    It’s hard to deliver value for money at a higher price point, but Mahindra managed to do exactly that when they launched the XUV500. In its updated avatar, the 2018 XUV500 continues to offer great bang for buck whether it’s a matter of equipment levels or performance. Over the years we've seen the XUV put up a good fight against everything from the Toyota Innova Crysta and Tata Hexa, to the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. However, it does come with its share of drawbacks as well. In this video, we’re going to take a look at the pros and cons of the 2018 XUV500 and tell you if it’s worth buying one.

    2018 Mahindra XUV500 Exterior:
    The Mahindra XUV500 has great road presence. The aggressively styled headlamps, chrome kissed front end, muscular side profile and cool new 18-inch wheels make the new XUV quite the attention commander! And let's not forget, with a length of over 4.5 metres, it has size on its side too.
    2018 New XUV500 Features:
    The XUV500 2018 is easily one of the most feature-loaded options for the money. Even the base XUV W5 for example, gets projector headlamps, all wheel disc brakes, power windows all round folding rear seats and music system with Bluetooth. Move just one variant up and you have a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, auto AC, cruise control and more. The higher variants add a sunroof, a powered driver seat and leather upholstery among other features.
    2018 XUV Engine:
    We’ve spent several kilometres driving the older XUV500 and never did we find it to be lacking in performance. In fact, the XUV has always been a good performer in the city and a very accomplished highway tourer. And now, it gets even more power and torque to quench any extra need for speed. The 2.2-litre unit now makes 155PS of power and 360Nm of torque.
    New XUV500 Prices Ex-Showroom Delhi
    W5 - Rs 12.39 lakh
    W7 - Rs 13.65 lakh
    W7 AT - Rs 14.85 lakh

    W9 AT - Rs 16.50 lakh
    W11 - Rs 16.50 lakh
    W11 AT - Rs 17.70 lakh

    W11 (O) AT - Rs 17.95 lakh
    W11 (O) AWD - Rs 17.85 lakh
    W11 (O) AWD AT - Rs 19.05 lakh
    G AT Petrol - Rs 15.50 lakh

      +Shivam Yaduvanshi All the SUVs are good options to go for and can handle the bad roads easily. As, you're eyeing on the base trim of all the cars, we would suggest you to pick between Hexa or XUV500 as they are better equipped as compared to Scorpio.

    Which one to buy for my family - innova crysta or xuv500?

    • @cardekho
      @cardekho  Před 4 lety

      +ASAD ALAM Both cars are of different segments and come in different price ranges too. The Toyota Innova Crysta carries on from where the older car left off - at the top. Toyota has made the MPV more stylish and more luxurious than ever before - and has gone all out with the engine and transmission options. The Innova Crysta caters to a whole new segment of buyers - those looking for a premium car which can seat 7/8 people but will not drain their wallets in the long run. If you are looking for a comfortable car for your big family and often travel on highways or go for long trips, you may go for Toyota Innova Crysta. On the other hand, the XUV500 has always been a trailblazer of sorts, practically creating a segment for itself. If you are on a budget and often tackle bad road conditions and looking for a capable stylist SUV for city and highways drives, you may go for Mahindra XUV500. Considering the price, the XUV500 still offers a lot of value. Do take a test drive in order to clear your all doubts.

    How is the ride quality in high speed? Does is remain flat or get floaty?

    • @cardekho
      @cardekho  Před 4 lety +1

      +Subrata Mukherjee The XUV has always been structured on a monocoque platform so it isn’t bogged down by as much body roll through the corners that most body-on-frame SUV like the Scorpio and the Safari face. There is no hint of wobble or nervousness while taking curves at speeds north of 70kmph. It’s agile for its size, but while its steering is fairly accurate, it doesn’t provide great feel. The top-spec W11 variant we drove gets the optional 18-inch alloy wheels with tyre profiles reduced from 235/65 to 235/60. The usual 17-inch wheels will still be available as standard. The ride on the bigger wheels felt sporty but not stiff at any point. That said, the tendency of the XUV’s back end to feel bouncy over sharp bumps still remains.

    Does it have ride comfort as good as Innova and Hexa on a long drive for front and middle seats. I am asking this question because in some comments in Car reviews I saw people saying that it will break your back if you travel in XUV500 for 500 km at a stretch. Please do reply I am in planning to buy and have to decide Hexa or XUV. My most use is in City some on highway and bit of offroading.

    • @cardekho
      @cardekho  Před 5 lety +2

      +avinash singh In our opinion, the XUV500 W7 offers the most value, combining a great blend of features at a competitive price. If it's the petrol XUV500 you are looking at, there's only the G AT to choose from. Interestingly, the claimed efficiency for both petrol and diesel variants is the same so it may not pinch your wallet much. So those with very less running can pick the G AT variant.

    • @cardekho
      @cardekho  Před 6 lety

      +Prateek Choudhary Both the cars stand apart in their own way.
      The XUV500 facelift’s W11 variant gets all the bells and whistles. If you need an extra row for last minute attendees then XUV500 will get the job done. Also, AWD with its go-anywhere attitude will make sure that it will tackle the bad roads without a fuss.
      Moreover, there are some WANT-based feature in XUV500 like Seat Lumbar Support, Cruise Control, Side Airbag Front, Follow Me Home Headlamps, Rear Camera, Hill Assist, Electric Adjustable Seats (Front), Rain Sensing Wiper etc.
      On the flip side, you get to own a Jeep badge in your garage with tons of Snob value. It offers Uconnect 7.0 featuring a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support along with controls for the dual-zone climate control system (with activated carbon filter). Also offered are projector headlamps and black roof rails. In our books, the Longitude (O) is the Compass to go for if you want this SUV.
      You can also compare feature list difference of both the cars via our comparison tool. It will help you in decision making. Here's the link: bit.ly/2Eg65jR
