little prestige point. I have to give kudos to China for choosing the path towards sustainability and working HARD.
China has built a large number of hydropower projects and nuclear power plants, which are the basis for the development of electric vehicles

Nio has fantastic marketing and, definitely, has features that the rest of the industry should take note. Love the heads up display and AI. Very interested to know more about their engineering. More than a bit concerned they are outsourced to a possibly government subsidized production factory. Do we have any performance specs and can those numbers be verified?
To be honest, the fact that they have outsourced to a government production factory is possibly more secure given the clear direction and mandate from the government on clean emission policy going forward. Egar to see a review on the drive and more info on technical specs etc
I think something like this will come from GENESIS sooner than later. The GENESIS G90 already includes many of the creature comforts of high end vehicles for a lot less money than traditional manufacturers. If Hyundai can make a capable long range EV using the technology already employed there or at KIA in GENESIS branded cars it could be enough to bring those seeking _'luxury'_ to their brand. Of course, I could be wrong, since I don't consider _'luxury'_ as a priority at all, while those who do tend to lean toward specific brands rather strongly. I have a buddy who got old while I wasn't paying attention and refused to even consider the notion. He says he is happy with his BMW, and repeatedly stated, _"I'm NOT buying a Hyundai!!!"_ in a very stubborn manner.
Outsourcing manufacturing is the way to go. Also, govt announced tax incentives for joint manufacturing. There is no need to involve in day to day manufacturing. Look at all the headaches Tesla goes thru because of it.
@@reocurringdream Two problems with outsourcing manufacturing. First: Demand must be very high since overall price will have to reflect second party profits. Second: There is a certain level of control over the product that is lost.
@@reocurringdream -- The headaches are worth it at Tesla and SpaceX. Doing things _'the hard way'_ results in innovation, which leads to improvement. Doing things the easy, proven, well traveled way...? Does not.

JAC builds great cars. You didn't mention they've already built many battery exchange locations along highways. Take just three minutes to load a newly charged battery. Faster than filling with gas. They are building a new factory next to Tesla and Li said they will be coming to the USA. I bought heavy in December. Buy all you can in my opinion. Smiles...
The concept is 3 min, but real world scenario with my car is about 4:30 to 5 min. Nio has also built lounges along side of the batter swap stations on highways, you can drink some coffee or talk to other nio owners to take a break from driving
Love the nome feature and the luxury aspects of the interior. Tesla could learn a lot from them.

Their electric mower "EGO" is one the highest rated elector mowers out there and their battery is flat out destroys every single competition when it comes to duration, charge time and reliability. EXPENSIVE though.

Great video! Exactly my thoughts when I visited the NIO store in Shanghai. Where Tesla is massively ahead though and what‘s hardest to copy is their advancement in self-driving technology. Elon stated in a recent interview with ark invested that Tesla now owns 99% of all autonomous driving data in the world. This will allow them to offer reliable fully fledged self-driving capabilities before anyone else. That‘s much harder to copy than it is for them to bring an assistant into their cars (which they should totally do!).
