This is one of the first films I ever saw - I was probably 5 at the time and I loved it! Wish I could get hold of a copy of it now...

I think someone made a mistake in the credits, The Examiner in this scene is Allan Cuthbertson, Who died in 1988 and was in the Fawlty Towers Episode, Gourmet Night.

It's a Bentley, but definitely no blower. (It was a very visible feature when fitted!)

I agree; the blower should significantly protude from the lower part of the grill. Might explain why he only paid 500 pounds for the car in 1963.

@M90EMC If I remember right, the terrified examiner failed him. But James Robertson Justice's character promised to step in and see he got his licence.

It just goes to prove that you don't need big explosions and special effects to make a really good film.
Can we turn the clocks back, please?

THe car is not a Bentley S Continental, but a very rare Bentley R-type Continental, of which only two were built as a Drop Head Coupe by Park Ward in 1954 and 1955

Looked carefully & could see that the robbers MkVII Jag wasn't in brilliant shape so it's roll at the end was inevitable. Mind you that & the "Fast Lady" were both prominent racing cars in their time.

Old-fashioned but good. Starring Scotland's transvestite-in-chief Stanley Baxter and Leslie Phillips, these days betterknown as the Sorting Hat ("Gryffindor" has replaced "Hello" as his catchphrase as far as I'm concerned). This is the only thing I've seen Danny Green in other than The Ladykillers. I've a feeling Clive Dunn says "Don't panic" when he jumps out the window. Mr Dunn looks like that nowadays except nowadays it's not makeup. Doesn't Bernard Cribbens look young?

Zany car chase sequence. Before the health and safety nannies and before the era of political correctness
