I still remember when they turned the letters. The very last thing that was on the triangles was "For Sale." Vanna turned them before they retired that board before they went digital. When you were on the show, did you have to buy the prizes?
The tour behind the scenes is very interesting. I always knew that there was something going on, but I'd never seen some of the elements that Maggie and Pat showed the viewers. I like how the contestants see the category and the letters that have been called as well as the number of each letter on that screen depending on the puzzle. I always find it interesting and humorous that Pat called those devices for the toss-ups "buzz-in things." Alex Trebek always called those things "signaling devices" on Jeopardy! I call those things signaling devices. Maggie and Pat did such a great job with the tour. I can see why Wheel of Fortune has been very popular for decades. Wheel and its sister show, Jeopardy!, have been my favorite early evening programs for years.
I’d enjoy lots more content like this! I never get tired of behind the scenes stuff. A whole episode about what happens behind the puzzle board would be awesome!
Always wondered what contestants were looking at off over to one side. Now I know! I could tell Pat was looking at some type of monitor for # of letters.

Up Close to the set and the Camera Quality really captures the imperfections of the scenery! 😲🤯 When the Camera is far away, and I presume it's a more *higher definition camera* being used there for shows instead of this one for the sneak peak tour, it looks clean, with no imperfections, almost "too clean".... But that's the magic of cinematography and camera quality being able to capture the same environment *under a different lens.* 🧐
Is it possible for the people at home to see the “used letter board”? Ages ago, that was available to us and it helped us to participate at home. Thank you for the tour, that was great.
We love Pat and Vanna and the Wheel of Fortune! Our family has been a Wheel Watcher for many many years. I can remember the wheel of prizes that would spin around to reveal all kinds of things for the contestants to choose from! I often wondered if anyone ever picked the statue of the dog for a prize? Spin on Pat and Vanna! PS: I even share my birthday with Vanna on February 18th!

Love the show and have been a Wheelwatcher since 1996. One concern I have is that when a wheelwatcher number gets called for the $10,000 or other contests I wonder how many times the number called belongs to someone who may have passed away or is no longer watching WOF? I think it would be a good idea to have everyone register at least annually to insure that the Wheelwatcher's numbers are still valid and active!

So, on the used letter monitor, what's that number in the blue oval? Is that the timer? Because in the NEW BABY BUGGY episode it used to be a red digital readout below the monitor.

IMHO Maggie will take over the hosting of the show when Pat retires. Its been said that Vanna will work on for a while though.......They both did great while Pat was out recovering from his illness a couple of years ago....

Yes, they were shown to all before taping began and then you just chose them off of a list. They were listed by value high to low.

So that's how he knows how many letters are in the puzzle. He's looking at the monitor in the back. 39 years he's finally revealing the secrets.
I always thought he has the puzzle solution on his card and whatever letter is on the card equals how many their are like, "A=3" for 3 letter A's.

I truly enjoyed the behind the scenes of Wheel of Fortune. I never knew there was so many more than what we seen on the television.
I always thought that was what that little card that Pat was holding had the puzzle on it.
