For more than four decades, the MXR Phase 90 has been a mainstay on the pedal boards of millions of players around the globe. This little orange box went on to become the sole icon of its effect category, and countless legendary riffs have benefitted from the sonic qualities of this pedal. No matter the genre or instrument, the Phase 90 has been there through it all to add its distinctly lush voice to a musician's tone palette. With the twist of the Rate knob, you can take the Phase 90's warm modulation from subtle, spatial shimmer to all-out high velocity swooshing.

Very helpful video! Thanks!
You are a awesome player, and you do a great job with demoing gear. Thanks and keep up the good work!!
pretty thorough work thank you
I've had the 100 for some time and love it. The only other one that caught my attention was the Seymour Duncan Polaron.
I subscribed after your introduction solo melted my face off lol. Your guitar playing is phenomenal. You have the best comparison video on these MXR phasers too. I'm thinking of going with the script or P-95. It seems like the P-95 you get the script, block, and 45 univibe sound all in one pedal. Thanks for the video!
After owning all 4, this is my takeaway: the 95 isn't the 'be all end all' phaser some make it out to be. It's the only option if you prefer the 45 sound and need modern features, but the 90 settings sound noticeably less rich a bit artificial compared to the bigger versions. Still a cool (convenient) pedal, but there's definitely still a place for its bigger counterparts
For the money, the Phase 95 is hard to beat :)
I want to try them all. But the MXR EVH Frankenstrat one is a holy grail for me.
Great job, very helpful..tyvm 😁👍
I just picked up a Phase 90 block logo for 50 bux off reverb yesterday. Very cool pedal. Sounds great with my 5150 EVH overdrive pedal.
18:35 was absolutely unnecessary. I love it.
Turning them all on at the same time was awesome.
Thanks for the awesome demo. I have a BOSS PH-3 and it's way too much phaser for me. Gonna swap it out.
Love the Block Logo Phase 90. Bold and up front.
MXR Phase 45 is my favorite. And the PT999 ibanez ca. 1976 is a shining star among phasers.
haha this guys starting to rival proguitarshop andy! im really loving these videos!
Plain Script is my favourite ! That’s the one on my board
The Phase 100 is all over late 70s period Thin Lizzy albums. Specifically, Bad Reputation, Live and Dangerous, and Black Rose.
Dagan review the fender champion 100 its a great amp!!
Hi. Is the Phase 100 similar in sound to the Phase 90 ? Is the Script Logo more versatile than the Block ? Does the Script Logo have a more Vintage sound ? Thanks
Phase 100 is different to the 90 as it has more stages.
The script is no more versatile than the block, as they both have one knob and no it does not have a more vintage sound as phasers of that time were capable of subtler & more intense effects, the two Phase 90's just have a slightly different tone to each other & slightly better in different situations, that's it. If you're looking for a 'vintage' sound, look at Uni-Vibes as it pre-dates phaser pedals.
The Script is more transparent, and to that end more useful
So transparent you can't even see it
Can you demo the boss acoustic simulator against other guitar simulators
Seriously, they all sound good!
Anyone else more interested in whether you can buy that guitar than the phaser?
That’s what I prefer on bass.
For the eruption thing to my ears the script was spot on
Those smaller pedals are great for smaller boards. And still sound great..
Does pedal have the ability when youre in the phase 45 mode to do the Script as well as Block ?
Yes
Seriously though, are the phasers connected before or after distortion for this demo?
Before. He's using the amps drive channel and going guitar>phaser(s)>amp.
I have the hand wired custom shop ‘74 script Phase 90 (CSP-026), the one without the LED. It’s noisy, the bypass isn’t that great, it drops the volume a bit when it’s on, and it’s battery only. In other words, it’s a perfect recreation of the original, warts and all.
Supposedly, the script one with the LED is actually just the EVH version with the script button engaged.
Now I understand my 95! 😂
Note: when using phase 90 with overdrive (distortion) pedals sounds best first in the chain...
In your opinion.
Script 90 is my fave
Ok so this my verdict:
1. Phase 90 (script)
2. Phase 95
3. Phase 90 block
4. Phase 100
The script 90 is the clear Winnerbäck for me. It sounds warmer, tigger and lets you hear more of the guitar tonality than the effect itself. It also sounds more vintage.
The 95 is killer but for me. Regular block letter all the way!
Personally like the script
Which one would get me a eddie sounds script or block?
Get the EVH phase 90 and you get both.
Block logo was too aggressive. Clip one end of one of the resistors in there (R28) and it gets more subtle. Still prefer the script I have though. BUT the block will do the vibe thing with a little more pronounced girth.
Script logo phase 90 is the way to go...
I have the Phase 95 and I use it on 90 Script. I'm 75 and bought a 90 when it just came out and used it for years. The difference between the 95 and the original is imperceptible in a band. Take a friend to switch them and compare for yourself in your own test.
Script 90
Always trust Dagan.
script mxr phase 90 sounds the best, warm and without the weird mid range bump
:)
the Dunlop guys are a bunch of alcoholics and all around dirtbags, but their tech guys have designed some great pedals, while jimmy and the front office people live it up
I've had the 100 for some time and love it. The only other one that caught my attention was the Seymour Duncan Polaron.
