  • Hot Wheels Redline 1968 Original 16 Models - Video No.135 - July 29th, 2016
    When it comes to Redline Hot Wheels nothing is more popular than the “Original 16” models for the 1968 model year. Frequently guys will call me up and ask how much a set costs and that is a difficult question to answer. Several years ago I sat down and calculated the most expensive set I could think of and realized that you can easily spend over $30,000 for the best and rarest models to fill out a set of 16 first year cars. On the other hand if you have an eye for value, and access to many places to get Redline Hot Wheels it is possible to put a set together for around $300. Of course you can’t be too picky about condition at that price. This set is the first set I have put together for a customer at his request and I did it for him because it is going to be displayed in a museum. Usually it is just too hard to match up 16 unless you really put your mind to it and put in lot of time at it. This set is valued at around $1,400. Thanks for watching and be sure to give me thumbs up and subscribe too. I thank you so much for your time! www.ToyCarCollector.com --- Music Credit: Dispersion Relation by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (creativecommons.org/licenses/...)

    I didnt know anything about cars so I had no idea which one to get and i stood there brainlocked unable to decide. Finally my parents said we were leaving and i grabbed a Cougar, probably the least cool car of the bunch (which this video doesnt even call out).

    • @toycarcollector
      @toycarcollector  Před 6 lety

      These are 1968 mode year cars so it does not matter when they were made they will always be 68's. There are however some variations to some of the cars that make them earlier produced than others. I can''t tell you exactly what the are as I have not committed that information to memory. For instance the Custom Mustang earlier models have body color tail panels and later ones have flat black tail panels. There are guys out that that keep detailed information about early models and how they changed.

    • @hotwheelsbob2000
      @hotwheelsbob2000 Před rokem

      There are first run details on many of the 16, but they were left off in later runs that were still made in 1968. Many of the original 16 were made in 1969 also, and some made until 1971. But there is no real way to tell which year they were built because changes were whenever they were made, not by year. There were also late changes, such as added doorlines, louvered windows on the Mustang, etc.

    I think Hot Wheels should make early muscle cars, and cars made in 50's on up to today's cars, not these cars you don't see on the road.I just love Hot Wheels cars they need to make them the way they use to.

      There are some nice models being made but they are hard to find. If you check out on CZcams "hot wheels 2024 Case A" and on down through the alphabet you will find that hot wheels come out in "mixes" that change every 3 weeks or something like that. Then once you see what comes in a mix you will know what to look for at the store.

    Hot wheels need to make Hot Wheels cars they use to. Put the old Hot Wheels up against the ones made to day and the older ones will beat the newer ones made today.

    I HAVE (2) BEATNICK BANDITS, IN DIFFERENT COLORS. ONE IS BLUE AND ONE IS LIKE A TRANSPARENT TURQUOISE BLUE. WITH WHITE INTERIORS. ANY VALUE?

    • @hotwheelsbob2000
      @hotwheelsbob2000 Před rokem

      Condition is everything. Beatnik Bandits were made in huge amounts, and they are not the most popular. A beater that needs rebuilt will be lucky to get $5. One with just a couple chips, clear glass, and rolling but not perfect wheels, maybe $25-30.

    I've got about 200 original Matchbox and Hotwheels. Where would I sell besides eBay

      Best bet is Ebay. Sell them individually to get the most money. Check completed sales to get an idea of beginning price. I've been selling and buying on Ebay for over 20 years.
