I use an EQ on bass for "solos". Things like the ending to The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. Sometimes as a clean boost, sometimes boosting low mids. I tried various OD pedals (none are bass pedals as.I'm basicall u a.guitarist) and most are anemic on bass.

I’ve tried them all over the years. I didn’t keep them around for long. Not sure why i think they were a bit noisy even with my noise suppressor.
