Instead of saying ‘would you go any lower’ try saying ‘can you do x amount’. You’ll have more success because you’re telling the seller what they’re worth to you. They’ve already told you their price and sellers don’t know how to react to your question other than to say no. Nice find on the predators, especially if the elastics haven’t rotted away!

Also instead of haggling for a dollar or two, either pay their price or the item doesn't fit your metrics. It's a waste of time to haggle when you could go to more vendors or just see all the vendors at the car boot quicker. You never know if haggling for a dollar or two will make you miss an item at the next vendor. I've gotten contacts that reliably and continually sell me things because they know I'll pay their price and not gouge them on price.

You’re unlikely to get someone down to £2 from £5 anyway on a single item but worth saying, ‘I can do £3’ when they tell you the price is £5 and then stay totally quiet. I bet worst case you’ll pay £4 and get a £1 off but in my experience you’ll get a lot of ‘go on then’ responses.
@@Frankiehutchings-that logic is kinda backwards and very inconsiderate. If seller has knocked item down for you then that is the deal you don't need to further knock them down. Yeah they can say no or whatever but they shouldn't be harassed that way. Consider what they paided for the item you are reselling and tey not to come off so desperate.
