    Excellent show ladies. Layne - you have best, thoughtful, relevant questions and Lisa you’d have best, most knowledgeable and doable answers!

    Just as I was gazing at my 100% germinated TGW Procut Sunflower babies here in my grow room, there you are! I was wondering the exact thing about when to plant these out here in zone 7b SC. They are approx 1.5 inches tall now. I have a feeling that they are wanting to bust out and up sooner than I think. I'm not usually a risk taker, however, I completely trust your methods and even your hunches. We're in it together so.... WHY NOT!? Thanks sweet ladies.... xoxoxoxo

    We had a very cold spring last year..I transplanted out from plug trays in early April...and hoop covered in a high raised bed.. they were some of my favorite sunflowers! I paired them with blue canturberry bells fall planted.. Friends and family couldn't believe they lasted so long and looked better then store bought. I am so thankful for your video ladies! You brighten up many lives🌻🌻

    Seed Talk is a great, informative, and valuable series of videos. What soil/soil-less mix does Lisa use in her cell trays for growing sunflowers? Is it the same as her soil-blocking mix? Thanks, Michael.

    How big does the heads get normally?

    • @LayneAngeloTGW
      @LayneAngeloTGW Před rokem

      So happy you are enjoying "Seed Talk", Louise! ☺ Normally, 6" spacing for sunflowers yields around 4" heads, which is a great size for bouquets. 12" spacing results in larger heads. As we mentioned in the video, the heads of these early sunflowers tend to be smaller. Thanks so much for watching, and have a wonderful day! 🤗

    I found a inch tall Zinnia seedling in my garden as a 5 inch snowfall was melting. It was a wet snow 35° and it melted in one day. We did have several warm days in Feb(one day was 76°). I just thought this was interesting. I will be watching this seedling closely. Our last frost date is March 15 so it should be good. I wonder if flower breeders also try to breed in cold hardiness.

    Have you ever used a heating coil on the soil down the center of a covered row in the event of a sudden cold spell?

    • @LayneAngeloTGW
      @LayneAngeloTGW Před rokem

      Hello! Lisa said she has never used heating coils in her low tunnels. She knows some growers that use them within hoop or greenhouse structures, but she has not personally heard of anyone using them out in the garden. Thanks so much for watching, and have a great evening! 🤗
