This deserves wayyyy more views
That is exactly what I was thinking! How does this not have more views or likes...? I'm going to share!
Thank you both very much!
I thought this would be somewhat of a spoof, but I stayed and watched the entire thing. Detailed, good layout speech tempo. Nailed it
Thank you sir. I did one of these on the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor too but I wasn't as happy with how that one turned out. I think I'm out of the Doug Scoring business. Thanks for watching!
Couldn’t get him to do so you did it yourself! Love it
Really well done; I watch Doug all the time and this review is spot on
Thank you so much for watching, I am a big fan of Doug myself and I'll never do too many of these videos BUT I have another "DougScore" video coming next week on a car he would probably never do. Stay tuned
I love this car! The only thing I would mention for long term ownership is maintenance. Can be special/expensive, unless you do the work yourself. 👍🏼 But it’s worth it…it will last forever!
You can also fold the backseat bottoms forward to create even more space. The backs will then fold flat
wagons are the best 50mpg, sleep in the back, roof rack, great for traveling
try 38 to 40 mpg for this vehicle.
@@aaron___6014 my mk4 BEW does almost 45mpg, I have an alh sedan that will hit 50+ mpg all day everyday, the newer mk5 jetta are about 40, they are tuned for power not fuel economy, but you could chip them and get better I'm sure
@@aaron___6014 there a special tune you get more power and better economy 50+ mpg
@@brandonnunez3644 who sells it? There is no tune that'll give you 8-10mpg.
I loveit sportwagon.
Absolutely love and appreciate this review as well as all the positive comments. Currently looking at these for my next vehicle. My kids are still small and i prefer the cargo space and mpg over 3rd row seat siv with no cargo space. Test drove a '12 and '13 a few days ago. Time of my life for such short drive. Plus i make long trips so the cargo and mpg has got me wrapped around this awesome wagon. Thank you so much. Definitely going after this now.
how did the vw tdi turn out?
Great job!! I just bought one of these and this is a spot review
Thank you Steve!
Mine is just like yours, but a 2014. I love it, haven't even driven my Avalon once since the day I bought it in January.
I have a 2013 as well with the TDI with the 6 speed manual transmission I love it it does have the fix and you can't beat that warranty!!
Have you had any issues with it? I'm thinking of getting one!
Awesome, was looking at a 2011 brown one at my job today and loved it.
Just bought a CPO 14 JSW TDI for my daughter and a 13 JSW TDI for myself. Great value and really great driving cars. Great video!
Cool! I hope you and your daughter enjoy your cars. Thank you for watching!
OH MY GOODNESS THANK YOU!!!!! My wife and I take delivery of a 2014 tdi SEL Premium Passat sedan on Monday, the 6th, and I just verified we will be the first owners since the emissions modification and we should certainly be covered by the warranty! I would have never known if it weren't for you and this video!!!!!!! You have totally made my life better!
My pleasure glad to be of service! You should be getting a booklet with the car detailing your warranty from VW as well. Thanks for watching!
If you were a safe driver and followed the manufacturer's instructions you would know why VW leaves the DRL lit. It is a reminder that you did not set the emergency break as reccommended. When you set the emergency break and accidentally leave the lights on they will all go off. Very good video!
Great review.
I've got one coming from Carvana next week. Can't wait!
How has yours been so far? Mine comes in about a week.
Loved your commentary throughout the vid. Very informative and punctual. Heavily considering a TDI VW.
Thank you very much!
Right
Great video, thanks. I owned a 91 Passat wagon in the late 90s and really enjoyed the experience, but my latest purchase of a 2009 Wagon for $650 Canadian has proven to be a super buy. and the handling as well as the features has me blown away! I’m a back-yard mechanic/body man and will have this car working and looking tip top shape soon time! My only disappoint is not having the moon roof or the TDI :( The 2.5L still beats the crap out of my retired Saturn ION and feel the difference between quality & crud! Oh! The 6-speed dual automatic is the best working transmission I’ve ever driven; so smooth on shifting & only 260k kms.
Yay VW
Picking up my 2013 model tomorrow. Looking forward to using this for my running around and even some road trips.
I bought my'14 a year ago and still love it. Now when I tell people who don't know what a sportwagen TDI is, I can just reference this killer "Doug review"!
Thank you for watching!
Your review it's like a PRO review! Please, make more bro!
Really thanks!
Thank you for watching! I'm working on it, can't just DougScore every car though lol not trying to totally rip the guy off. The only other one I ever did was on a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, which hasn't been anywhere near as popular as this one. czcams.com/video/xrX6lY8BKm4/video.html
Absolutely fantastic video! Love Doug’s videos and this is right up there. I’m in the market for one of these and I was thinking ‘I wish Doug reviewed one of theses’ and this is just as good. 👍
Thank you very much Ian!
I have a 2014 and I love it. Thanks for the awesome review "Doug"!
Glad you liked it!
I also own a 2014 Sportwagen. 90K on the odo. 38 mpg around town. Lots of cargo space. Just put new tires on it, new high quality brakes and rotors all around, and replaced the rear sunroof drain tubes. Pano, sat radio, and Navi. My keeper for a long time, I hope.
I just discovered such gem of a channel , u deserved more subscribers
Thank you Max!
LOL great video, bought me the same car love it!
I have a 2012 2.0 liter TDI. It's as excellent as you say. But, yeah, the panoramic moon/sun roof is a problem. The track warps. The seals leak. And, for extra fun, when the seal leaks, water ends up in your spare wheel well.
My 2012 has a 6speed manual, and I absolutely love it. Great sound system, push button start, leather, pano roof, navi...can't beat the deal especially considering excellent mpg... I reccomend this car to anyone. I wish it was an AWD.
Very nice!
I really appreciate and enjoyed this video. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you very much for watching!
Awesome thanks good job ,we just purchased 2014 Jetta TDI sport wagon
I freaking love these cars. I'm buying one very shortly.
You won't regret it! Buy it soon though, I've heard the supply of cars VW bought back and fixed (and then subsequently send to auction) is running out. After that it will be tougher to find one.
Excellent work and you have a great radio voice too.
Thank you sir!
Thanks for so much fun and information!!! You did great 👍🏻
Thank you Daniel!
Great video very detailed! I didn't know about the rear wipers having the 2 speed options. Not sure if you know or ever noticed but if you put the windshield wipers on the low settings, the speed of the wipers slow down when you come to a stop, then speed back up to "low speed" when you accelerate, nice feature as well. Its an awesome car. I have one myself, I absolutely love it. I've had one major issue other then regular wear and tear maintenance and that was the diesel particulate filter needed to be replaced at roughly 145,000km (90,100 miles). Volkswagen paid for the entire dpf and I even got a loaner car for free! bought my golf wagon at 110,000km (68,350 miles) it now has 170,000km (105633 miles) and the only issue I have had is the dpf needing to be replaced. fun and strong little car. However for whatever reason here in Canada, I have a 2014 Volkswagen golf wagon tdi and not a Jetta sportwagen. I'm curious as to why they changed the name for them over here. mines a comfort line with the 6 speed manual no moon roof, no touchscreen. it also doesn't have to 115v plug in the backseat.. happy to see it got atleast half way to a hundred on the Doug score lol
Hello from France 🇫🇷 !
I bought a 2009 1.6 TDI JETTA and I loved it.
Unfortunately I had an accident because of rear tires and had to buy another car, a 2018 Golf SportWagen with a similar TDI engine, 5-speed manual too. I prefer the rear passenger roommate on the Jetta and the cruise control too, very easy to use. Nice video, nice guy, thank you very much and a long life to your Jetta SportWagen to enjoy her ! 🍀🍀🍀👍💫
Merci d'avoir regardé!
Great vid! I own a 2011 model, 6 speed manual, bought new by my father. Took it over from him four years ago and now has 175.000km on it. No mayor malfunctions so far. My VW has automatic headlights (maybe something only available in Europe?) Fun fact: in Belgium it's not called Jetta Wagon but Golf Variant!
Yes for some reason the Euro models got automatic headlights! I wish mine had that, it's the little things in life that make you happy. Glad to hear your Golf is going well!
Just got a 2013 JSW TDI myself! Love the Doug style video haha
I hope you love your car!
I currently have a 2018 Tacoma 6 mt. Im looking for MPG, this seems to be the go to. With a manual of course.
Thx for the review, I spent months trying to find a replacement for my old Outback and bought a '12 Sportwagen TDI within a few days of watching your review. I got the sunroof with 17" wheel pkg as well and after test driving the 16" model, these definitely have improved handling and tracking. Sunroof has a vent feature by pushing up on the back edge of the control dial.
Drove 530 miles on a single tank from Tampa to Alpharetta @39 mp...YES
That's awesome Scott, I hope you love your TDI SportWagen and it gives you many years of great service! Thanks for watching!
Exactly what happened to me. Sold the 04 outback n get a 13 6speed TDI wagen
Excellent review! This weekend, I am going out to look for one of these, a 2013 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I can find them for around $8,000 to $10,000 with 30k-50k miles on them. Here's hoping I find the one!
Thank you so much for watching, I hope you find a nice one!
@@CarDietrich hey man, just a follow up. I bought a 2014 Jetta TDI Sportwagen a few days ago. I am really enjoying the car so far! It's blue metallic with the tan interior, and has the sunroof. Really nice car for the money, and the warranty is really good with the diesel gate stuff.
@@TimmyHD How much did you get it for?
I bought a 2011 TDI 30k miles with all the options and pano sunroof last summer for 10.5k with the extended dealer warranty. Loving it so far. In my first year with mixed driving I am averaging 37.4 mpg. I can get about 45-47 mpg on the highway if I keep it at 65mph
I'm tired or renting a SUV when I need to pick up something that is oversized. I will buy one of these thanks to your detailed review!
Thank you so much for watching! I still have that car and recently took it on a long drive up the mountains, it's very fun to drive for such a practical car
Picked up a 2014 jaw tdi 6m cpo with 16,400 miles. $14,200. Moonroof, 17" wheels. Perfect body. This thing is a beast. Drove it for the first time in some deep snow/slush...The 3 season Continental's are horrible. Picked up a set of Blizzaks with steelies from Tirerack...OMG! It's a different winter ride. Feels like awd.. Highly recommend these for winter driving.
Great job on the video Sir! Thank you for doing this review on a car that I absolutely love. Wish I could buy a few more and tuck them away.
Thank you so much for watching! Congrats on your TDI, and good job scoring one with such low miles!
Great job. Never have seen Doug's reviews. I'm impressed. I also purchased the same car with no sunroof. Had a 96 b4 tdi before. Love this car.
Check out Doug's stuff he's way better than me. Thanks for watching!
The average consumption feature can be reset at any time and as many times as you’d like by holding down the OK button on the steering wheel. It can be done for both counts, #1 and #2. There are a number of other customizable features available which can be turned on and off at will.
This video has been a huge help to me, considering I'm dealing on a 2014 Jetta tdi (wagon) as we speak. Very informative 👍
Thank you so much for watching! I hope you love your TDI if you get one
@@CarDietrich I'm here in Alberta, Canada and there are a lot to choose from, and at reasonable prices👍
You'll appreciate the heated seats in winter time!
Great video! Exactly like Doug’s videos. I love my 2011 Sportwagen TDI
Thank you for watching! I won't do these too often but I have another DougScore video coming next week
My dad had a Mk5 but its was a Golf also in Blue it was a 1.4 Tsi with 160hp and we baught it with 30k km and drove 30km we had the car 6 years god damn i loved this car its a part of my Childhood so many good memories
I just bought a 2012 one, thanks for the info about the warranty on the engine and emissions system.
I have a 2013 and I really like. Great review and I agree with all your points.
Thank you for watching :) Enjoy your TDI!
Great job bud. 👏 I love my torque Queen 😀
The torque is real with these! Thank you for watching!
Just finished the intake flapper, egr and dpf delete with tune on mine. I've been getting 48 mpg avg with highway and country road commutes. Love my tdi.
I have a 2014 TDI wagon and love the spirited handling...plus in the video he didn't pull up the rear seat bench before folding down the backs....this creates a flat cavernous rear hauling area...I drove it today 60 miles 50% highway....averaged 39 mpg....loves to cruise between 45 and 55 mph on long back road trips .... 50 mpg...straight highway at 70 mph is 44 mpg...fickle exhaust system...good integrated navigation system started witn 2014 models...loves to hug curves....spirited acceleration from 55 to 90 mph with down shifting that tip tronic tranni.......picked mine up for 9k.....dealer upgraded software so i got that 48k warranty ..now if the price of diesel would behave!!!
I have have driven / owned many cars over the years. I own a 2013 Jetta Sportswagen TDI. I got it 3 yrs ago in Knoxville, TN for $8,000 with 73,000 miles. This is by far the best car I have ever owned / driven! I even like it better than my Friend's Mercedes! It's cheap to maintain / drive and can go 600 mi on 14 gallons from Full to flat Empty! Drives Excellent! I highly recommend this vehicle!
Love the video.
Btw:
2013 Jetta SportWagen cargo capacity: 32.8 cubic feet
2014 CR-V cargo capacity: 37.2 cubic feet
2014 RAV-4 cargo capacity: 38.4 cubic feet
Thanks for watching!
I thoroughly enjoyed your review. I drive a 2016 VW Touareg TDI. I just hit 55k miles. I don’t like the panoramic roof, it gets really hot in the summer and chilly in the winter. They could have done a better job with the mesh
This was a great review. Thank you
Thank you so much for watching!
15:55 The hesitation in moving away from a stop may be the “hill-hold” feature, which as I understand it is supposed to hold the car in place for a second or two after you take your foot off the brake pedal to make driving on hills easier. I bought a 2013 Passat TDI a couple of months ago, and find the hill-hold to be somewhere in between noticeable and intrusive. I believe it can be disabled via VCDS or OBDEleven. Nice video, BTW.
You can reset any of the mpg tripmeters at your will, anytime. There are also other mpg and speed screen features which you can activate or deactivate at your will.
GREAT JOB REALLY PRO AND INFORMATIVE, now finally in 2020 i know how to use my 2011 vw finally
Thank you for watching!

Thank you Chadd I appreciate that!
this is an awesome video idea
I'd rather have a Passat TDI wagon with a Manual. My dream TDI. Really enjoyed the video
FANTASTIC!
Great review! I’m looking into a Golf TDI myself hopefully with a manual if I can find one.
Thank you for watching! Good luck in your search, they didn't make as many manuals but there should be a good one out there for you!
Excellent review, really appreciate the in depth strait forward review. Any update on ownership, still running strong?
Sold it last summer, it had 74,000 miles on it. Never did have any issues with it.
I have watched a few of Mr. Demuro's videos, and I would say not to apologize that you think the quality of your video is below that of Mr. Demuro's . You did a good job and I enjoyed watching it. I have an older Mark IV jetta, diesel, that I too love driving. Although not as powerful as the current line of TDIs the only power train problem we have had in over 15 years of ownership is a leaking fuel pump.
Thank you so much for watching! Those 1.9 TDIs are pretty bullet proof
Great review!
Thank you for watching Matthew!
Please keep reviewing relatively normal cars, this is fantastic. Let me know if your on southern Oregon, il have some loaners for you.
Dude, you did a fine job. I really enjoyed your video. I have a 2013 fully loaded KERMA massaged and also a 2015 sport wagon TDI.
I like the MK7 but my favorite is the 2013 which is a beast. The 2015 is more refined and more comfy.
You may want to know that the front brakes are straight out of the Golf GTI, bigger brakes than the gasoline powered cars. Also, the rear sway bar from the GTI fits perfect and really transforms the ride. KERMA TDI is an awesome upgrade.
I disagree about the fun factor grade. It is actually a nice car to drive
By the way, this car is far superior to any Sentra, Prius and other economy car out there. The quality of materials is better, the brakes and suspension light years ahead and the looks......let’s face it, for a wagon, this thing is very pretty.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the tips! As far as the fun factor I was trying to match it up as closely as I could to what I think Doug would give it. You gotta remember that guy drives Ferraris and Porsches and everything else, and the Fun Factor is like if you could pick any car to drive on the weekend, would you pick this one?
Just found this. Too lazy to sort through 338 comments but curious if Doug ever responded? He should. Well done and thanks for the great and honest review!
Doug never did respond to this video, but back in the day when I had a twitter I sent him a message and asked him what lavalier mic he uses for his videosand he did answer my question. He is a nice guy.
Great review
This is hilarious 😂, this video earned a like, that stash earned the sub 👍😎
Thank you sir! There is power in the 'stash...
Great review thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Word of caution: make sure all the extras that came from the showroom new are included. We bought a certified pre owned from a vw.dealership and the floormats were.missing, cargo cover was missing, the spare tire holder was messed up. Parts were borrowed from the 2 years it was sitting or at the dealership
love this car!
Thank you for watching!
Loved the review! One question, does the TDI have a standard back camera?
Mine does not have a backup camera, I think on the 2013s you had to get Navi to have a factory backup camera
Well done!
Excellent review 👍. Man I want to get one of these cars.. I hope that warranty is transferable and/or universal!! I want to share the work drive with my primary vehicle, or hell all of it, that gas mileage is amazing! I wonder what it would tow?? I'd like to hook up a small camper behind it and go have some fun! Beautiful little car, thx.
Rated to tow 2,000 pounds. The warranty is transferrable, it follows the car per VW's TDI settlement with the government. They're cheap right now too, per this video some dork on CZcams made it might be a great time to buy one! czcams.com/video/7CGDYzfsIQg/video.html
Doug'er than Doug himself!!
I try, those are big flip flops to fill. Thank you for watching!
i recommend getting a European style auto headlight switch form eBay and install it, even on cars that don't have auto headlights it will still turn the lights fully off and on with the ignition when set to auto
What's interesting is that mine does not have auto headlights, but the instrument cluster will dim when it detects a low light level. It saves me the embarrassment of being one of those idiots who drives with their daytime running lights on at night.
Also, if you shut the car off with your high beams on, the next time you turn your lights on the low beams will be on, which saves people from being one of the idiots who drives with their high beams (brights) on.
Simple idiot-proofing. This is what separates German manufacturers from others.
I bought one of these (known in Canada as a 2013 Golf Wagon TDI) in March 2020, with the Highline trim. Great Car!
I'm surprised yours doesn't have fog lights or the Climatronic system.
I don't have the 110V outlet below the rear seat vents. Instead, I have a little storage area.
Thanks to your video, I learned that I can open and close the sunshade with one touch!
Great video! Maybe Doug DeMuro would be smart to share the platform with you to review "everyday" cars while he reviews the exotics.
Thank you for watching! None of the US Spec Mark V TDI "Jettas" had Climatronic or Fog Lights from the factory, but they ALL had the 110V Outlet. VW Knows what us Yanks like: adjusting the AC manually and plugging stuff in. We can't get enough of it!
@@CarDietrich I find it fascinating what differences they have between US and Canadian markets. I also have a Subaru STi that came standard with a radio, heated seats and mirrors. Whereas the USA didn't get those but got HIDs instead.
But both got the wider seats (for our wider North American butts) compared to the rest of the world.
I'm assuming your Canada-Spec STI had the 2.5 liter like the US Spec cars? That's another difference, they gave us the torque and the rest of the world got the revs of the EJ20. I had a 2017 STI for three years, got rid of it earlier this year. I loved that damn car.
@@CarDietrich The rest of the GD car was the same 2.5L Turbo, 300hp, 300lb-ft. DCCD was introduced in 2004.
Interestingly, the only reason why I have the Subaru is because the MKIV Golf R32 was not allowed in Canada, not even for import from the US. They've since changed that law and now most cars sold in the USA can be imported into Canada. They homologated the crash test requirements.
Good review.
Thank you for watching!
Mine has two storage places above where the spare tire is at, it has the big one you showed then a small one behind it. I do like how it drives, now it is taking getting used to taking off when up hill at a stop sign, since it hesitates some I either take off to slow or too fast.
I've got a 2011 that wasn't even modified until early last year. I'll hit the mileage warranty level long before the date. Be careful of that moonroof screen.....they are a weak point given how long they are. The retracting springs in mine went "sproing!" one day and suddenly the screen was hanging down on my head. Very expensive fix. But....I just ripped it out completely and tinted the moonroof dark. Problem solved. 40+ mpg, even after the "fix". Hard to beat.
Do you know the rear cargo measurements from back of driver seats to rear lift gate? 6"2 wondering if I can sleep in the back
Great review, I just got the same car but, with manual trans and no sunroof dammit!, but I drove TDIs in europe a lot and i love them for the stability and mpg
Thank you for watching!
I have been on the lookout for one of these with a 6 speed standard shift for the dog and I.
Need the MPG for life's new requirements.
Nice video! I bought a 2011 Golf TDI back in July and I just love it. It had 52,000 miles on it and I got it for $10,900.
Thank you for watching! Enjoy your car :)
A loot of car for the money. A very sensible buy.
Great video
Thank you! Thanks for watching
Bought same car except mines a 2014 and no moon roof 😭. I love it. I'd give the handling a better score. I live in a area with windy back road freeways and I'm passing brzs and frs on sharp turns with no problem. Great video though!
Well no moonroof means no leaks! I agree with you that the car handles very well, but the DougScore compares cars against everything, including GT3 Porsches and Ferraris, so I tried to score it based on that criteria.
So my moonroof got stuck and the dealer told me that the frame needs to be replaced, quoted me 2400$. A reliable mechanic also quoted around 2000$ for the same repair. So I found someone who closed the moonroof permanently for 100$ and am happy with the solution for now. But I hope to DIY it at some point.
This is great!
Thank you for watching!
I’m sitting here without a running vehicle wondering if I should sell my projects and get one of these.
doug impression is amazing lol
Something really nice about this is that they kept the same dash layout for the MK7 Golf Sportwagen, so you can use an Apple CarPlay head unit from one of those (I got mine for $180) and it looks totally stock.
Really? 🤔🤔 I'll have to look into that. Thanks for watching!
Whoa! Do the steering wheel buttons work?
Video was good ! Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Thank you !
Great review, I have one as well; but you did miss the second hidden compartment in the cargo area (the one at the top by the bottom of the back seats). There are also nice storage areas on the sides in the back.
I also have to disagree with a few of your Doug Scores! This car is fun to drive, and deserves at least a 4. Of course my has H&R Sport Springs and Bilstein shocks, but the DSG mated to the TDI engine is a great combo for spirited driving. Its length is a bit of a factor, but given its low COG I find the handling (which you gave a '5') and acceleration (see below) to make this car much more of a sleeper than most people realize.
I also disagree with you '1' for acceleration; I regularly leave more "powerful" cars in my dust thanks to all the torque this little 2.0L engine pumps out. Other than a tuned V8, there is not many vehicles on the road that this car can't hang with!
In fact, those who have "deleted and tuned" their JSWs also experience more power and better fuel economy, but I wouldn't recommend that until after the extended warranty expires.
Otherwise, the JSW is one of the best unknown and underrated cars around! I previously owned a 1996 Passat wagon with the VR6 which was a great vehicle as well. I am extremely happy to be back in a VW, after 12 years of driving a Toyota I missed the experience of German automotive engineering!
Great video...very informative indeed!!! Love this car and keen on buying a used one, but I have heard that VWs are very expensive to maintain especially the spare parts. Could you please share your experience? Did your car require any major repairs apart from the regular oil change and servicing?
thanks:-)

Just for you!
@@CarDietrichThanks for sharing the link...thanks:-)
You're welcome thank you for watching my videos
Hey, love the video. I'm thinking about getting a 2015 Golf Wagen, but I hear woeful stories about the moonroof and that DSG. So two big questions, did the dealer's fix to your moonroof keep it from leaking? I hear for some people it has and for others it hasn't (side note, how the hell does a German company screw up a moonroof?) And, did you get your DSG service done at 40K...have you had any issues with it? Thanks again for the video.
Yes the dealership repair has so far fixed the leak 100%, knock on wood. The problem with mine was that the drainage line from the moonroof got clogged, and that is the most common cause for this issue. As far as the DSG service, the CarFax report on my car indicates that the 40k service on the car was done at a VW dealer on time, and I am assuming this means the DSG service was done at that time. Based on the way my car shifts I do believe the service was performed because my DSG still shifts crisp and smooth. I've driven a lot of VW/Audi's with the DSG (I used to work at a dealer) and a lot of the time when the DSGs start getting in the 50-60k mile range they start to feel a little raggedy, but mine still feels like it would have when it was new. When test driving one, it will feel slightly sluggish right from a dead stop, because the electronic clutch is engaging. After that you should never feel an upshift, they should be absolutely smooth. For the most part you should never feel a downshift either, although sometimes when you are slowing to a stop you may feel a very slight "light bump" (best way I can think to describe it) from the transmission. I emphasize slight here. As far as maintenance goes, I have noticed after looking at tons of CarFax reports on TDIs that on average they are very well maintained. You may identify with this statement: the person who is interested in buying a diesel car is likely to be more interested in the actual mechanics of the automobile, and therefore more likely to do the factory recommended maintenance on time. I know I fit this description, and I sold these things when they were new and I'd say most of my TDI customers fit that description. With all that being said, thanks for watching my video and best of luck on your search for your Golf TDI!
@@CarDietrich Thanks for the quick and informative response. I'm looking at lots of other cars in this category (A3 Etron...and there is an A3 wagon Diesel that stopped making in '13), but I keep coming back to this TDI. I think you said your warranty covered the moonroof leak, right? I saw somewhere where a guy used weed whacker line to clean out that drainage line...so maybe that would have to become part of the maintenance routine. If I can find one and make sure the dealer has done the moonroof fix (there is an official VW repair for this) and done the 40K DSG service, I might just have to get '15. Thanks again!
No problem. Just to be clear I bought an additional extended warranty with the car, and that was what covered the moonroof leak. You are correct that regular maintenance of the drainage line would probably prevent moonroof leaks in the future. Thanks for watching, and again good luck in your search!
Excellent job!!!👊👊👊👊. Innrrf a daily driver with great gas milage... Thx
Thank you for watching!
Awesome. I got a 2012 with 28k miles on it. My sun shade broke (bummer). I think why I’m this gen drives so well is that the sportwagen is really a GTI this the better handling and ride.
The Mk.V Chassis was just the best one they ever did for the Golf/Jetta models. I had a 2019 as a loaner (Mk.VII) while my 2013 was in service and I was so happy to get the 2013 back because it just drove better. Sorry to hear about your sunshade but score on getting a TDI with such low miles!
