Really high quality production! Probably one of the very best in that context within India. Some additional points (sorry for the English, I am not a Hindi speaker):
    1) Barrel aging is also dependent on the environment. Within the spirits world, there are two types of aging: Tropical and continental. Tropical aging means tropical climate (think about the Caribbean and those Central and South American countries). The heat and humidity increase the efficacy of the barrel, both in terms of colour and flavour. Additionally, it costs more to age in the tropics, with it being said that tropical aging is equal to double the time continental aging (here, it's for cooler, less humid climates). Which makes me go to point of:
    2) When it comes to Bacardi Black, it is NOT caramel. Rather it's a colouring called E150A, COMMONLY called 'Caramel colouring'. It's actually bitter when it comes to taste. A Guyanese rum company called Demerara Distillers Limited, used to put actual caramel into the barrel, though keeping in mind enthusiasts avoiding any additional sweeteners these days, they stopped doing that. Which brings me onto:
    3) A LOT OF RUMS ARE SWEET BECAUSE OF ADDED SUGAR (yes, the all-caps are deliberate). The source material actually doesn't give much sweetness. Distillation takes out all the sugar content. Any perceptible sweetness can come through aging, but a lot of it is straight up sugar.
    4) Keeping in mind the likely activities of pirates back then, they actually would've been consuming brandy (keeping in mind the value, quality and scarcity of brandy at the time, of which these things they'd loot). Rum was more likely consumed by Colonialist Navy sailors, with the officers and top brass consuming gin. It was given in a daily ration, with them eventually stopping it at various times.
    5) As someone who actually consumed a rum around the claimed age range of Old Monk (7 years), I am very sceptical of the age. There's no way it has been aged around, let alone a minimum of 7 years. India, with its climate, would actually be a tropical climate. As previously mentioned, tropical aging means more money. I do not believe for a moment that the cost makes sense. My guess is that this is a rum only aged up to 7 years, with it being mixed with neutral grain spirits, explaining the lack of complexity as well as spirit burn. That is the only way the cost makes sense. Lastly, there's definitely sugar added to it, keeping in mind the overwhelming sweetness. I'd love to hear your opinions on this.
    6) The colour classification is going away. These days, it is wiser to classify it through the raw material, type of distillation apparatus and/or profile of fermentation. But I have to applaud you for talking about the distinction between the raw material. They indeed cause the biggest differences in flavour profile.
    7) I'm so sorry that most Indians don't have access to Jamaican rum. It's truly an experience. One of the best things is that the rules mean that it has to be made without additives, with the exception of colouring and water. So they are dry, with an expression of rotten fruitiness as well as a surprising savoriness.
